Hi, I recently went through the process of having my block removed and my deleted draft article reinstated, but it seems I am still unable to edit. The copywritten material I had been using has been officially cleared with Wikipedia and it was my understanding that I would be allowed to attempt to create my draft article again, this time utilizing the sandbox. I was under the impression this had all been cleared up... Could you please allow me to edit my entry so as to rectify the problems that occurred the first time? Thanks, Eric

Hi Yamla, Sorry for the confusion. I hope this is the proper/appropriate way to respond to your question above: "Can you please point to where you discussed this?" I thought that this meant our block would be lifted: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft_talk:Gerard_Edery. We have received official permission from Wikipedia to use Mr Edery's copywritten material. Once again, Mr. Edery is a legitimate public figure, we only wish to help him make a Wikipedia page like any other internationally renown musician of his caliber. I do not understand how we can be accused of blatant aggrandizement when we were only in the process of making an unpublished, unviewable first rough draft of a page for someone with a recognized career as a public figure. If our block can be lifted, we want nothing more than to create this page for informational purposes, adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines, utilizing no copy-written material to which we do not have the specific rights. Our first attempt at starting this process was clearly flawed, and we are sorry for that, it was not our intention to break any rules here. Next time we plan to use the sandbox feature and we will not even be considering any text which has not been officially cleared for use. We have learned our lesson! Please let us know how to proceed. Thanks, Eric

Okay. So you've established permission under copyright. That is, the copyright owner permits reuse of the content. But... you aren't blocked for that. You are blocked for inappropriate promotion, and haven't addressed this yet. I suggest you start at WP:COI, WP:PAID, and WP:PROMO. --Yamla (talk) 16:25, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yamla, I've read all the links you sent. Thank you. I definitely needed to read those! May I please have a copy of my article as it appeared? I would like to post it in my sandbox with the proper COI, PAID and PROMO disclosures and begin the process of having the material peer reviewed and hopefully eventually approved for publication.

Request reason:

I am sorry for falling afoul of Wikipedia's guidelines, and I understand why I was blocked. I have since read the links provided to me pertaining to Conflict of Interest, Paid Contributions, and Promotion. I do have a COI, and I am receiving payment... I made an honest mistake, I was just not well enough versed on Wikipedia's rules when I started out. (Although please take into account that I never even attempted to post the rough draft I was working on. It was only the very beginning of a first rough draft and now I realize I should have been working in the Sandbox instead of the Draft section.) If you would please remove the block and allow me to try again, I would like to step through the appropriate process to try to create a Wikipedia page and submit it with all the proper disclosures, and in full compliance with Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use and the local policies and guidelines of the English Wikipedia, as stated in the Paid contribution page. Gerard Edery, the musician for whom I am making the Wikipedia page, is more than worthy of his own entry, and I am certain I can assemble enough verifiable independent third-party source material to create a legitimate page. Gerard Edery's name returns 187,000 Google search results, he has a decades-long career, and he is known internationally. Please understand, I did not intentionally break any Wikipedia Rules, I made an honest mistake, I never even attempted to post anything, I understand how what I was doing would have fallen outside of Wikipedia's terms and conditions, I have read up now on how to properly utilize Wikipedia, and I intend to abide by the rules. Please remove the block so that I may try again, the right way. Thank you for your consideration.

Decline reason:

To be blunt, I'm tempted to delete the draft again because, beside the copyright problem that has been resolved, it's also blatantly promotional. I'm pretty sure a promotional tone has even gotten into the way of factual accuracy at times. Edery may well meet Wikipedia's standards of notability, but that draft seems unsalvageable and would need to be rewritten in its entirety. (And your subsequent edits haven't improved the draft in that regard but, arguably, made it ever more promotional.) The lack of disclosure that you discuss above and offer to correct was indeed a problem, but the apparent inability to write from a neutral point of view is equally problematic. Since editing for promotion is a major part of the block reason and you haven't addressed that, not removing the block is in the best interest of the encyclopedia. Huon, Thank you for your response. I do not know what you mean when you say you are tempted to "delete my draft AGAIN" or by referring to my "subsequent edits" to the draft making it "ever more promotional." I have only been blocked once, that block is still in place, and since then I have not had an opportunity to make any edits. There was only one draft, it was clearly unusable and a bad start, it never got published, and I have been blocked from editing it essentially since the first day i started working on it. All i want is the opportunity to approach this page again with a clean slate so that I can make it NON-promotional by using third party source material, as I mentioned above. I believe i have demonstrated contrition and a clear understanding of the appropriate way in which to proceed. As Wikipedia has a system in place to review articles submitted by PAID writers with admitted COI, I do not understand why I would not be allowed an opportunity to work within this system. I never even attempted to publish this draft and have been blocked from even attempting to rectify this situation despite following Wikipedia's unblock guidelines and demonstrating my knowledge of why I was blocked and how to avoid breaking Wikipedia's rules in the future. Please allow me to start over from scratch!

Your draft was deleted on November 17, not just for the copyright issue but also for being blatantly promotional. It was undeleted when the copyright issue was resolved. Compare the log. So deleting it now would be its second deletion. And by "subsequent edits" I mean the likes of this one where you took an already promotional draft copy-pasted from the subject's website and made it even more promotional. Huon (talk) 08:11, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Huon, the subsequent edits you refer to were made within the first several hours of the first day I began to build this page. I saved that rough draft and it was immediately deleted, and I was blocked. Whether the draft has been "undeleted" or not, I have not been able to make any edits to it since I've been blocked. I realize my mistake, but I'm not able to edit this draft to make it any better so that it complies with wikipedia's policies. I'm not able to delete it either.... I'm not even allowed to start from scratch as I'm blocked right now. I don't care about that first draft anymore, all I want is to be unblocked so I can start over. Please.

I believe I my be autoblocked[edit]

{unblock-auto|1=ip address|2=autoblock message|3=blocking admin}It looks like I may have been autoblocked with no set expiry date. I believe the issues that resulted in my block have been resolved with Wikipedia, so I am requesting that any autoblocks or manual blocks please be removed so that I may edit my draft post in a way that complies with Wikipedia's policies. Thank you, Eric
