Articles for class[edit]

Hi Tyler. All three of these are a bit late for our class. Remember, that we are primarily interested in figures from the pre-Newton period (before about 1720). If you would like you can do oen of these articles and then pair it with an article from before 1720 and split your work over the two. Let me know what you would like to do. Review of article over Catherine de Parthenay[edit]

After looking over your article, it seems to me you have made some solid improvements. As far as content goes, you have some solid information on the basics of who Catherine was and what type of family she was born into. I also thought the information about who she married and the circumstances surrounding these marriages was very good. Some suggestions I would have as far as additional content would be more information about her contributions to mathematics as well as the later events of her life. Why was she considered one of the most brilliant women of her time? What was her legacy? Did she have children? What were her biggest challenges?

Additional suggestions I would make have more to do with grammar and the overall structure of the article. It seems to me unnecessary to list the people Catherine married in the lead. I think just having them under the “Early Life” section would be more appropriate. Also the end of the lead seems to be cut off, simply ending “A Huguenot,”. I would create hyperlinks for “Poitou region” and “Saint Bartholomew’s Day Massacre”. Also, the final sentence under “Early Life” is a run-on sentence and should probably be worded differently. All in all you have made some good additions. Good luck with the rest of your article!

Feel free to take a look at the article I am editing over Isabella Cortese. It would be good to hear any suggestions. ColeAnglin (talk) 02:32, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
