Kayla (Orca)

Shouldn't Kayla (whale) be moved to this? We have Keiko (Orca). -WarthogDemon 05:49, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the one you moved should be deleted. Whether it is Orca or Whale, I am indifferent to. The original problem was the author didn't have a space. Turlo Lomon 05:51, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, agreed. I'll remove the hangon tag and do the move once this is deleted. -WarthogDemon 05:53, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the delay on my response. I typically only visit this while at work. The reason for the flagging was because this is not MySpace. The proper usage would have been as a userpage, not an encylopedia article. It looks like it has already been corrected, so there is nothing to address right now. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Turlo Lomon 23:51, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw on your page that you claim to be neutral on controversial issues, yet on the Artemis Entreri page you clearly said he was lawful evil. Why?Maxxiboy 02:10, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I reviewed the talk page, and it appears my comments were shifted down from where they were originally a reply. They are very out of context. I have to yield to other contributers' opinions on the recent books because I haven't been able to get caught up on my reading yet. My originaly post stated TN. An event in a book I haven't read pointed out this was incorrect, so I yielded to that person's analysis until I had a chance to read the book. I'll modify the talk page accordingly. Turlo Lomon 12:14, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize, for I was unaware that you had not read all the books; and now I can see how one might come to the conclusion of him being evil. All I ask is that you keep your mind more open about Artemis Entreri's character; I thank you, and happy reading. Maxxiboy 20:17, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Free Fudgie

Hi Turlo. Thanks for your message - I'm sad Fudgie was deleted, but I accept that Wikipedia is not a place for tongue in cheek humor. (Although, to be fair, some of it was indeed true! Carvel is rolling back Fudgie.)

My question is this: is there a way that I can see the formatting for my old Fudgie post, so that I might add it to a more comedic, side-wiki project where it isn't against the rules? I don't see it under my old posts, and so I forget what I wrote.

Also, thanks for your kind words about my writing ability. Dmickley 09:58, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Woot! You got a response from an admin on your talk page. The article was saved! Long live Fudgie! I am in the process of a revamp, but if you want a site to host that article on, just let me know. Turlo Lomon 04:34, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Turlo! If you're willing, I'd happily take you up on that offer. I'm not particularly knowledgeable (read: hopeless, and possibly even destructive) with any sort of web development. Full disclosure: I actually bought freefudgie.com, I just don't know how to do anything with it. But it's sitting there, happily, for the next two years under my control. If you had any guidance, or any recommendations in general (I also barely understand Wikipedia), I'd love to hear them. P.S. - my brother instilled a pretty good love of D&D, and RPGs in general, in me. I used to play a MUD, and briefly dabbled in WOW - do you still keep the proverbial RPG faith? My email address is mix.mav@gmail.com - looking forward to talking with you. I forget how to sign my name, but it's Dennis.

Vandalism patrol

Hey, thanks for helping out doing RC patrol, it's always needed. I noticed a note you left on a vandal's page and I wanted to make a couple suggestions. I suggest always adding subst to test templates (and other user talk templates like welcome messages). It helps if one of the templates gets vandalized, it's easier on the servers, and it makes it seem less templat-ey if they look in the edit window. Perhaps more controversially, I'd also suggest going up in sequence through the test templates, rather than skipping to test 4 after a test 2 (the edit I noticed [1]). While not everyone does this, it is encouraged. It makes it easier to block the vandal, since it's clear that they've received the full set of warnings. Also, theres a chance that the vandal will desist after a few warnings. It's also easier for the next person if you go in order (e.g. if someone leaves a t3 for the first message, do I leave a t4 for the second? Go back to t2?). Anyway, you can do with this advice what you want, I just thought I'd let you know my thoughts on it. Hopefully I haven't been too annoying by leaving you bossy messages as my introduction to you! Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions or want to discuss anything. Thanks again for doing RC patrol! Peace, delldot | talk 17:11, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking notice in my work. I appreciate the bluntness in your feedback. The example you posted was one where the vandal received a test2, then a second page was added (implying test3), when I added the test4. I will careful in the future to not skip actual levels. I didn't know about the tricks for subst on the templates, so I will start using that immediately. Thanks again for the feedback. Turlo Lomon 04:29, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a chance you can fix that Greyhawk Wikipedia Project info box? It looks kind of silly the way it currently is. Thanks. Turlo Lomon 05:36, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The best thing would probably be to find a free (not fair-use) image to use. (It would seem that the previous one was deleted?) I'll do some searching this weekend... If you find any you feel appropriate, let me know : ) - jc37 12:30, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned to Hatred

