Please slow down[edit]

Hello Untileveryoneisfree. Thank you for your recent contributions, however I must ask you again to please slow down and consider our policies before contributing further, since there are numerous issues with some of your recent contributions. Some examples:

  • Please be aware that you only need to wikilink a word once per article, not every time it is used.
  • When uploading images, please ensure you are in a position to license them in the manner you have. For example, you claim to be the copyright holder of a number of photos that are published elsewhere and appear to have been taken in various countries around the world. Are you really in a position to relinquish copyright for all of these? If not, then you should not be using that license.
  • Please do no log in and out of your account and edit the same article, it could be seen as sockpuppetry.
  • In List of acts claimed by the ALF you have been listing acts based solely on communiques posted online. Please be aware of WP:V, the article is not for simply restating what is posted in the ALF's website, acts must be notable enough to be listed and verified by a secondary source. One that is established, the primary sourced can be used to fill out detail (though please be careful of POV language such as "vivisector".)

Such is the rate of your additions, that it is difficult to keep up, especially when you revert attempt to copy-edit your work. I am aware that previous accounts of yours has Doingwhatwikitellsme (talk · contribs), Untileverycageisempty (talk · contribs) and Untilallarefree (talk · contribs) because "your editing itself is highly problematic" and "You are engaging in advocacy". This means you are using another account to evade a block and are could be blocked again. That is not my goal, but you really need to heed the advice offered to you in all of those accounts: slow down, read up on policy and beware of advocacy. Thanks. Fair use rationale for Image:Flamcircus.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Flamcircus.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Some advice, if it's wanted[edit]

Hi, there has been some discussion about your edits on the Animal rights WikiProject here, and I offered to have a word with you about our policies, if it would help.

We have three key content policies:

  • Wikipedia:Neutral point of view (NPOV) says we must edit from a neutral point of view, and not engage in advocacy.
  • Wikipedia:Verifiability (V) says that any edit that's challenged or likely to be challenged needs a reliable source; and by "reliable," we mean a source that has some form of editorial oversight and a fact-checking process.
  • Wikipedia:No original research (NOR) says that we're not allowed to add our own opinions, theories, or arguments to articles.

If you stick very closely to these three principles, you should be fine, but they're harder to adhere to than they sound. This is particularly the case with animal rights, because there are lots of editors on Wikipedia who have strong feelings against the subject, and who will challenge edits that otherwise might not be challenged. That means you have to be particularly careful, make sure that everything supported, and write about it in a disinterested tone, sticking closely to what the sources say.

I think some of the problems with your edits have been that you're using ALF-related websites and Indymedia to document ALF actions, but this is what we call "unverifiable," meaning that we have no independent source to tell us that these things actually happened, or that any source other than the activists felt it was worth writing about.

For that reason, WP:V requires us to provide a source that's independent of the ALF. That doesn't mean the ALF can't be used as a source too. It can, in articles about its own actions. But we also need another source e.g. a mainstream newspaper, to tell us "Yes, this happened, and yes, someone other than the ALF thinks it's notable enough to write about."

As for the images, we've already been in correspondence with a spokesperson for the ALF on this issue, and have been told that all images taken in the name of the ALF are automatically released into the public domain. If that's what your images are, then the best tag is {{PD-author}}, then explain on the image page that all images taken on behalf of the ALF are public domain.

If you want me to explain more, I'd be very happy to, so feel free to contact me on my talk page or by e-mail -- slimvirgin at gmail dot com. Cheers, SlimVirgin (talk)(contribs) 12:18, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I meant to add that Rockpocket, the admin who has written to you, is someone who is extremely fair when it comes to issues he disagrees with. He himself is not an animal rights supporter, but he strongly supports editing within the policies and will defend material even when he doesn't like it, if it's policy-compliant. So he's a good person to take advice from. SlimVirgin (talk)(contribs) 12:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alf[edit]

I've programmed a bot that can change all the <ref> tags to <ref>{{cite tags these tradidonally look more professional as they have Named sources at the bottom of the page. With all the links to get titles for, its a slow bot though (30 - 45 mins?) I would need you to halt editing for that period of time. Let me know if you're game. --68.243.6.169 (talk) 02:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Leaderless resistance[edit]

I strongly urge you to stop reverting without discussion or justification as you did here. If you continue to do I will not hesitate to report the actions to the admin that previously blocked you. That would be unfortunate because you are a good source of material, however you need to work with others to ensure it is both policy compliant and neutrally phrased. Please undo your revert. Rockpocket 07:56, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats Ok. I understand how what appears to be normal language from one perspective can be problematic from a neutral perspective. This is why it is good to work together with people from all sorts of backgrounds. By the way, we shouldn't duplicate the material at List of animal rights groups. Each group only needs to be listed once. I would recommend removing the Leaderless resistance movements/campaigns and simply liking to that article. Rockpocket 08:07, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry. I didn't make myself clear and I think you misunderstood. The material is fine to be duplicated at List of animal rights groups and Leaderless resistance. The problem is that there are two sections within List of animal rights groups that are essentially the same Thats what I meant about duplication. Rockpocket 08:17, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the recent edit you made to Southern Animal Rights Coalition has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 15:11, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

YouTube[edit]

Hello. When you're placing YouTube video links in articles can you please use YouTube and not You Tube? The latter does redirect to the former, but the official name is YouTube. Thank you. Andreworkney (talk) 16:37, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Untileveryoneisfree for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. SchmuckyTheCat (talk) 17:11, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Bite Back do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: 'youtube\.com' (link(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5Xc_DZRMs8) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image or a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Animal Liberation Press Office. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Behind the Mask (ALF), you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from all of Wikipedia.

Speedy deletion of Image:Speakmarch.gif[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Speakmarch.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Speakmarch.gif|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion of Image:Novartisspain.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Novartisspain.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Novartisspain.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay.
