Archives

I was looking for something (your discussion with Galamore from a few days ago, who I've just blocked as a UPE) and noticed your archives were kind of weirdly broken -- archive 1 existed, but archive 2 and 3 didn't, and it skipped straight to 4. I moved them up so that sigmabot and the archive template at the top of your userpage would work properly; if you don't want it to be that way, feel free to revert me. jp×g🗯️ 06:42, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

I noticed that too but had no idea how to fix it. Thanks a bunch for sorting it out for me! I was also kinda worried about Galamore's editing. They continued creating spammy articles despite being told not to.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 06:51, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

A request for clarification

Hello! @Brother Bhalerao! I also agree with the unnecessaryness of the references you have removed from the introductory part of Article: Abdul Khaliq Madrasi. It is good that you have removed them with a warning. However, I would like to know which resources you feel are unreliable given the tag you have added to the article. Please explain so that the real problem can be understood and improved. Khaatir (talk) 12:40, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Regarding Draft [Pant] Hi Devidatt Pant was a freedom fighter who died in 1982. His only online reference is Government of India site which is on the page. I have some articles written by his son. What other references you need to approve the page?

Request on [Devidatt Pant] for assistance on submission by Anni in

There is only online reference available is Government of India web site which is given in the page. Devidatt Pant was a freedom fighter who dies in 1982 in Bikaner and went Jail with Gandhiji. There is no other online source available. However I have some arcticles written by his son Ramesh Pant who was scientist at Bhabha Anuhakti Sansthan Mumbai. Will that be considered a reliable source? If yes then how to submit that. Thanks

Anni in (talk) 06:55, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Anni in, thanks for reaching out. Most of the information you've included about him isn't supported by the reference you cited in the draft. Wikipedia is a source-based platform. Every tiny piece of information needs to be well sourced to third party, independent, reliable sources. Please refrain from using articles written by his son as references. Also if you have a connection with the subject, it is necessary to disclose it on your userpage. Please see WP:COI and WP:RS for more information.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 10:48, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello, Umakant Bhalerao,

Do you think this article, as it is, is ready for main space? I was getting ready to move it back to Draft space until I saw you had accepted it. Liz Read! Talk! 05:06, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

@Liz Hey, thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry but could you please clarify why you believe it should go back to draft? It is well written and has enough sources. Am I missing something here? Please feel free to edit or revert it back to draft if you think otherwise.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 06:29, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello Umakant Bhalerao,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

ArcaneDoor

Hi. I've added some more cites to reliable sources to Draft:ArcaneDoor to demonstrate notability. These include The Register, and Wired, both of which are marked as reliable on Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources, and Computing, a highly regarded British computer industry trade publication. Can you please re-review the article and let me know if it meets your approval now? — The Anome (talk) 10:21, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

Hubert Kretzchmar

Hubert Kretzschmar graphic designs are in many households and have travelled the world with The Rolling Stone’s exhibits and in galleries. The MOMA in New York City has exhibited his artwork for The Rolling Stones and Kraftwerk. https://www.moma.org/artists/47168 2601:589:4300:3E61:A571:99F7:A0FD:8EF3 (talk) 05:33, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for messaging me. When you first submitted the draft, there was only one reference (Discogs), which is an online music database and not a secondary, independent reliable source. Now, I see you've added more references and you've resubmitted the draft. So, I'll wait for another reviewer to take a look at it. Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 05:53, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Hubert Kretzschmar is searchable on Wikipedia yet his biography is not made. The best information on his schooling, training, and career was on Discogs.

He’s discussed at length in this book on The Rolling Stones:

“Hubert Kretzschmar, photographer and illustrator, said, "As far as I remember Jagger came to the meeting with the title, I knew that there was political unrest in South America around that time, El Salvador, Argentina and Chile. There was no visual concept when I first met with Jagger and he talked about the song Undercover. At that time in 1983 there was a feud between Jagger and Richards, of which I only very much later became aware. They never were in the studio at the same time." Undercover of the night might also describe the manner in which Keith Richards worked on this album. One writer said Jagger recorded between midday and 5 while Richards recorded between midnight and 5 so they could avoid each other. Of that time, Richards says, "It must have been pretty bad for anyone around us who worked in Undercover. A hostile, discordant atmosphere. We were barely talking or communicating and if we were, we were bickering and sniping." Smith's album Cities of the Red Night includes a story about a detective searching for a lost boy who had been abducted for use in a sexual ritual. This may have been the inspiration for the Stones video. cover may have been a casualty of that feud. The album was released November 7, 1983 in a sleazy blue sleeve that featured a vintage peep-show pinup. Fans were protected from her earthly delights by strategically placed stickers. Corriston and Kretzschmar Again The Stones engaged the team of Peter Corriston and Hubert Kretzschmar who had worked successfully for the Stones in preparing the Some Girls and Tattoo You album covers. Corriston designed the covers and Kretzschmar did most of the production work, a relationship they seemed to repeat for Undercover. They are two immensely talented men who do not always see eye-to-eye on each other's roles. Corriston is a Grammy award winning graphic designer who made his bones by producing Physical Graffiti for Led Zeppelin in 1975.”
