Proposed deletion of "St. Paul Principles"[edit]

The deletion of an article you created, St. Paul Principles, has been proposed for the following reason:

No assertion of notability that is independent from the RNC.

You are welcome to improve the article to meet Wikipedia's quality standards and remove the deletion notice from the article. You may also remove the notice if you disagree with the deletion, though in such cases, further discussion may take place at Articles for deletion, and the article may still be deleted if there is a consensus to do so.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy. You may wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Notability of St. Paul Principles[edit]

You asked why the St. Paul Principles do not meet our notability requirements. The reference you entered does not mention them by name, and merely states that an agreement took place, without details on the terms of the agreement. So we cannot determine, from your reference, that the Wikipedia accurately portrays the agreement.

In short, the protests themselves are notable, but probably not the various organizations behind the protests, and certainly not their guiding principles on how to conduct a protest. So the best place in Wikipedia to mention these principles (that is, if you can properly source them) is within the article on the 2008 RNC.

Since the article is up for deletion, the best place to ask about that is not on my talk page, but in the deletion discussion itself, so that everybody involved will see both the questons and the answers. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 10:16, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
