Hi,

Thanks for the additional Georgia O'Keeffe articles. I noticed on your user page that you don't mind feedback about the articles, so I thought I'd add a few comments:

  • The name of the artist should be linked to her article - I also added links in the articles to the museums, cities, and other articles that may be useful.
  • I removed lines of unused, and likely to remain unused, parameters, like you will see in this edit.
  • A nit-picky item, I capitalized the first work of the subject.
  • I also formatted the url for readability, but that's absolutely a personal preference. If the link is long, though, formatting it is helpful, otherwise it makes the infobox too wide like this version. Because it is an upright, I also set the upright parameter to "y".
  • It would be great if you would add the articles that you are starting to {{Georgia O'Keeffe}}. All you need to do is click on the "E" in the upper left hand corner of the template on one of the article pages... or edit Template:Georgia O'Keeffe.

Thanks so much!

(As an FYI, my next article is going to be Flower paintings of Georgia O'Keeffe, another group article. As far as paintings in the public domain, she did a lot of interesting works on what is sometimes called the Canyon series, some of which are mentioned here, if you are interested. I did an article on the group of Palo Duro Canyon paintings of O'Keeffe, though. The lecture seemed to compare fraudulent works, which have "now deemed inauthentic" in the caption, but there appear to be some interesting ones there, if you're interested.)—CaroleHenson(talk) 19:00, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks CaroleHenson, that is very helpful. Your suggestions are much appreciated. Mduvekot (talk) 23:48, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter No.2

Hello Vexations,
A HUGE backlog

We now have 819 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.

Hitting 17,000 soon

The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.

Second set of eyes

Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.

Abuse

This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and

  1. this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
  2. this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
  3. This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

Coordinator election

Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

Hello,

I agree that the page I created for Camp Walt Whitman was a little bias. As you may know, I have edited many articles in the past, but this is my first time creating an article. Thank you for your contribution.

I don t know how to use wikipedia well

Hi, I saw that you marked my page for deletion. I used to have it as "User page" but today (08/02/2017), I moved to "Article page". I can move it back, but first I would like to know how to protect my very own page. I read a lot of Wiki pages but I still not knowing how to do that :( Please HELP ME, I am complete lost with how to edit and have a nice looking (template) personal page, It is just for my self (actually I don't have friends to view my page, I am the only one, but I like) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelvin Bolztmann (talkcontribs) 14:52, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

@Kelvin Bolztmann: I understand that you would like to have a user page, which is fine. When you moved User:Kelvin Bolztmann to Kelvin Bolztmann your userpage became a Wikipedia article, which is not what you intended. What you might have found confusing is namespaces. Pages that start with User: are in in username space. Those pages are not considered part of the encyclopedia. Pages without such a prefix are in so-called mainspace, and are all encyclopedia articles. I noticed you managed to move your userpage back to its proper location, so I think no further action is necessary. All the best. Mduvekot (talk) 23:45, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

My page Operating Model Canvas

Mduvekot

I am contesting your speedy deletion tag. I am a lecturer at Ashridge Executive Education and this is one of the tools that I teach on my course Designing Operating Models <ref>www.ashridge.org.uk/dom<ref> The article contains no reference to any material that I have written or to my course, so I do not see how it is self promotion. My email address is andrew.campbell@ashridge.hult.edu. Please contact me directly if you want to discuss this. Andrewonstrategy (talk) 03:46, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Comments on the G. Knight page

Hello,

I am new to wikipedia and creating the page for G. Knight was my first page so I apologize in advance for any blatantly novice questions.

Anyhow,

You contested the page saying how there were no reliable sources that G. Knight exists and I wish to contest that statement.

1. I cited fine art America as auctioning G. Knight work. 2. I cited The Miami Street art auction for selling G. Knight art 3. Here is a link to G. Knights website http://gknight.ca/ 4. Here is a link to Montreal's main graffiti watching page showing G. Knights work.

Unfortunately, G. Knight has never done an interview with the media or anybody for that matter as he is a very reclusive figure, but I hope you can see with the information given that I have done the best in my ability to give reliable sources to prove his existence.

I am in direct contact with one of the few people who has met and worked with G. Knight (Oz Yilmaz, the director of 'A dance for G. Knight', which I also cited') and this is all the information I could muster even with his efforts.

