June 2017[edit]

As we've discussed at ANI, a month is a little long for a first-time straight-up edit-war block and the term was chosen for symmetry. That said, I'm open to a reduction to 72 hours and a pledge to avoid the topic for a month. When you return, you will be expected to discuss your concerns before making changes to the articles, and I will set protection to ensure that, at least on the articles you've both edited, that you aren't tempted to relapse. Are you willing to agree to avoid that topic, broadly construed (and to avoid edit-warring)? Acroterion (talk) 01:25, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Acroterion's decision to offer you a reduction in your block. He is taking into consideration some extenuating circumstances including that you are a new editor. But you will have to agree to strictly abide a topic ban from not just the articles that both of you have edit warred on but also any that are the same or related topics until Realitytvshow's block has expired. If there is any evidence of your trying to take advantage of this situation you would likely be reblocked for longer. -Ad Orientem (talk) 01:40, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've reduced the term of this block: given the evidence of multiple sockpuppets by the other edit warrior I see no reason to make this block any longer than it would normally be for a first-time edit warring issue. Acroterion (talk) 09:36, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The block kinda hurt me at first cause I wanted to give closure to the argument plus my explanation for the changes I'm trying to make. Unicornaholic243 (talk) 05:51, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's not intended to hurt, it's just meant to stop disruption to the encyclopedia. Please remember that you can't edit-war and that back-and-forth "I'm right and they aren't" arguments don't get much sympathy. Please use the talkpage to discuss things and find consensus. Odds are that they other editor will come back in some form and will have to be dealt with - let us know if that happens. Acroterion (talk) 11:22, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Unicornaholic243. You are a bit new here so we are making allowances for that and I'm sorry if you felt put off by the block. After we took a closer look at the disagreement between you and the other editor both Acroterion and I felt that while no one had completely clean hands, the other editor bore a much larger share of responsibility for the situation and that the original term of your block (1 month) was excessive. That's why Acroterion reduced your block so drastically. Since your nemesis then went on to try and evade their block they have been blocked indefinitely. Hopefully they will not try and sneak back but past experience suggests it's possible. In any case if you have any more trouble with other editors don't get into a back and forth edit war with them no matter how irritating they may be. Take a look at WP:DR for ideas on how to handle dispute resolution. If you think someone is behaving inappropriately or abusively, ask another experienced editor for help. Also we are both available to help. You can message either of us by clicking on the Talk link at the end of our signatures or alternatively if you want to draw our attention to a discussion here or somewhere else on Wikipedia just ping us by using this format {{ping|Ad Orientem}} and/or {{ping}Acroterion}}. Since it appears you never got a proper welcome I am posting a guide for newcomers below that will help you find your way around. Again we regret the recent unpleasantness and hope you will put this behind you and have fun time editing here on Wikipedia. -Ad Orientem (talk) 15:38, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
To echo Ad Orientem's more eloquent note above, we're sorry you had such a rough first experience. I'll be keeping an eye on some of the articles that were disrupted and on this talkpage, and will act as needed when I'm around. There are a few people more skilled than I am at sockpuppet hunting who watch my talkpage, so feel free to post there if you see trouble. I would still advise you to stay out of edit wars - raise your hand if someone reverts you more than once and don't get drawn into edit-wars. It's easy to do ("Somebody's wrong! I must resist them!") but it's more productive to report them. Acroterion (talk) 00:58, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Can I go back to revamping the Ink Master season pages without creating an edit war or stay out of there until further notice?Unicornaholic243 (talk) 03:31, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You are free to edit pretty much anywhere on Wikipedia. Just be sure to follow the guidelines and cite a reliable source for anything that is not obviously non-controversial. I am also going to remove the block notice from your talk page since it is inaccurate and in any case obsolete. Happy editing! -Ad Orientem (talk) 03:36, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I tried by my best to find the actual cover after Warner released a press that has the Blu-Ray cover in the TVShowsonDVD link. But my upload was the only one I found except it has white bars.Unicornaholic243 (talk) 14:48, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

