"Deshastha as mentioned elsewhere in the article are Indo-Aryan. Appearance wise, they are similar to other communities in Maharashtra. H.H. Risley's work during the 1901 census [1] found Deshastha to be indistinguishable from most other castes like Maratha or Koli in Maharashtra.[3]"

This is a scholarly work cited by a number of authors during the last century. Genetic work also supports Risley's work that most castes of Maharashtra are very similar to each other. The same applies, for example, to Brahmins of Bengal. They are similar to other bengalis rather than brahmins of other region.

"Baji Prabhu Deshpande and Bal Thackeray are the noted historic and contemporary members of this community respectively"

Why do you think it was necessary to delete this sentence from Marathi people? sorry for this removal.

thank you.

Unspecified source for Image:Rajguru.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rajguru.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:03, 19 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? MECUtalk 14:03, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Bapuji Mudgal Deshpande[edit]

A tag has been placed on Bapuji Mudgal Deshpande requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. -Axmann8 (Talk) 07:20, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Chimanaji Deshpande has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced, and tagged as such, since 2009. An IP removed most of the text, unexplained, in Feb 2013: I've restored that text, but if nothing about this person can be sourced he should not be in the encyclopedia. A quick Google search finds nothing.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
