A tag has been placed on European Journal of Clinical Investigation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Conflict of interest[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article European Journal of Clinical Investigation, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Empty Buffer (talk) 11:21, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violations and you[edit]

Tsowiley - I wanted to address your question here, since I've just deleted the page. The material that you posted is a direct word for word copy from the Wiley site you referenced. When I look on the Wiley source page, there is no attribution that I can see that licenses the page content to Wikipedia compatible licenses. If you are indeed a Wiley employee and are authorised to release that text, you can follow the information at WP:IOWN (basically either put the CC-by-SA information on the originating page, or emailing us from an official Wiley email address giving us permission). Please keep in mind that (1) the text that you donate will not remain inviolate, but will be edited (sometimes mercilessly) by other editors and (2) in general, I believe that articles on specific journals under the major scientific publishing houses tend to end up deleted as not notable enough on their own. I hope this is helpful to you, and let me know if you have any questions by replying here. I have this page watched. Thanks! Syrthiss (talk) 11:57, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

and if I am mistaken about the page source and you can show me where to look to find Wikipedia compatible licensing on the Wiley page, I can restore the text from the article. Syrthiss (talk) 11:59, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for highlighting this - to which email should I send confirmation from an official wiley address that I am authorised to release the text, please?

Here's the email address and a link to the suggested wording:

I also suggest you read Wikipedia:Donating_copyrighted_materials#What_it_means_to_donate_material_to_Wikipedia to clarify what Wiley's rights are in regard to the donated text. Thanks. Syrthiss (talk) 12:52, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But, and it's a big but, even if the copyright owner releases the copyright, a direct copy and paste to create a Wikipedia article will probably not be sufficient. Apart from issues of notability, material produced by the company is likely to be promotional in tone and would probably be deleted as blatant advertising unless rewritten from a neutral point of view. That is difficult to do if you have a COI. – ukexpat (talk) 14:37, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.
