Tennis player rankings dont always change[edit]

Current tennis players rankings are from the date they first achieved their current ranking. Fyunck(click) (talk) 20:57, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Fyunck(click): Thank you for correcting me on that. I'll make sure I continue to familiarize myself with the WP guidelines. Tunestoons (talk) 22:44, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tie-breaking procedures for shared no. 1 ranking[edit]

I reverted your edit in the Indian Wells women's doubles draws' page, because when two non-team players, who share the same number of ranking points, the one with more accumulated points in Big tournaments (Slams, WTA 1000, WTA Finals) over a period of 52 weeks will claim the top ranking. In case of a tie, more criteria needs to be met. Reffer to WTA Rulebook for more detail. Qwerty284651 (talk) 06:31, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Qwerty284651:, thanks for stopping by. Yeah, thanks for correcting that. Also, I just wanted to let you know that Sabalenka was not planning to play doubles with Mertens in the first place to defend her title at Indian Wells this year. If she had not tested positive for COVID and was competing in singles, we would instead be writing that she "chose not to play in the doubles tournament"/"chose not to defend her title" (or something along those lines) instead of stating the fact that she tested positive. So that was the reason for my edits. I'm going to make my edits on the page (I won't revert anything; it will be a different edit from what I had initially written before, so parts of your recent changes will remain). And there's no hard feelings here, so feel free to discuss. Thanks!Tunestoons (talk) 06:36, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to wikilink the WTA Rulebook mention, but you beat me to the punch before I could. So, here is the WTA Rulebook PDF. See page 152, section VIII, B. 5. "Tie-breaking procedures". If link does not work, alternatively, see WTA Rules. Qwerty284651 (talk) 06:48, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
