Peter Gurnz (Peter Eaton Guernsey III, born April 3, 1979 in Mt. Kisco, New York) is an artist, painter, photographer, designer, and founder of BOXeight Productions, a multidimensional art, media, and productions company in Downtown Los Angeles.
Biography[edit]
Gurnz attended Rhode Island School of Design, and there began serving creative communities and managing artists. During that time, he developed many professional contacts, as well as his knowledge of the fashion/entertainment industry. Gurnz started his professional career selling unique ceramics, paintings and photographs on New York City streets in SoHo, which were featured in ELLE Magazine.[citation needed] Shortly thereafter he began a collaboration with artist Peter Beard.
In 2006 Gurnz swapped coasts and founded BOXeight Productions in downtown Los Angeles. BOXeight currently has over 50 members who specialize in Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Music. Gurnz offers management services and inspiration and exposure opportunities to amateur artists. In 2009 Gurnz ran for a position on the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council as the Arts Culture and Education Director [citation needed].
Gurnz has collaborated with The Gallery Row Association, The Downtown Artisans, 944 Magazine, Elite Model Management, as well as Gen Art and various clubs in and around downtown. Gurnz worked with developer Gary Warfel and built a business model for a branded artist community and event production company incorporating all areas of the arts. This model provided a platform for mediums to integrate with and inform each another, with an objective of creating new forms of art.
BOXeight[edit]
BOXeight is a LA-based multidimensional art/media/production company, founded by Peter Gurnz, dedicated to the rejuvenation of Downtown Los Angeles, and the reorganization of a Los Angeles arts community. This was the motivation behind BOXeight bringing Fashion Week back to Downtown Los Angeles in Spring 2007. [1] BOXeight Fashion Week has showcased multiple designers including Eduardo Lucero, Jared Gold, Kevin Johnn, and Jeffrey Sebelia.
