Am I correct that this amounts to a swap of the histories of the two articles? Can you look at the results and see if they are OK? My guess is that other articles that link to these two will be in a puzzling state for a while. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 05:52, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Books & Bytes New Years Double Issue[edit]

Books & Bytes

Volume 1 Issue 3, December/January 2013

(Sign up for monthly delivery)

Happy New Year, and welcome to a special double issue of Books & Bytes. We've included a retrospective on the changes and progress TWL has seen over the last year, the results of the survey TWL participants completed in December, some of our plans for the future, a second interview with a Wiki Love Libraries coordinator, and more. Here's to 2014 being a year of expansion and innovation for TWL!

The Wikipedia Library completed the first 6 months of its Individual Engagement grant last week. Here's where we are and what we've done:

Increased access to sources: 1500 editors signed up for 3700 free accounts, individually worth over $500,000, with usage increases of 400-600%
Deep networking: Built relationships with Credo, HighBeam, Questia, JSTOR, Cochrane, LexisNexis, EBSCO, New York Times, and OCLC
New pilot projects: Started the Wikipedia Visiting Scholar project to empower university-affiliated Wikipedia researchers
Developed community: Created portal connecting 250 newsletter recipients, 30 library members, 3 volunteer coordinators, and 2 part-time contractors
Tech scoped: Spec'd out a reference tool for linking to full-text sources and established a basis for OAuth integration
Broad outreach: Wrote a feature article for Library Journal's The Digital Shift; presenting at the American Library Association annual meeting

New article: Waiting for your validation[edit]

Hi, Vchimpanzee

On 16:55, 28 December 2013‎, we'll do some changes in a new article about the catalan writer Nuria Perpinyà. (The issues for submission have been solved. All notes are valid and reliable references of secondary sources. This article falls into category of catalan writers (literature).)

We're waiting for your answer. Do you think now the new article is ready to be published in Wikipedia?

Thank you very much

Apologies[edit]

Hi, I was looking at one of my email accounts today for unrelated reasons, and found two emails with the Bennett College screenshot from you. As this isn't an email address I use very often and it's not the one I receive my wikipedia emails from, I neglected to check it when you said you had emailed me. Checking my email history I see you had used that email address before (although your most recent direct email besides the Bennett College one was to the one I used for most wikipedia emails). And I had suggested you could email me there when we first communicated. So I wholeheartedly apologise for the confusion and problems I caused when I said I did not receive your emails when they were received and I was just checking the wrong account. Nuria Perpinya/new article[edit]

I attempted a response to your question.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 22:52, 8 November 2013 (UTC) You asked for help on my talk page. There are numerous problems with this article that have to be solved before it can be considered. The present tense is used where it should be past tense. The references are not properly formatted. You need to use rather than footnote numbers. Each citation should appear after the information it verifies. There are no links to other Wikipedia articles, and section headings should be in the format ==Section heading== which automatically generates a table of contents.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:25, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Many thanks, Vchimpanzee: I've read your talk about diacritics. We can erase the accents in english. It would be easier for the people. I'm confused if I have to open a new user and repite again the article about the writer. I fear the information about NP is already done and there and could be duplicated as the talk response of Anon 126 suggests. It seems I've to leave the article where it is; and at the moment do nothing more, and wait for you and other reviewers if you think the article is suitable to be published in Wikipedia.

Meanwhile, I've reply to another reviewer who thinks that the sources are not reliable or independent, and I tell him that they are secondary source very objetive and neutral. (No extensive coverage in independent nor reliable sources, therefore non-notable. See WP:AUTHOR. References to her own published work are primary sources and they do not establish notability. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 13:26, Yesterday (UTC+0)) I hope, all these questions could be solved! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Copiacertificada (talkcontribs) 11:49, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Saint Thomas Christians[edit]

Since you were reading the article on "Liberal Christianity" but do not seem to have an agenda for one viewpoint over another, you might be interested in the discussion (or discussions) on the Talk page of the article Saint Thomas Christians. The latest discussion (as on so many Talk pages) has apparently provoked some emotions. If you want to add your opinion, I guess you'd have to start by reading the article, but after you do that, and read the discussion up to this point, perhaps you can help calm things down. I am working on the article - but I have articles for creation question[edit]

