CovenantD has repeatedly violated the 3RR rule in two areas. First, research is not the same as a survey. That's basic English and Statistics. I have had an account with Wikipedia for a long time. I while ago I found out about some of Wikipedia's sister projects and tried to log in to them, but I found to my dismay that the accounts did not transfer from one project to another. As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. A system of article importance ratings has been introduced to accompany the existing article quality ratings. Help with rating articles would highly appreciated!
Five months ago, as we were in the midst of coordinator elections, Loopy commented that "I don't think it's unrealistic to imagine this project as one of the most prominent and effective ones around in say, a year's time." Since then:
We have grown from just under a hundred members to nearly 300, and appear to be the second largest WikiProject (lagging, curiously enough, behind WP:COMICS).
From one small task force, we have grown to include seventeen.
Instead of a hand-made worklist of a few hundred articles, we now have one that is quickly approaching 10,000, and forms nearly a third of the overall 1.0 worklist effort.
I'd say—without any unrealistic optimism—that we're well on our way to fulfilling those expectations!

Can you help me a bit with the history of Mongols prior to Ghenghis Khan. They were recognized by the Jin Empire and seem to have some link to the Liao-dynasty in China. After a defeat in 1150 when they were under the comand of Kabul Khan (spelling varies) civil war broke out untill Ghenghis Khan reunited them. It is mentioned that Chinese diplomacy played a part keeping them in civil war. Can you help me find out, what they did exactly? Thx. I think it is very useful to understand the later war between Song and Mongols. In the process of notifying the user in question of the result, I noticed he hadn't been welcomed, and did so with the standard template. In response, I got a very long, somewhat confused note on my userpage (also posted at User talk:The Songbird ov Summer Place, which I post below as well.) The text was obviously written by a not-very-proficient-in-English speaker in Hong Kong, whom I'm assuming speaks Chinese. The note is very kind, addressed to me as a person "in authority" and requesting assistance. The user seems to be a professional musician of some sort. Beyond that, I can't make much of it. I thought, perhaps, that you might be best equipped to speak with the user in their native language; or, to know of another admin or trusted user who would do so. I would be happy to pay someone "friendly" and Expert, who could edit and maintain our information in Wikipedia Encyclopedia by next year Summer / Fall. Someone who never opposed me but welcome me. Because, we don't have much time, skills, and even oftenly, we don't have time to monitor our page on this open source, we don't need oppositions.
The reason why I chose to protect the page was because, we are categorized as controversial entertainment producer by our legals. We are the official information owners. We don't treat this wikipedia as our private blog as how someone accused us. We can afford our own system outthere. However, we care if other people to deface our information and to mislead our readers, because of their vandalism intentions. It even took me for weeks to figure out how to put that padlock sign on our wiki page.
Xoloz, before I saw your warm welcome letter, I have already decided to Ban any article about us from Wikipedia. I already talked to my lawyers that I don't want any of our articles in the future to be placed by someone or anyhow in the Wikipedia, and regard it as unofficial information. This was because, I feel I am not welcomed by smart people in the pedia-world. We don't need to be harrassed by those people, merely just over the matter of free open-source.
However, Xoloz, since I read your words, who is the authority of the system, and in fact is more friendly than the common volunteer-editors, I have decided to appreciate Wikipedia once more. I know there are separations between real authority and busy bodies.

Hello, I posted some of my concerns at the talk page of WP:CHINA and {{WP:MILHIST]], but then I have some more, not sure if you've read the noticeboard yet. I suppose this came up because I like categorising things, and then there is the definition of what is a warlord and what is not. The article warlord lists Mao Zedong and Zhu De as warlords, even. I've talked with someone who even regarded Sun Yat-Sen as a warlord, or even Chiang Kai-Shek. Where do we go on this?
Also, I notice that for some articles like Bai Chongxi, the article isn't too clear about how they became warlords in the first place. It would guess a lot of warlords may have been sons of Qing magistrates, or Qing governors (who declared their independence during the Xinhai Revolution)? Of course, that's my guess about how all these people born in the 1880s-1890s managed to control entire provinces so quickly. It's my opinion that we should have a greater article on the concept:
For example:
Even in the Qing Dynasty, some governors were effectively their own regional warlords (this sort of made the warlord era inevitable)
It seems that the Beiyang warlords are treated unfavourably and have their "warlord" characteristics emphasised (Feng Yuxiang, et al.) while the warlords friendly to KMT - though not necessarily to Chiang - (Li Tsung-Jen, Bai Chongxi...) don't concentrate too much on their role as military governors.
Warlordism definitely lasted beyond 1916-1928
Many warlords held positions in the central government, if anything the central government wasn't really any different from most other warlord governments (they all ruled by military might)
It seems to be a recurring feature in Chinese history, enough to warrant two levels of scope

Hi there Miborovsky! I just wanted to drop you a line to say that your participation in RfA is both welcome and appreciated. Your employment of the 1FA standard is quite fine and a very valid reason, largely because it is your own and people should respect that (most do!). Scores of "votes" have been cast naming the 1FA standard as a reason to support or oppose a candidate. I would agree with you. However I encourage everyone to not view candidates in such a black and white fashion, and to recognize the the same values and attributes evidenced by writing a featured article can be evidenced in other ways. Hi there. I just wanted to ask you about your frequently cited 1FA requirement for your RFA standards. I am by no means criticizing you for this, but merely asking you more for your rationale to compare it with mine. See, I am also big on mainspace contributions, and I think that writing a featured article shows some amount of determination, intelligence, capability, and willingness to work on the part of the nominee. But I think that one can be incredibly helpful and involved without writing a featured article, and if I saw a candidate who created several very good articles but not one that has attained featured status, I would nevertheless be satisfied. Also, with more popular articles, it's hard to say who "wrote" it when it is usually a group effort, and many claim to have written featured articles when they were only part of a larger coalition, especially considering the (exponentially )growing number of editors on Wikipedia and static number of featured articles. I have expanded the article on the battle of Xinkou substantially since it is one of the 22 major engagements of the 2nd Sino-Japanese War, also the first time 3 parties (CCP, KMT, warlords) fought on a united front during the war. 1. The ditch photograph has not been claimed (that I could see) to be faked. In any case, there is independent verification that it was not, because it appeared in the journal. The only issue is whether or not it can be counted as part of the Nanjing massacres.
2. The water photograph was not claimed to be faked or staged. It was that the bodies were soldiers and/or couldn't be regarded as being casualties of Nanjing.
3. To say "revisionist Japanese historians" is POV, because it leaves out questions raised by other historians. Not everyone that says there are problems with the pictures says that Nanjing never happened. John Smith's 18:28, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
1. I'll say it again, the issue of the ditch photo is one of location. It is that the captions are incorrect.
2. If you say "faked", the first thing people will thing of is that they were edited or something. When using a short caption, you need to think of the first thing someone will think about.
3. Revisionist has negative connotations. Again, people will think that means denialists. If there was a large section where you could explain the views more carefully, that might be more appropriate. But in any case, in similar articles I and other editors have kept the language careful. Over at the Armenian genocide, I avoided using accusatory terms like "revisionist" when describing individuals, because editors would complain it suggested the academics were denialists. The page is now locked indefinitely because some people wanted to use "Recognition and denial" to discuss pro/anti views, rather than "Support/Opposition".