why did you delete the page about orphaned to hatred? they are a band from los angeles, they are real, so why delete? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cesardelgado (talkcontribs)

I did not delete the article. I nominated it for review by the admins for deletion due to lack of notability. A band existing doesn't make it notabile. The article stated that they haven't released their first record yet. This, in my opinion, makes them fail the notability test. Apparently, the admins agreed. Turlo Lomon 01:31, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you recently reverted my redirect of on board to on-board, with an older redirect pointing to Baby On Board. However, the term "on board" is almost unrelated to "Baby On Board". Do you have a good reason for reverting my redirect? (I'm watching your talk so you can respond here) -- intgr 11:09, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Originally you had a circuliar redirect. I see that you fixed that now. I added the original redirect target as part of the disamiguation page. Turlo Lomon 11:11, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I accidentally replaced my edits with a redirect for two minutes and reverted that edit later; hence the confusion. -- intgr 11:13, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you recently deleted the primordial beginnings of the Deichkind article which is a German hip-hop band. See http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deichkind for more information. Did you even look the band up? jones77. See and listen here: http://www.last.fm/music/Deichkind.

First, I don't have the ability to delete articles. I only posted a request that it be reviewed for deletion. The key point from my note is "it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable". The article should be self sufficient to warrent an encylopedia entry. If the other site (de.wikipedia) had more information, then it should be carried over. If I recall correctly, it consisted of only one linee. The admin who did the deletion (I don't know who) agreed with my nomination and would have performed the deletion. My recommendation is to do a full article translation and repost it. Turlo Lomon 10:44, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When November Falls...

Hey, their (or rather his, until i get more info on who's in the band) debut album is slated for release in March 2007, their page wasn't going to be deleted until i made some changes to it, which is rather odd... could you please not delete the page, all it needs is an experienced person (i forget what you call yourselves... Wikipedians???) to fix up the page or someone who knows a lot about the subject. I'm not that good with Wikipedia but i tried to make their page better and what happens? It gets nominated to speedy deletion, yay (/sarcasm), sorry if i'm sounding rude (not intentional), it's just a little annoying that i make an addition and then it gets the page nominated for a deletion... Dave 13:37, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just nominated it for review. I do not have the authority to delete pages. The problem isn't with the amount of content or the quality of it. It has to do with notability. A band that has not released a single album is notabile... how? Turlo Lomon 14:17, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... well i see your point there, but their album is supposed to be coming out in March so, i would like the page to stay seeing as they're not that far away from being 'notable', if it comes to March and they don't have their album out yet, feel free to nominate it again, i won't have a problem with it. Thank you *smiles* --Dave 05:04, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy nominate of Glasgow gaels

Please consider waiting more than 2 minutes to nominate a page for speedy as new users can find it difficult to edit here and like to build the page up slowly (over 15 minutes ) (Gnevin 14:10, 23 March 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks for your reply, you must be so busy you can't take 2 minutes , sorry in interrupt your nominating of good articles (Gnevin 21:21, 27 March 2007 (UTC))[reply]
I am not sure why this is/was an issue. The original article that I nominated consisted of a webpage link and an e-mail address. There was zero description of what Glasgow gaels is, and as such, definitely fell within the criteria for speedy deletion. Turlo Lomon 07:13, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've started fixing up Against the Giants and remembered you had talked about something similar at the D&D project page. Some other users and I have been working on how to format these module series pages using Dragonlance modules (DL series) as the testbed (see talk page). Cutter

