Confederate Army

I object. Recently an anonymous editor reverted your "strengths and weaknesses" section in toto at Confederate Army. I liked it. Sounded right out of John Keegan's "The American Civil War: a military history". Deletion was excused by its not having a citation -- and poorly written ???? Okay, I would have left out "interestingly". --- really? poorly written?? -- do you have a chum following your contributions at WP and pulling your chain? Confederate Army

Sometimes administrators are listed in the Talk page heading. There is an automatic interest group in the listed Wikiprojects or in this case "Task Force" at the for a third party take on the issue ... toggle [show] on the Additional Information line in the header box at Talk:Confederate States Army. They should be listed in a Request for Comment (RFC).

When I recently went to the WP:Teahouse for a strategy to avoid controversy, the advice was first use a Request for Comment on the Talk page, see the WP:RFC page, where it shows you how to add a notice at multiple Wikiproject pages.

That assumes good faith, first try to talk it out by calling attention to the issue, --- way before anybody gets warned/blocked for edit warring WP:edit warring (three reversions within 24 hours, or without discussion on the Talk page) or the back-and-forth becomes eligible for the 'dispute resolution' WP:dispute resolution when it becomes prolonged. Orwell

Thank you for your kind words. I blush.

In "Answers" you report that you attended English boarding school. I wonder if you've read much of George Orwell's works? I was thinking specifically of his autobiographical essay of his schools days at St. Cyprians, "Such, Such Were the Joys". Never was a great Orwell fan. When he was deliberately freezing and starving in the North of England, most people were laughing behind his back. I was raised on Wodehouse, H.G. I, too, immersed myself in the works of H. G. Wells as a boy, especially a collection called "28 stories". I committed to memory the first lines of "The Time Machine": "THE TIME TRAVELLER (for so it will be convenient to speak of him) was expounding a recondite matter to us. His grey eyes shone and twinkled, and his usually pale face was flushed and animated...." Orwell joins us in praise for Wells. He recalls, "I had read and re-read the entire published works of Shaw, Wells, and Galsworthy (at that time still regarded as dangerously ‘advanced’ writers..."

As for Doyle, I recently reread some of his Sherlock Holmes adventures. They still delight!

On the public's perception of Orwell, that "most people were laughing behind his back" when he was collecting material as a journalist among the homeless and unemployed...well, I hope you won't include that in the wiki article without a couple citations.

As for Wodehouse, his rather naive cooperation with Nazi propogandists while interned was entirely innocent, and the charges of collaboration were grossly unjust. I (generally) agree with your related comments that leads don't need cites if the info is cited in the article. It's a stylistic choice that I would like to see adhered to more often on wikipedia. The referenced article after the sentence you changed on Kevin Federline says that Ms. Jackson said nice things about his parenting skills. This is referred to as a "compliment".