July 2017[edit]

I don't understand why am I blocked? Unicornaholic243 (talk) 19:46, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
According to check user you are really Leviathan648. See the notice on your user page for the details. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:50, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
How long is this going to last.Unicornaholic243 (talk) 19:52, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked indefinitely. Here's the deal. You have been caught socking. And apparently this isn't the first time. So that's a really serious problem. If you want to come back the only way that is going to happen is if you come clean, admit to it all and openly name any and all accounts that you have created. Next you need to stop trying to evade your block and doing anymore socking. That means not editing anywhere on Wikipedia. And you need to do this for at least six months but given this is not your first offense I am thinking a year or longer. Then you can come back to your first account and post a request to be unblocked per WP:STANDARDOFFER. There are no guarantees but that is your only real hope at this point. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:58, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Another quick point. This block only applies to the English Wikipedia. This means you can still edit on some of the other wiki projects. If you come back in a year and can show a history of constructive editing somewhere else, like at COMMONS or Simple English that might count in your favor. But you can't flout the community's rules like this. -Ad Orientem (talk) 20:01, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
How about six months unless I start to confess.Unicornaholic243 (talk) 20:08, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't a negotiation. I agree with Ad Orientem that a year would be the earliest and you have to acknowledge any accounts you've created (the first time you were blocked for socking I believe it was for doing so while logged out).--Bbb23 (talk) 20:14, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) You can apply for a standard offer anytime after six months. I am just suggesting a year because I doubt one would be granted after only six months. These things aren't automatic. And a full confession including naming ALL of your sock accounts would be an absolute requirement. And I hope it goes w/o saying that any future socking would pretty much seal your indefinite block. I really hate blocking editors who I believe generally mean well and I think that is true of most admins. But sockpuppetry is pretty much a capital offense around here. And this is not your first time so you are going to need to show that you can abide by our rules and guidelines if you want to be allowed back. -Ad Orientem (talk) 20:16, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree that this is an editor who "mean[s] well". Putting aside the sock blocks, they've been blocked multiple times for edit-warring.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:21, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. In any event I will not support granting a Standard Offer for at least one year subject to the other conditions outlined above. -Ad Orientem (talk) 20:26, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So this means I can come back in a year and then explain my actions?Unicornaholic243 (talk) 04:08, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest that you don't try to explain. There is no excuse for sockpuppetry. Stick to "I did this and I'm sorry." If you have any other accounts floating around I would name them right now. In the meantime try your hand on some of the other wiki-projects and see if you can establish a record showing constructive editing over the next year. That would likely help if/when you come back and ask for a standard offer. You have gotten off to a bad start here, but it's not the end of the world. Others have done worse and come back. But you must learn to respect our rules and guidelines and right now that is going to mean taking at least a year off from here. And please try to remember that there is a whole world outside of Wikipedia. Too many people on here don't realize that. -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:54, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't get it with sock puppets and how they're related. My orginal account Leviathan648 was blocked indefinately, so I created a new one just to escape from being targeted by other users because they think I've been doing some disruptive editing. I was trying to explain the truth about a user uploading a manufacture on demand DVD cover being uploaded onto a season page since its not needed. But they refuse to listen.Unicornaholic243 (talk) 17:37, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's called block evasion and it is a really serious no no. You can appeal a block, but you aren't allowed to ignore it. And the fact that you don't seem to understand this only underscores your need for an extended break from here. I don't doubt that you believed you were acting for what you believed to be good reasons. But this is not an anything goes environment. We have rules and guidelines and your history of socking and edit warring can't be ignored. Take a look on the front page near the bottom. There are whole bunch of linked wiki-projects you can go work on. But I think this discussion has run its useful course for now. Unless you have some other usernames you want to disclose I suggest you move on and come back in the second half of next year. Final reminder: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EVADE YOUR BLOCK. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:44, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
