For cleaning up my (many) little mistakes and producing small edits of absolute top quality on the Titanic II article, and associated articles. MatthewHaywood (talk) 19:00, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The Original Barnstar
Hello,

Thank you for the great work you did with the M/S Wilhelm Carpelan page. The page looks a lot more Wiki-professional now. Just wanted to ask you a couple of things, as you decided to omit two items I had originally written. The first was about the hydraulic mast tilting the ship owner had installed, and the other one was about the Ericsson spy boat. Wondering why these were omitted. FYI I worked for Nokia for 15 years, including several years in the Nokia headquarters in the early 2000s, and we did not refer to the boat as any competitors' spy boat but very specifically the Ericsson spy boat. At that time Ericsson was not that much a cell phone competitor but a telecom infrastructure competitor.

Then another topic. I've created about 5 Wiki pages now and I've been struggling with the editing and templates. It looks like the Wiki page creation is kind of black magic, you need to know what templates to use and what not. Is there somewhere a good source of information to guide newcomers? As an example, if I want to create a professional-looking page on a ship, how can I find the right template in Finnish and English, and so on? I don't have too much time to spend learning the tricks of Wiki but I have some time available to create these pages.

Thanks & regards,

Projects 97 and 97AP icebreakers[edit]

Projects 97 and 97AP icebreakers: not 2 × twin 25 mm 2M-3M, but 1 × twin 25 mm 2M-3M.

  1. Project 97:

  2. Project 97AP:

Thank you for the additional information. Tupsumato (talk) 06:59, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

--109.169.214.220 (talk) 20:30, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I will continue looking for information. Tupsumato (talk) 14:04, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
--80.234.72.242 (talk) 18:40, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your effort. While one of my Russian contacts speculated that Muzalevsky may have a misprint, none of the sources clearly state that Vladimir Kavrayskiy would not have a bow propeller. Thus, I have removed the previous claim from the article. Tupsumato (talk) 06:55, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
--212.32.192.17 (talk) 09:00, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    1. A. F. Burkov; V. F. Verevkin (2018), (PDF) (in Russian), Vladivostok: FEFU, pp. 17–18, ISBN 978-5-7444-4232-3, retrieved 2023-01-18.

    — Kuznetsov 2009, p. 29.
    --212.32.207.162 (talk) 23:30, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again for confirming these details from Russian sources — I'll revise the article at some point when time allows. In the meanwhile, feel free to correct any details that are incorrect or missing in the article. Tupsumato (talk) 06:45, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ --95.67.131.254 (talk) 10:40, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Propulsion: 3 diesels (13D100) driving 3 generators connected to electric motors: 5,400 hp; 2 shafts

    — Polmar, Norman (1986), Guide to the Soviet Navy (4th ed.), Annapolis, Md.: Naval Institute Press, p. 338, ISBN 0-87021-240-0, retrieved 2023-02-02.
--80.234.77.251 (talk) 12:45, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Hello Tupsumato. Can you take a look at the question I posed here? I suspect that a value for depth has been mistaken for draught/draft. Many thanks, Kablammo (talk) 12:26, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted edition[edit]

Sorry I reverted your edition on Magadan (icebreaker); I was trying to reverse a previous one and it looks like the bot and you had already done the job. I see that you readded what I mistakenly reverted, so everything is fine now. Gorpik (talk) 09:33, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No problem and thanks for keeping an eye on the article. Tupsumato (talk) 11:27, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edit flag[edit]

Hi Tupsumato! I noticed that you are marking edits as minor that are not minor. Minor edit has a very specific definition on Wikipedia. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 15:41, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reminding me. I admit I have used it incorrectly and will try to fix my bad habits in the future. Tupsumato (talk) 17:36, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dali[edit]

Thanks for a nice set of edits. The only one that bothers me just a little is the question of the Maersk charter. Although I think that it is likely that Dali has been chartered continuously, I haven't found a reference for that - only that the ship started with Maersk, and is currently (hence my slightly clunky text). Can you find anything? - Davidships (talk) 03:31, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll try to find "positive evidence" of continuous Maersk charter. A quick search brought up mentions of Maersk chartering Dali in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2020. Sea-web does not mention other companies associated with the ship either. Tupsumato (talk) 04:22, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again MrT. After I retired, I hung on to my former employer's SeaWeb access for a while until they didn't renew (as they got free access to Clarksons database, which was fine from their point of view). Lloyd’s List Containers ex-Containerisation International might have something - Davidships (talk) 13:24, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
