Could you please comment on how to program an archival bot for Wikipedia:Editor review that is both feasible and advisable? My inclination is to keep the current system, i.e. alphabetical order, with the date of the first edit to the page noted. I am willing to sacrifice either of these points if it makes the bot operator's job easier. In other words, we could forget about alphabetical order and archive by month, or we could simply not bother to note the date of each individual request. I am posting this message to several users active at Editor Review to solicit opinions. Shalom (HelloPeace) 03:53, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On image sources[edit]

The metadata for every image (right down the very bottom of the image page) shows details of the camera used to take the photo. Bluegoblin's images all show they were taken with an Olympus UD600, while Shanner's were taken with a Minolta Dimage. Not proof of anything - and it is possible (albeit difficult) to fake metadata - but certainly points against sockpuppetry.iridescent 15:33, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Hi Useight; I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. • delete User:Nehrams2020/Userboxes/Blues_Brothers

  • I don't particularly think that 15 minutes is a good time window, thus i've created my own little way of statusing myself (still uses statusbot). You can see it here: User talk:Xenocidic/infobox/status.
{{ #switch: {{User:StatusBot/Status/Xenocidic}}
 | online=online
 | offline={{ #ifexpr:  ({{#time:U}}-{{#time:U|{{User:StatusBot/Status/Xenocidic/LastEdit}}}}) > 7200 | offline |
           {{ #ifexpr:  ({{#time:U}}-{{#time:U|{{User:StatusBot/Status/Xenocidic/LastEdit}}}}) > 1800 | recent  | online }}
           }}
}}

It returns "online" if statusbot says so, or my last edit was within 30 minutes (1800 seconds), it returns "recent" if last edit was within 2 hours (7200 seconds), and "offline" otherwise. I've also modified Wikipedia:Highly_Active_Users/Status to accept the "recent" paramater (hope that's ok), though I couldn't find an appropriate matching symbol. (Is there an orange vote?) xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 13:18, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My reply here
Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse things. This is only for people who aren't happy with StatusBot's reporting windows, and they should make the changes themselves if they wish (doesn't need to be done HAU-wide). That being said, I've made it a lot simpler by creating {{Truestatus}}. The template documentation should explain it. Now people won't have to create their own status pages as you intimated. xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 15:39, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree we need to nail down some requirements. Users who demonstratively do not have the trust of the community should not be there, IMO. Obviously only active users should be there. Question about vandalism[edit]

Hey, I've got a little question about vandalism. How many warnings is enough to block a user. I ran across User:Lfatboy, and it seems that 80% of his edits are non-constructive, and blantantly vandalism. I gave him Uw-vandalism1, 2, and 3 templates, but I was curious if it was typical/necessary to give five warnings before blocking a user. In this case, almost all of his edits were vandalism, so would 3 warnings be enough, and then the fourth time block him? Or is it always 5 warnings, then block? -- TIM KLOSKE|TALK 21:53, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From the looks of WP:HAU, your online and Steve's not. I was wondering how you think of me contributing to to help desk. --RyRy5 (talk copy-edit) 00:56, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for telling me. And that edit summary, I think that was an accident. I probably wasn't paying much attention. I will be more careful in the future. Regards, --RyRy5 (talk copy-edit) 01:42, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re Comments at Sockpuppet case[edit]

Hey, I can see where Realist is coming from. He's afraid that comments appearing accusatory will weigh heavily against the user in the future, perhaps even at his/her next RfA, painting them perpetually in a negative light. Although, the case itself is a stain on the record. To be fair, you'll notice my comments on said page mirror your thoughts almost exactly. It's about confession and avoiding nasty consequences. Everyone should assume good faith, yes, but sometimes there is a preponderance of evidence that shakes our ability to recite the policy with unwavering resolve. I feel that this is the case here. The fact is, a sockpuppetry case wouldn't have even been opened in the first place if WP:AGF prevailed all the time. It's not a get out of jail free card, you know? I don't think any of your comments were uncivil or libelous (the latter is a very nasty term). Although, I think perhaps you and I made the fundamental error of not letting the evidence speak for itself. Know what I mean? Wisdom89 (T / C) 04:19, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your userpage design[edit]

I was going to ask if you wanted it removed or not. So, how is it so far? --RyRy5 (talk copy-edit) 04:44, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

masculine divboxes[edit]

LOL way to make me feel all self-concious about my "lavender" divboxes! (Fixed) xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 12:20, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. One suggestion if you're going to keep the black background is to span-style the links so that they're bold red (or whatever font colour you settle on) the dark blue is tough to read on the black background. xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 14:55, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here's an example of how to do it. I'm not gunna lie though - I'm not a fan of the black background, so your other idea would be best =) xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 15:02, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

new colour scheme[edit]

definately better than the black, but now it makes the blue links hard to read (lol). make the links bold-black, or lighten the blue. xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 15:50, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Back![edit]

I'm back dudes!!!! And yes school 7:30 to 2:30 PM. Has everything been resolved? Don't worry I'm fine. A good night's sleep helped. My mom even yelled at me for being on the computer for so long. But I now have a 3-day weekend due to memorial day. PS I live in oxnard, CA. Pacific time. Daylights saving time too. Offset from utc:-7 hours. I'll begin accepting apologies now.;)Xp54321 (Vandals Beware!!!,Contribs) 21:48, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I see, I have nothing against you. And I have no reason to have anything against you. Thanks. This is a good lesson teacher. If my LA(English) teacher knew about this she'd make us write a 5 page essay! Thanks for AGF!!!! :DXp54321 (Vandals Beware!!!,Contribs) 22:07, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions[edit]

First of all. How do you like your current userpage design? And yes, I know some things changed. Also, what is an autoblock and cool down block? Steve doesn't seem to be online again. We was though... --RyRy5 (talk copy-edit) 23:33, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info. Oh, and why can't cool down blocks be used?--RyRy5 (talk copy-edit) 01:58, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Thanks. I'll continue renovating your userpage in a little while. I'm currently busy with adminisrator actions at The Test Wiki. You can make an account there if you want. --RyRy5 (talk copy-edit) 02:09, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
