Welcome to my talk page. Please say whatever you need to here.

Thank you for contributing the impressive the pile of supports gathered on my RfA, which passed with a final tally of 0x0104/0x01/0x00. I'm happy that so many people have put faith in my abilities as an admin and promise to use the tools wisely and do my best not to let you down. If I ever may be of assistance, just leave a note on my talk page.
Misza13, the rouge-on-demand admin wishes you happy editing!

Couldn't resist[edit]

I couldn't resist tinkering with the formats on a few of your pages, hope that's ok :) --Alf melmac 23:36, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Would You Mind Assisting Me?[edit]

Sure, I'd be happy to design a Mediation Barnstar. Do you have any ideas as to what it should look like? Cheers, Sango123 20:56, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation Barnstar
Here's a barnstar draft. What do you think? Sango123 22:14, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I'm glad you like the design. Just one thing on the WP:BAP page: you might want to change "him" to "her". :) Best, Sango123 01:32, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome[edit]

  • I appreciate the welcome. The name at the top of the little welcome box you put on my talk page says "Vickser", and.. well.. I'm not that person. Don't know if you use some kind of automated tool to do the welcomes or whatever, but I just thought I'd let you know. :D Soulresin 19:38, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Hi Viva,
Thanks for participating in my RFA! Ultimately, no consensus was reached, but I still appreciate the fact that you showed up to add in your two cents. I am flattered by your compliment that I am an overall good user. You can feel free to talk to me about it or add some advice on my improvement page.

Sincerely, The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me)

RE: Bureaucratship[edit]

Wow - I'm flattered that you'd think of me like that, but sadly I must decline. I will run again in the future but I believe that now isn't the right time - I'm a bit too excited about WiktionaryZ, and spending too little time on Wikipedia; it's too soon since my last nomination. Thanks anyway and kind regards, —Celestianpower háblame 08:57, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmmm....[edit]

I find it interesting how you can "already step into" something that I'd already been working on for two days in regards to Metro Detroit. In fact, I'd accepted it on the 27th (Thursday), set the category to the open tag on Thursday, commented to the requestor's page on Thursday, and had been waiting for the requestor's response since Thursday.

Since you've already started to discuss it at the case page, I'll gladly hand it off to you. However, in the future, please realize that there are Cabalists like me who don't use the case page immediately and try other methods of resolution, especially in this case, where the proposed outcome of the requestor in my view, conflicts with WP:V - the change was done in line with changes to the Census Bureau's definition of that CMSA and the requestor wants it to reflect local socioeconomic factors and local terminology.

Have a nice day, good luck with the mediation. CQJ 00:18, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I generally don't make them on the case page if I can feel the situation is straightforward and could be resolved on one side of the dispute - but you've got a valid point. Good luck :-) CQJ 00:47, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User Page Judge[edit]

Your the third person to tell me. I've submitted my scores.--Andeh 14:14, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My almost-RfA[edit]

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier - I declined the nomination, but didn't have time to personally notify you. When I got back, it slipped my mind. Apologies. Anyway, if you want to read specifically why I declined, go to the nomination page, but do know that I really appreciate the gesture. Cheers! --Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 19:26, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! You supported the Hummingbird Hawk-moth FPC (like everyone else who commented), but HighInBC uploaded an edit that absolutely no-one commented on. I can't promote the image without knowing which version to promote, so now I have to ask everyone which version they prefer. Would you mind specifying which image you are supporting? Thanks. Re RfA[edit]

Hi. Yes, I realize Phaedriel's RfA is a clear case of success, but still, as a Bureaucrat I am obliged to act according to policy and community consensus. The consensus I'm referring to now, however, is not that to promote a candidate, but rather that regarding the early closing of a RfA. Presently, we only close RfAs early if the candidate withdraws or if there is a clear rejection of the candidate. The latter is only done so as to preserve the candidate from unnecessary stress, which could cost us a good contributor, and not because the result is already obvious. When the candidate gets almost only praise from those participating, we really have no basis to close early. You see, except for extraordinary circumstances, everybody gets a 7-day RfA, that's one of the few rules that do govern the Admin appointment process. In fact, the community does appreciate seeing a candidate receive praise for work well done, and we have no reason to cut that short. Furthermore, there are the cases of users who like to wait until the last or before last day of a RfA before pitching in. By closing early without a solid reason would rob those of the right to participate without good cause, something with which the community would certainly not go along.
But as you said, it is highly unlikely that this RfA would take a turn in the opposite direction, and it is now just 2 days out of running its course normally. Waiting this out should be no big deal. Regards, Redux 16:35, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

UPA[edit]

Thank you, but take note that User:Sango123 came up with the initial design. If my page wins, give the award to her, or at least most of it. I've just added text, links, and more headers since her redesign (see the changes since her redesign).

Oh, and happy birthday, from The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 01:12, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there! First of all, a very happy birthday!! Secondly, as you requested, I'm here to explain the rules of the userpage award judging to you. You should, first of all, submit your name chronologically, that is, your name should be after the judges who submitted their names before you. I've corrected that. Here are the steps of judging:

  • Since you're judge number 4, you'll have to judge the nominations number 10, 11 and 12. Of these three pages, you'll have to select one, based on the Attractiveness, Usefulness, Interestingness and General niceness of the page, and submit it at the finalists section.
  • Once all five finalists have been chosen, you'll have to judge all 5 of them and email the results to the overseer (in this case, me). You should follow the layout on this page while emailing. Please do not make your scores public.

I hope you get the general idea. Tell me if you need some for info. Cheers! --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| ŗ 3 $ |-| ţ |-|) 04:06, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you...[edit]

For making me blush! Your kind words were very nice to come back to. :-) I don't wish to run for bureaucrat right now, but thank you for the endorsement.

Also, glad you like the Keiko Abe article... she was a favorite composer of one of my music professors, so I heard a lot of her works in recital. (Percussion's something I never got around to learning myself, alas, but I am fond of the marimba.) Cheers, Mindspillage (spill yours?) 16:25, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks[edit]

Hi Viva La Vie Boheme!! You've signed up to be a judge for the Esperanza User Page Award! You'll have three user pages to examine. The user pages you get coincide with your signup number. So if you signed up to be a judge in spot 1 than you will get nominations 1-3. Pick your favorite one, and list it in the finalist section. After all 5 judges have chosen a finalist it's time to award them 1-10 points in the four categories:

  • Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

Please see the Scores section on this page for additional information on your job as a judge.

Keep in mind that your scores are confidential! Email Shreshth91 with your scores and final picks. As soon as all the scores have been tallied, a winner will be announced! Thanks.

May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| ŗ 3 $ |-| ţ |-|) 08:18, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Viva La Vie Boheme!. This is a quick message to remind you that all 5 finalists for the Esperanza User Page Award have been chosen. You now need to judge those 5 pages, awarding each one 1-10 points for attractiveness, usefulness, interesting-ness and general niceness. Refer to the Scores section at the project page if you are unsure of how to score.

Once you have scored the 5 pages, email Shreshth91 using the specified format. As soon as all the scores have been tallied, a winner will be announced. Thanks. May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| ŗ 3 $ |-| ţ |-|) 18:13, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp[edit]

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

September Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.

November Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Concordia Newsletter[edit]

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now![edit]

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making[edit]

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.
