Markus Feyerabend

In the article on Markus Feyerabend there is a sentence which needs some clarification. I left alone until I had the time to disentangle it. It currently says "Annotations: Presently, the Salzmann-Cup plays a similar role as state championships in Germany, which usually take place as central championships in one federal state."

State championships in Germany would appear to be the same as our regional competitions. In the UK each comp. takes place in the region itself. However you seem to say that all the state championships in Germany take place in one federal state. Is this what you wanted to say? Do they all happen at once? If so, what is the difference between these and the national championships?

I guess that the Salzmann Cup (no hyphen would normally be needed in English) is not the main German aerobatic competition, otherwise it would probably be called the German Glider Aerobatic Championships. By analogy you seem to imply that all the regional aerobatic championships are also held in one place. Is this correct? Is the competition between German gliding clubs or between individuals? You have understood what I wanted to express. Maybe the name Landesmeisterschaften has historical reasons. The results of the Landesmeisterschaften would be used as qualification for the Deutsche Meisterschaften, if more people than the maximum number of participants wanted to take part in the Deutsche Meisterschaften. I do not know, if that has ever happend. The Salzmann Cup is a competition between individuals and between teams at the same time. - Maybe it would be better to delete the confusing information. --Vierzehn (talk) 09:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Ingo Renner

I have tidied up the article slightly. However I must query your assertion that Ingo won the Australian Sportsman of the Year Award twice. Australians are passionate about sport and they excel at it. Every year at least one person from Australia does enough in one of the major sports (or even in Australian Rules Football) to attract more votes than the greatest glider pilot. Thank you for correcting this. I just took the information from the cited source but was not able to verify nor disprove it. I believed in it, because Ingo Renner's collegue seemed to be very proud on that. Maybe things got mixed by translation. The barnstar is not just for improving the language in Akaflieg and several articles created by me. It is also for improving contents (correcting mistakes, deleting paragraphs which do not match the topic like the space shuttle in gliding), and for not deleting information just because it is not complete, or might not be presented or explained perfectly, and for explaining changes instead of just stating documented or not documented rules. I believe, that you do not only improve this wikipedia by your own edits: Indirectly you improve it by encouraging other wikipedians by copy-editing in a very constructive way. --Vierzehn (talk) 15:05, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Category:Competition sailplanes

If more than maybe 5-10 of the items in Category:Glider aircraft are what would be considered completion sailplanes/gliders, then Category:Competition sailplanes or Category:Competition gliders may be prudent. But is it needed? Maybe. I don't know. --Emesee (talk) 00:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

What would you consider to be a competition sailplane/glider? The term is not self-explanatory (competition sailplane = sailplane used in competitions), or your idea how many types of competion sailplanes exist seems to be completely wrong. Except for the space ships and some of the military gliders used in the 2nd World War, there are probably less than 5 gliders which have never been suitable for some kind of competition. Do we need a category containing almost(?) all sports gliders additional to the list of gliders? (See also Rlandmann's comment!) What was your intention when creating this category and putting only a single glider into it? Are you familiar with gliding? I think, improving the list of gliders would be much more useful. However, it is much easier to create a new category that might be useful or not, and might be filled with articles by other wikipedians or not. That you do not know, if the category is needed by anyone is not a very convincing argument for keeping it.--Vierzehn (talk) 13:00, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Wolf Lemke

Do you have any information on Wolf Lemke? I cannot find anything in English that would improve this article. At present there are no sources and no date of birth. Is there anything in the German- speaking world? JMcC (talk) 08:10, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

There seem to be only a few information in the internet and I do not have access to any other sources of information on him. I have not even found references for most information in the article. Wolf Lemke was involved in designing the Akaflieg Köln LS11. So maybe you can get further information or at least a hint where to search for it from the Akaflieg Köln, or from the owner of DG-Flugzeugbau.--Vierzehn (talk) 16:09, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