It would take a bit of looking through the books, but I'm sure I could gather as much information on Cutter, or Khazid'Hea (I think the actual name is), as is needed for a new article. I'll need to know what happens in what book for the references, but I already know a bunch. I'm in the progress of reading the short story "Comrades at Arms" in the Realms of the Elves anthology, and I've found that Cutter is a prominent "character" as it is now being wielded by Tos'Un from the Hunter's Blades Trilogy (not sure how well versed on the books you are, but you've got to know a bit if you created the "Drizzt's Scimitars" page, right? If you're interested I'll do my best to help you in the creation of a page for this sword... just post back on my talk page... thanks!

Darkedge

My Article "Temperature distribution equation in three dimensional system" has pdf file attached with it. All the explanation is given on the pdf file only. If Possible make the file to be redirected.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Aravinthane (talkcontribs)

Where is the attached PDF file? This is an encylopedia, and as such, it should be self sufficient. The article consisted of a link to an image. This isn't enough to meet the minimum criteria for an article. My nomination for SD stands. Turlo Lomon 11:15, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have posted a review for you. Please respond there with any questions you have and I will provide responses. Cheers!! Vassyana 11:16, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When a bot went a little whacked and starting tagging a ton of RPG articles with the wrong templates, I was one of the individuals asked to help fix them. During this timee, it gave me a chance to look over what is part of the project I joined. Honestly, the quality and frivilousness of articles amazed me. The only way to properly and fully clean up this mess would be to have admin powers. There are hundreds of articles that I am currently going through and tagging accordingly.

Gavin - This is aimed at you. I very much want to cleanup the mess that RPG Project has become, and I want to do it in the right way. My comments on the RFC, more specifically, the requests on the quality of articles that I cleanup... I need your input on. Also, before I continue down the path of an RFA, I would like your blessings.

Now, I am sure you have some questions that would come up during the RFA about how I would handle certain situations, so here are some of my answers now.

  1. How would I handle AFDs? I plan to continue to participate in debates, but will stay out of closing if there not a 100% consensus on results because I believe that may be a COI (specific to RPGs).
  2. How would I use my admin powers? Clean up redirects, disambiguation pages, etc. for the RPG Project that have a clear consensus on how to proceed.

Anyway... let me know if you have any questions, input, what ever. I look forward to your reply. Turlo Lomon 06:47, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Response I don't think you are serious about putting your name forward for administrator, but if you do, you might be advised not to mention your involvement in Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Gavin.collins, which is starting to look like a contraversial attempt to subdue an editor with whom you disagree. Also your reference to the RFC in AfD debates[2] may be also be working against you in this regard. --Gavin Collins 12:58, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"A contraversial [sic] attempt to subdue an editor"??? Don't you ever, even in the wee hours of the night, get the shade of the glimpse of an idea that you might not be completely, absolutely right? That the editors disagreeing with you are not trying to subdue, nor "hang" you, but are simply to get a better Wikipedia, exactly like you? Happy editing, Goochelaar 14:25, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It can't be that - an RfC is by definition an attempt at dispute resolution and dialogue. It has no authority to impose sanctions or forbid editing. --Kizor 16:37, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Turlo Lomon, I've seen nothing in your behavior on Gavin's RFC to indicate that you're trying to "subdue" anything other than another editor's misuse of the AfD system here. Gavin's comment above seems more like an attempt to bully you into not publicly taking a stand against his inappropriate editing practices here. It's not a new technique either; Gavin has often told people that if they revert his edits that he'll consider their revert an attempt to start an edit war. It's not a subtle way of bullying people no matter how "politely" it's supposedly phrased. Rray 15:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support. Now the question remains, should I wait to be nominated or nominate myself? My only concern is cleaning up the RPG Project, and without applying a ton of DB templates, it will take forever to move these articles around. (I am concerned most about the redirects that shouldn't belong, etc. - unlikely typos). Turlo Lomon 02:28, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think you should nominate yourself rather than wait to be nominated. :) Rray 16:07, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Just look at me! -Jéské(v^_^v) 18:41, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Turlo Lomon, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Q1ModuleCover.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Turlo Lomon/draft. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 05:57, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

