Images[edit]

Can anyone help me to post a picture. My account is not confirmed. I have made 10 edits. But made my account yesterday. If u have any info to post a file for me great. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TyTyKKWIki (talkcontribs) 22:30, 24 February 2014‎ (UTC)

Hello. In order to add a picture to a Wikipedia article, you will first need to thoroughly understand the image use policy and the Manual of Style as it relates to images. Then you can look into uploading images and inserting them into an article. This might seem like a lot to learn, but it's all important. Contributors who don't understand the policies and guidelines often see their pictures deleted. Only logged in users with autoconfirmed accounts can upload images (meaning that the account must be at least four days old, and the user must have made at least ten edits). I hope this helps you to get started. – Wdchk (talk) 01:25, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

about image sizing[edit]

i know my account is not confirmed but when it is. and i post pictures it is the size. question will the size be like the picture i get of yahoo, bing or google. cause when i hit size i put medium,or large. On the file i then save it it works out. But the file info is in red with the caption. i click on the file info then its upload wizard. I click upload then it tells me account needs to be confirmed. if u have any info on picture sizing tell me. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TyTyKKWIki (talkcontribs) 22:18, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The only size restriction (that I am aware of) is that the uploaded file must not be larger than 100 MB. But let's just put that to one side for a moment. What's that about Yahoo!, Bing and Google? Is that where the images are coming from? If so, please be very clear on the following: Most images you might find on the Internet are copyrighted and not appropriate for uploading to Wikipedia. If you did not create the image, or if you are unable or unwilling to verify its copyright status, do not upload the image. Many people who get enthusiastic about uploading images to Wikipedia don't have the faintest clue what they are doing. Please don't be one of those people. Thanks. – Wdchk (talk) 04:07, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

block[edit]

if i get blocked on wiki how long will i get blocked — Preceding unsigned comment added by TyTyKKWIki (talkcontribs) 22:20, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The duration of a block depends on the circumstances. The blocking administrator will take into account the severity of the behavior that led to the block, and whether the user has engaged in that behavior before. You can read Wikipedia:Blocking policy for more information. But don't worry – if you follow the policies and guidelines, you won't get blocked. Even if you make a mistake, you're unlikely to see a block so long as you take notice and learn from it when somebody points it out to you. – Wdchk (talk) 03:49, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

infobox[edit]

can anyone tell me how to do a info box

  • Hi TyTyKKWIki, unless someone happens to have a reason to come to your talk page no one may see such questions you post. So if you have such questions pop over to the Wikipedia:Teahouse for help. As I'm here.... WP:INFOBOX is a place to look for information on infoboxes. However the best way to learn is often just to look at similar articles and look at how they are written. image polocy[edit]

  • Hi TyTyKKWIki, your can not hotlink to external images at all on wikipedia, all images must be uploaded (locally or on commons) and be valid under copyright. Generally most images found on the internet are not 'free' so can not be used. Only 'free' images can be uploaded to commons, and only under certain condition can an image be uploaded locally to English wikipedia and used under 'fair use'. See MOS:IMAGES for more information on images and image use policies. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 12:56, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
