Re. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bruce Beasley, American sculptor

Hi there! Thanks for your email.

I have worked on the article, and I will try to explain the edits I have made, and additional improvements;

Edits I have made[edit]

  • You do not need a heading at the beginning. When the article is live, the page name itself will be the title.
  • There is no need to use <br/> - instead, just leave a single blank line between paragraphs.
  • Sections are made like == This == rather than using bold
  • For bullet-pointed lists, start each line with an asterisk (*), as I have here
  • External links should be e.g. [http://www.Google.com This is Google] - which will appear as This is Google
  • The referencing system, with the numbers, is automatic. The references should be placed within the actual body text, immediately after the fact, between <ref> and </ref> (see my guide at the end of this message)
  • The 'media links' have to appear at the end. External links are only permitted as either references, or within a special section at the end called "External links" - and then, only subject to the external linking policy
  • The reason for the dashed box in the middle was a space at the start of the line;
Lines that begin with a space, like this, are treated as 'comments'

Improvements required[edit]

  • Please add some wikilinks to other articles that are related to the topic. For example, if you put [[Henry Moore]] it will link to that article - Henry Moore. If the title of the article differs from the text to link, you put e.g. ...is an American abstract [[Expressionism|expressionist]] sculptor... - which will appear like this: ...is an American abstract expressionist sculptor...
  • Almost all of the facts in the article require a reference. You can use the same reference several times - see 'named references' below - but certainly all strong 'facts' need a reliable source. The first section has no references at all - we need to be able to verify for example that he "in Los Angeles and currently living and working in Oakland", "his work can be found in the permanent collection of 30 art museums", "He attended Dartmouth College from 1957-59, and the University of California from 1959-62 where he earned his BA." etc.
  • Be especially careful of subjective statements, such as "Beasley uses the metaphor of syntax and grammar" - this looks very much like an opinion rather than a fact, and without a reliable source it would be considered original research, which is not permitted.
  • It must be neutral; many phrases in the article do not conform to a neutral point of view, for example Beasley’s sculpture is profoundly and proudly visual

Please try to address some of the issues above, and let me know on my talk page - or indeed ask any questions for further clarification. Best,  Chzz  ►  12:37, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there.

Thanks for the note; that's fine. Just give me a shout when it is ready to review.

One thing - please remove "CREDIT THE EDIT www.credittheedit.com" from your signature. It's not permitted to advertise on Wikipedia. Thanks,  Chzz  ►  02:31, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
