July 2010[edit]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page Jesse McCartney. Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Tommy! [message] 20:39, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to David Henrie. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. Tommy! [message] 20:43, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Mitchel Musso, you will be blocked from editing without further notice.
Your edits have been automatically marked as vandalism and have been automatically reverted. The following is the log entry regarding this vandalism: Mitchel Musso was changed by TylerG518 (u) (t) deleting 11138 characters on 2010-07-27T20:46:40+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot (talk) 20:46, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for vandalism. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Request reason:

Excuse me, I did not do all that vandilism. I am very very furious, my account has been hacked into, I JUST logged on and then I look on my user talk page and find all these vandilism messages. And then the next thing I know I am blocked from editing? I am sorry but I did not do all that. I found out last week that my account was hacked into and it has been hacked. I will change my password immidieatly but please unblock me from editing. Thanks. Tyler.

Decline reason:

I've reviewed this account's history, which consisted of useful edits until today, so I agree that this is a compromised account. However, considering the timing of this request (and the poor spelling in the request, more characteristic of the vandal's style than the original user's), it seems likely that the person making the request is not the "real" User:TylerG518, but the person who has been vandalizing. I'll help Tyler out by not unblocking at this time. He seems to only check in every few months, so I'm sure he'll be along in a few months to appeal this himself. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Hello, my name is Tyler Goodwin. I have noticed that my account was compromised. I must inform you that the vandalism edit's made were not made by me. My password has been changed and I am now writing to appeal this block. I am asking for an administator to please review the appeal and grant me editing rights again. Thank you, Tyler Goodwin.

Decline reason:

Unfortunately, WP:GOTHACKED applies here. We have no way of knowing who is now controlling this account. All the vandalizing edits were made from the same IP, apparently on the same computer, as your unblock requests -- including this edit, exactly two minutes before being blocked, and eight minutes before this unblock request. This makes it highly unlikely that "I found out last week that my account was hacked" is credible. --jpgordon::==( o ) 18:32, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Typically, what I would do is e-mail you a string of numbers. If you post that string here, that would mean that you are the person in control of the e-mail associated with this account - but since you don't have an e-mail address on file, I'm at a loss. I'll leave this request for other admins, wiser than I, to see what can be done. Good luck, UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 18:10, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can give the admins my email? Would that help? TylerG518 (talk) 18:16, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

To jpgordon or other admins. The timing of the unblock request prior to that edit was due to the fact that it was not me making the request, it was the hacker. If you would like as i said before i can give admins my email and any proof needed.

Decline reason:

No, per WP:GOTHACKED, once an account has been compromised we do not unblock it. Set up a new account with a strong password, and make sure you keep it secure. JohnCD (talk) 19:01, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I will just create a new account, but, is my IP address still blocked? Or can i create a new account now? TylerG518 (talk) 05:44, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can just post here without making a formal unblock request. I have reblocked you with autoblock turned off - you should be able to set up a new account from your IP now. If you find you can't, post here again with a copy of the message you get when you try. JohnCD (talk) 19:15, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Is there any way I can please be unblocked by the admins? I really need to keep this account, I will give as much proof as needed, if their is any way? Thank you, Tyler Goodwin. PS. Is there any way I can post without using an unblock request but for the admins to still see what i wrote.

Decline reason:

As the others have explained, because this account is compromised we cannot be sure that it is really you. I am sorry, but I concur that there is no way around it. When you create a new account, you might consider adding a cryptographic hash to the new account by following the instructions at Template:User_committed_identity. That will allow you to establish that you are again in control of the account, if this ever happens again. Syrthiss (talk) 12:17, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your talk page will be on the watchlist of the admins who have answered so far, but best to use an unblock to bring it to the attention of new ones. I don't see any way we can unblock this account - you sending us email addresses now is no good because we cannot know it is not the hacker sending them. I think you must resign yourself to losing this account, but I will leave the unblock request for another admin to consider. JohnCD (talk) 08:53, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To JohnCD, is there any information that I put in at signup that only I would know? I could give you that information, and, the admin in this unblock decline stated to the hacker that I could be along to appeal myself, and if you look at my contributions, as you can see they were good until that very day. TylerG518 (talk) 18:38, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not JohnCD, but I know that as administrators we are not privy to details of your account. I'm not actually sure that any level of wikipedia functionaries are. I'll let John reply on his own since your question was directed at him, I'm just chiming in from the sidelines. Syrthiss (talk) 18:48, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't think there is. Thats why a WP:Committed identity would (have been) useful - and your plight has spurred me into planning to set one up for myself. A checkuser could say what IP your account has been using, but that would be no help. Sorry, but per WP:GOTHACKED I'm afraid you are going to have to give this account up. JohnCD (talk) 21:57, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To JohnCD (talk), So, just to confirm, technically there is nothing that I can do due to WP:GOTHACKED, and I would be better off resigning the account then taking the chances of the hacker compromising the account again. TylerG518 (talk) 05:23, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm afraid that's right. You can make a link to your new account by putting on its user page something like "This is the new account of TylerG518, former account abandoned after it was hacked", and a similar pointer on the user page of this account linking to the new one. (I think you can still edit this user page: if you find you can't leave a note here and I'll do it for you). JohnCD (talk) 13:41, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To JohnCD (talk) Ok, I guess I will do that then, I will leave a note on the new user page to inform you that it is me. Thank you, i appreciate the help JohnCD.
