Scott G connection[edit]

What, if any, is your connection to SG? See if WP:PAID of WP:COI apply. David notMD (talk) 21:24, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David, I am Scott G. A was alerted by a collegue yesterday to changes that were made to my page by someone I don't know. They took parts of sentences out leaving incomplete sentences, etc. I went on late last night to change them, made additional edits and checked them this morning. There was a problem with one of the Brands names so I change it and then wanted to add other things to my personal info, wife, kids, etc. When I hit publish my picture was no longer there and as previously stated. All of the info is now in paragraph form at the top of the page.

Considering you have a direct conflict of interest, you need to request changes via the talk page. CUPIDICAE💕 22:12, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Deletion Response: Dear Wikipedia:

I am perplexed at what has just transpired regarding my Article. I would first like to be clear that I had nothing to do with my Article until 3/4/21. A colleague brought to my attention that parts of sentences were edited out by someone named DoubleCross leaving grammatical errors. I immediately tried to rectify it myself, which now in hindsight, seems like a major mistake. I was concerned about the grammar and partial sentences now left in the article had someone seen them. As you can see, I clearly didn’t know what I was doing as I didn’t realize I could review before publishing. I also realized in the process that I did not have a username or password so I created one as it was my understanding it was necessary to ensure the changes would be made. I picked TruthPR to combat the vandalism DoubleCross had done to the article. It was an assumption someone made that TruthPR was someone I hired and therefore compensated. The Terms of Use are very clear and I would not do anything to violate them. As a result, I am now being wrongly accused of “edit warring” and having the Article referred to as an “unsourced spammy bio”. Fortunately, people in my business don’t get very far by attempting to claim work they didn’t do. Plenty of my work is sourced on IMDB and work that is on IMDB is not in the Article. If my Article is an attempt at self-promotion then it has failed because it doesn’t mention that in my office are 8 Clios, 4 Cannes Lions, 1 EMMY and a Plaque recognizing my contribution as a Producer of music videos that led to $300,000 copies of the album “Bat Out Of Hell II” being sold in the UK. Once again, my only attempt was to correct DoubleCross and maintain the integrity of the Article. Additionally, since it wasn’t there before I added my full birth name, my spouse and kids.

With regard to myself being notable on my own I once again don’t understand the issues as the sole focus is on the EMMY. But to clear up any misconceptions regarding the EMMY it should be pointed out that I was the Executive Producer for “Required Reading”, therefore I was the person that received the award and gave the speech at the EMMY’s.

I look forward to a non-personal, truthful and respectful dialogue to rectify any concerns.

Scott Gardenhour

Accept reason:

I'm happy to unblock subject to three conditions being met.

  • (1) You verify your identity through the WP:OTRS system by sending an e-mail to info-en-q@wikimedia.org, to confirm there is no impersonation, and then, when unblocked
  • (2) You disclose your identity and list, on your user page any relevant conflicts of interest, and
  • (3) You ask for your account to be renamed - it need not be your own name, but TruthPR is problematic. When unblocked, you can request a rename via this page

  • User now unblocked. Scott (TruthPR) you can request a change of name by clicking here. If you require further assistance with the COI declaration on your user page, I or others will be happy to assist. Nick (talk) 12:57, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nick, can you please give me some insight as to what I need to say and with regard to the COI of TruthPR. I have requested a name change and just need some clarification on what to say on the TruthPR page. Thx!

Hi Scott. What you need to say, on your user page, is that you're Scott Gardenhour, and simply to list the productions that you are connected with, either as a producer or where you have a similar level of involvement. It doesn't need to be anything more detailed than that which you've posted above. If you have any further problems or questions, just let me know. I'll try to keep an eye on your talk page for any further queries. Nick (talk) 21:40, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nick, Thanks for getting back to me. Should I state why I created TruthPR which was to correct vandalism done by another user? Should the list of productions be of past productions? Also, does the "Marked for deletion" remain permanent?

Hi Nick, In addition to my previous request for further clarification on the COI, can you please advise on how I need to pass relevant source information to David notMD? Thanks again for your assistance.

Blocked[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Nick (talk) 22:24, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

TruthPR Given that you are (or claim to be, unverified) SG, then you can appeal your block by stating that you will declare that information on your User page and you will not edit the article. Rather, you must state that you understand that the only path open is to request changes on the Talk page of the article, so that a non-involved editor can decide to implement or not. Meanwhile, the article is at nomination for deletion. After a week or so of recommendations by editors (KEEP or DELETE), an Administrator will make a decision.