I hope you understand that I have put a lot of effort into finding the best and most credible sources and I plan to continue to update the page as any new information comes along. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cfbegin (talkcontribs) 01:38, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

@Cfbegin: Allow me to clarify: I wrote AAs far as I can tell, no independent, reliable source has written about G. Knight. I hope you have read the pages that I linked to, WP:IS and WP:RS. The sources you provided are:
  • gknight.ca – not an independent source
  • wall2wallmtl.com – not a reliable source, it's a blog, not a publication that is under editorial control, with a reputation for fact-checking
  • artsalesindex.artinfo.com – independent, probably reliable, but says little more than that two works were offered at auction
  • fineartamerica.com – an e-commerce site, neither independent nor reliable
  • IMDB – not always a reliable source See Wikipedia:Citing IMDb
If this is all the information you could find, please reconsider this article; there simply may not be enough published information to base an article on. It may simply be WP:TOOSOON. I should not that it did not escape my attention that a previous article about the same subject you created has been speedily deleted under criterion A7. If frankly thought that was a bit excessive for the article in its current form (they may have been different, I can't tell), so I tagged it as having issues with notability. Please see WP:ARTIST and let me know if you think G. Knight meets any of the criteria mentioned there, and which sources you can provide that let readers of Wikipedia verify that what you say in the article can be backed up by reliable sources. Mduvekot (talk) 02:50, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

@mduvekot

I understand. I will act immediatley to try and find a independant and reliable source for information on G. Knight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cfbegin (talkcontribs) 03:32, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

G. Knight independent, credible reference

Hello Mduvekot,

For the G. Knight page, I have cited a link from an interview G. Knight had with the Istanbul Art news, which is an independent paper. I hope this will suffice in giving G. Knight a reliable reference.

@Cfbegin: I speak four languages, but my Turkish is not so great, I'm afraid. Jokes aside; an interview is a primary source. Mduvekot (talk) 22:27, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

ATS page

Hi. I got a notice that you'd marked a page I created (Advanced Technology Services) for speedy deletion on the grounds that it's too promotional. Can you help me understand that decision? I tried to keep it factual and used top-tier sources (e.g., Forbes, WSJ, etc.) to back up claims and establish notability. Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Shogan1998 (talk) 19:37, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

@Shogan1998: On 29 November 2016 your draft version Draft:Advanced Technology Services, Inc. was declined as promotional, and you were given advice on improving the article. The next day it was deleted under criterion G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion. This time you just created it directly in main space. I don't have a subscription to the WSJ, so I'll take your word for it. You must know that the Forbes article was written by a "contributor", not Forbes a editor; it's just a blog entry, basically an advertorial. The AOL article consist of quotes from employees and militaryfriendly, well, that';s not even an article. Are you sure you have no conflict of interest with ATS that requires disclosure? For someone with only 144 edits, you showed remarkable skill when you created Advanced Technology Services, Inc. in one single edit. Mduvekot (talk) 20:07, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. To clarify, I did not get advice on how to improve the first submission. Before I saw the notice (which, like yours, contained no specifics), the original article had been deleted altogether by someone else, so there was nothing to edit. Sorry if I violated a protocol by creating it in the main space; it was unintentional. In my opinion, the first article was not promotional either, but I completely rewrote it anyway for resubmission, making it factual and brief. In my opinion, it is similar in tone, sourcing, etc., to many existing Wikipedia articles about companies of similar size in the same or similar industries, so I'm trying to understand what makes one article eligible for deletion while others are published. Thanks! Shogan1998 (talk) 20:31, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
@Shogan1998:The answer to your question what makes one article eligible for deletion while others are published may well be: Nothing. It does not matter that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Each article is considered on its own merits and by consensus as codified in Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In this case, Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_soapbox_or_means_of_promotion is the relevant policy and Wikipedia:Spam#Advertisements_masquerading_as_articles a guideline. Since I answered your question, do you mind answering mine: Are you sure you have no conflict of interest with ATS that requires disclosure? Mduvekot (talk) 20:45, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Michiel, you left a warning on my talk page that I created an attack page Salman Haneef. This was my last edit to page and I believe it was not an attack page. It was properly sourced. Though I agree that this is what can be called a personal attack but thats not added by me. I can see that User:GB fan restored the earlier version of page but I suggest the information that I added should be restored. --Saqib (talk) 20:23, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

@Saqib: You're right. I understand that you did not add the section that was removed by GB fan. Removing the offending section rather than deleting the article was the correct course of action. I should have done that myself. My apologies. Mduvekot (talk) 20:29, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
Would appreciate if you remove the warning message from my talk page. It looks ugly! --Saqib (talk) 20:30, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
 Done
If there is information that is well sourced that I removed, add it back. I reverted to a version that was not negative. Now it is an editorial judgement if the information is neutral and well sourced. - GB fan 20:52, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

Paylesser page speedy deletion

Hi Mduvekot,

Thanks for taking time to review Paylesser page. I am sorry that it looked like a promotional article to you. I had taken care to not include any kind of promotional language to the article and tried to make it an informational page. This company is related to a notable businessman John Robert Porter. There are many other Wikipedia pages related to companies which are in the same domain and information about this company will help users know more about various companies in this field. Let me know what you think.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hck003 (talkcontribs) 05:47, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