D&D wiki project consensus

A call to all members of the D&D wiki project. We are currently having a major dispute that needs to be settled by all members of the D&D wiki project. The dispute is as follows. 1. Should we put disambiguation tags on D&D articles preemptively or should we wait until there is an article conflict with some other Wikipedia article. Vote on preemptive or wait.

2. What should we label these tags? Example "child's play (module)", or "child's play (adventure)" and at this point we are taking all suggestions.

email me at Dm2ortiz@aol.com or post on the D&D wiki project talk page Dm2ortiz 13:45, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And I thank you for all your help as well! Web Warlock 15:45, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD discussion

Please respond to my question posted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Talbott. Thanks. Nondistinguished 19:01, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm interested in the Dilkusha article ... are you? Victuallers 12:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ugh. That article needs some cleanup. Not exactly my area of expertise, but I can assist in some copyedit if I can find the time. I'm currently working on a big time project for RPGs right now. Turlo Lomon 12:35, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Thanks for all the work you are putting in the articles and discussions about GURPS books! --Goochelaar 21:45, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The funny part is, I don't even play GURPS currently. I haven't for over 10 years. Thank you for the feedback, though. And thank you for fixing my random typos. It is nuts trying to keep up with Gavin. Turlo Lomon 21:47, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to echo the "thanks" given already. Excellent job locating all those refs for GURPS Discworld! --Craw-daddy | T | 23:32, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Poll

Heya Turlo, I noticed you commenting on Wikipedia:Viewing deleted articles. Do you know where the impetus for the reopening of that poll is coming from? I've asked Captain Zyrain, but as you have commented on the talk page of that poll, figured you might have some sort of an idea. Also, the Captain has done a copy and paste move of the original poll... - Ta bu shi da yu 08:08, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, no clue. This whole policy side of things I only recently got involved with. Turlo Lomon 08:24, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious as to your comment about a Featured Article getting deleted—what was that article? Postdlf 04:37, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I asked for clarification on this, and there appears to be a slight clarification. It was Technomancer Press, which was classified as a "Good Article". Not sure what the difference is. Turlo Lomon 05:52, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I Angelbo award you this Barnstar for your game and RPG related contributions

Here is a Barnstar for you. You show the community that you are a well-versed contributer, so for all your contributions to RPG related articles on wikipedia, and for clearing up and responding swiftly to AfD submitted by Gavin Collins, you get this pointy little star.
Best regards and happy editing

Rebuttal

I had a look at a few other RFC pages, and although I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, it does not appear to be standard procedure to have a rebuttal section[3] on my RFC page as it looks a little like overkill. Don't you think you should only be able to hang a man once? I suggest moving it to the discussion page, and then we can all answer it. --Gavin Collins 21:09, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done, with my apologies. This is a new process for me. Turlo Lomon 00:15, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Could you help me undo all the edits SkiersBot (talk · contribs) made to the talk pages of all the D&D stubs? It's plastered the WikiProject Comics template onto them. -Jéské (v^_^v Kacheek!) 06:38, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Saw that. Give me a minute to add some references to the talk page on Isle of the Ape. I need to get them incorporated into the article. Turlo Lomon 06:42, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Approximately 75-80 left to go. What a mess. I am goingto take a break and get back to this. Turlo Lomon 07:23, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I let Skier know that his bot did this; his bot's currently on a 1-week all-expenses-paid vacation to BotBlockia. -Jéské (v^_^v Kacheek!) 07:40, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Second page done. 3rd page looks like it needs work up to T'Ralie-class transport‎. Taking a break again (at work atm). Turlo Lomon 10:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Turlo Lomon 11:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