Hello Vchimpanzee

I am working on the article & will re-edit. I'm not sure how I did this, but it appears that my article Canadian Registered Safety Professional is not in the Articles for Creation but in the articles space. Should/could it be reverted to the Articles for Creation area? This might be better as I'm scrambling with the coding as fast as I can because I don't want the article to be removed. I will probably have more time and not panic if it is in the Articles for Creation area and then once everything is okay then moved to the article space? Is that how it should work? I will try to do what I can later today with the edits, as I now see what you are stating in terms of verifiable resources & I have links for them.AdBCWi14 (talk) 20:29, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Vchimpanzee

the article is adjusted as per your suggestions. Can you please assist? If there is something completely wrong please let me know as I would like the tag removed. I am following the same guidelines as the other two associations referenced within the article and they do not have tags. More references were added (external) with evidence that the designation is legitimate and I've expanded on the requirements steps with more detail as you suggested. The tone is neutral unless you see something specifically wrong. I would like to move forward on this asap. Is there another alternative in Wiki to get editors to actually adjust and help with the article? I am looking at this route as it seems it is not right even though I see the other associations with basically the same type of information. In the Teahouse an editor stated that it is fine to leave the article in this space as opposed to the draft space. Is there one main editor to report to per article? Journey Reunion[edit]

As long as we don't create a section with the word "rumor" in it," I think this source is as good as any. You could just add a brief paragraph to the history section, perhaps something like:

"As of 2014, Steve Perry and Neal Schon are in discussions for a second band reunion. According to Perry '[w]e’re trying. It’s tough. I’m doing my best in that area, and I can only do so much. The older I get, the more I do realize how important what we had all together and how it worked, [lifting] each other to this place that you can’t get to alone. I think that’s probably the biggest chemistry thing I recognize now.' As for Schon, he recently wrote on Facebook that 'I hope we can reach out to each other and connect once again. We had amazing chemistry together. I love him with all the love and admiration you could ever have.'"

This is a very interesting development. Arnel Pineda's contract should have expired by now (or will soon). If Perry got back into the mix, and especially if Steve Smith joins the reunion and displaces Deen Castronovo, I wonder if the dominant paradigm for the Journey history of the past eighteen years will become the story of breakups and reunions, rather than that of continuity, as it is now.

This is one of the reasons I love history so much! The "facts" don't change but the interpretations are constantly in flux.

Thanks for sharing this story with me.

Hey buddy...[edit]

Hey Vchimp, I don't suppose I could ask you to help improve the wiki, can I? I'm currently working on cleaning out all of the deprecated and obsolete HTML characters from system messages, help page, templates, modules, etc, and I'm noticing that you have one in your signature. So, what I'm wondering is if you are interested bringing your signature up to HTML5 standards, if so, I suggest replacing:

— <span style="color:Green;">Vchimpanzee</span>&nbsp;· <span style="color: orange"> talk</span>&nbsp;· <span style="color: maroon">contributions</span>&nbsp;·

with:

— <span style="color:#070">Vchimpanzee</span>&nbsp;• <span style="color:#FA0">talk</span>&nbsp;• <span style="color:#700">contributions</span>&nbsp;

which will result in a 229 character long signature (25 characters shorter) with an appearance of: — Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions •
compared to your existing 254 character long signature of: — Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions ·
— Either way. Happy editing! — Technical 13 (etc) 11:04, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library: New Account Coordinators Needed[edit]

Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.

It takes about an hour to get up and running and then only takes a couple hours per week, flexible depending upon your schedule and routine. If you're interested in helping out, please drop a note in the next week at my talk page or shoot me an email at: jorlowitz@gmail.com. Dear
Vchimpanzee
Thanks for your help, actually I don't want to change my user name, I just want "SPACE"
between my user name as it "appears" on my talk page like this,

I want to continue as a Aftabbanoori, only want change at the heading of "Talk Page"
I had tried my self to change, it look fine when I see edit preview, but when I save few black dots appear just above my name, I don't know how to remove these black dots. Best wishes

Signpost[edit]

If it helps with your understanding:

DWMYB (AM)[edit]

The current WRNN/1450 was never WMYB/1450. The history follows the license, so the history of DWMYB/1450 should either be in the article for the current WMYB as it was the sister station of DWMYB/1450 & WMYB was WMYB-FM. The other option is to give DWMYB its own page, which I plan on doing after the weekend as I work weekends. Thank you for your work.Stereorock (talk) 02:04, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
