PlayStation 4

I noticed that on December 9, you removed all instances of the article "the" that preceded PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS4. We had a similar issue at the Wii U article, discussed here, where an editor felt that the article wasn't needed. As you can see, the sources cited for Wii U overwhelmingly use the definite article "the". The same is true about sources for all of the PlayStation consoles, so we should allow its use there as well. If you disagree, please start a discussion on the article's talk page to get other opinions. Thanks. --GoneIn60 (talk) 18:17, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Well, I'm not sure what kind of consensus the discussion at Wii U's talk page really gave us, but if there are some instances in the PS4 article where you think "the" can be omitted, I'd be willing to compromise on a case-by-case basis. Another option would be to start an RfC on one of the articles' talk page if you still think all instances need to be removed. Kind of silly, I realize, but official nonetheless. --GoneIn60 (talk) 04:05, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

I feel you are somewhat consciously loading the Olympic related articles with Red herrings, and distracting the narratives away from the most pressing issues, again, as noted by reliable sources. You are placing undue emphasis on trivial subjects that while noteworthy, should not drown out the homophobic violence, and wide criticism from human rights activists. The most recent addition has been to wedge in the second law about arresting aliens, which has been been widely disregarded altogether. Yet you've given it equal prominence. This is just the latest in a string of edits where the choices have upheld to propaganda of Putin rather than report what reliable sources state. i hope you will reconsider your approach. Mobile Nations

I would like to note that I never included a plug for Mobile Nations in my edits. I only mentioned that Android Central was a part of Mobile Nations to help give it credibility and because Android Central does not have its own page yet. I have been trying to get others to create a page for all of the Mobile Nations brands as they are extremely popular blogs for their particular mobile experience, particularly Crackberry and Android Central. I have not created the pages myself because I am too new at editing to be comfortable with it. Can we discuss creating these pages? Cody.berdinis (talk) 04:39, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

Moto X Reception Section

Why are the very positive reviews from sites like Android Central and The Verge not allowed on the Moto X page? Here's the history: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Moto_X&diff=prev&oldid=595341950 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cody.berdinis (talkcontribs) 22:52, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, where is the best place to respond to your comment on my talk page. Here, or there? Cody.berdinis (talk) 23:07, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

At what point is a "blog" considered a valid source. I consider Android Central one of the foremost authorities on Android devices as it has emerged as one of--if not the--most popular Android news/reviews sites on the web, with easily more than 900,000 unique visitors (that number comes only from the number of people who follow the site on Google Currents, not the number of people that use the site). Check here: http://www.androidcentral.com/about Cody.berdinis (talk) 04:29, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

It has to be assumed that some people will skim the article and read only the reception section because that is what they care about. The quote from the Verge about the uselessness of the touchless control needs to be followed up with something like "The problem he is referring to has since been fixed/changed by allowing...." It would be something like a disclaimer. Thoughts? ---Cody.berdinis (talk) 22:42, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello

You have created a strange article. All sources that I see (e.g. [1]) say Office Web Apps are rebranded as Office Online. (In fact, I was poised to move the article to the new name.) And now you are saying "Office Web Apps" are part of "Office Online"?

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 02:58, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Office Blog says "Today we are making two changes. First, we’re renaming Office Web Apps to Office Online". That means there is no "Office Web Apps" at all, whatsoever. They even supply a rationale: "We heard from customers that the inclusion of Apps in our name was confusing."
As for "why would they introduce Office Web Apps Server for Office 2013 if they knew they would be re-branded" part: Why would you assume they knew? Maybe they didn't. Maybe they re-brand that one too. But as part of my conditioning when I came to Wikipedia, I learned not to care: We are only allowed to write verifiable facts without involving our own assumptions about them.
So far, from what I see in sources, there are Office Online and Office Web Apps Server. Can you introduce a source to the contrary? Or do you have any further objections about merging Office Online into Office Web Apps?
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 05:19, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Winter Paralympics

I don't think your edit to the controversy section of the Winter Paralympics was helpful. You made that talk page without my knowledge nor did you invite me to the discussion. Besides there shouldn't be a need for discussion when the solution is plain and simple. You're more eager on having the article direct to an unrelated fan media than the actual related source. -24.54.245.33 (talk) 20:10, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
If it's that major, then a disambiguation page would suffice. When you google "Helix Fossil", about 50% of the results are about TPP. Buh6173 (talk) 16:14, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
50%? That's a bold statement. And yeah we're totally gonna make a disambiguation page for a passing fad that's going to be forgotten in another month just like Arrow to the Knee. What they said. ViperSnake151  Talk  02:55, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Not exactly what I said

Hi, Viper

Look, what I said was:

Paul Thurrott's Supersite is especially an unreliable as a primary source, although it is a worthy secondary source

So:

  1. "especially an unreliable as a primary source": It means we cannot rely on what he says unless he introduces another valid source. Things that he has said so far that have been wrong: Office 2013 won't have a service pack (it has now); Windows 8.1 will be a service pack for 8 (God, we are paying a great price for neutrality of point of view); the menu that comes up as a result of pressing Windows+X is called "Power-User Menu". (It is called "Quick Links menu".)
  2. "although it is a worthy secondary source": So, when he says "Microsoft said such and such in so and so conference", he can be quoted. Well, ... unless we discover in the future that he is having a tendency of disseminating factual inaccuracy.

The reason I used This Source is because of This Image.

Due weight of SkyDrive → OneDrive

Hi.

I saw your revert in Windows 8.1 and I think you have underestimated one aspect of due weight: WP:DATED. The issue it twofold:

  1. A lot of sources about Update 1 anticipated that the change from SkyDrive to OneDrive will come in Update 1. Now, surely Update 1 has due weight. What are you going to do if someone added the change from SkyDrive to OneDrive to the list of Update 1 changes? The best way to counter this is to have a statement at hand on the article that says it occurred earlier.
  2. So far, both you ([2]) and I ([3]) have reverted people who have tried to change "SkyDrive" to "OneDrive" in Windows articles. The rationale: Failure of verifiability. If the person looked into the source, he or she could not find the word "OneDrive". (Besides, not stock installation of Windows OS released before 3 April 2014 would bear the name "OneDrive"; so WP:ABOUTSELF goes out of the window too.) But starting with that update on March, we certainly will not find the word "SkyDrive" in sources. So, this matter must somehow reflect in the article.

Overall, although the update itself might not have due weight, I expect its impact does.

Codename Lisa (talk) 11:23, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Windows 8 is actually pretty good.

Greetings, — Preceding unsigned comment added by InAndOutLand (talkcontribs) 01:29, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Windows 8, in my opinion, is much better than Windows 7. It's faster, introduces new technologies, and is all-around much better than Windows 7. And if you love the Start menu(I hate it now), use Classic Shell. And don't say "You shouldn't have to install a third-party app to make the OS better!" because you already do that with apps like VLC and Firefox to replace apps like Windows Media Player and IE.

Thanks, and, don't forget to be awesome! InAndOutLand (talk) 01:21, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
