K-9[edit]

Thanks for contacting me. I tried to communicate directly with the editor who made these edits (presumably Penny Wall?) by posting to User talk:124.171.177.152, the page associated with the IP she used in making those edits.

The problem is that Wikipedia bases its articles on what can be verified from reliable sources. The information in the article may be incorrect, but unless the correct information is available in some reliable source such as a press release, news article or interview, we have to go with what's been released so far. I believe that what the article says now about the production of the series is based on the news reports cited in the article. It's possible — even likely — that the information may be outdated, or may have been incorrectly or incompletely reported in the press. But since the criterion for inclusion of information in Wikipedia is "verifiability, not truth", we can only go by what's been reported.

If you represent Stewart & Wall Entertainment, the easiest way to ensure that the correct information is put on the Wikipedia page would be to publish it on your website (or some other website affiliated with the production of K-9) and drop me a note when the site has been updated.

The episode list in the article is based on a list found on the Metal Mutt website, which appears to be associated with the production. If that page is updated, the Wikipedia article can be as well. Alternatively, again, the correct episode listing could be published on any website affiliated with the production, or released to the press.

I know that it seems strange that you won't be able to update the Wikipedia article with information that you know to be correct and have it remain in the article, but the problem is that we don't have any way to verify the identity of editors. I use my real name, but most people don't, and we can't tell someone with genuine inside information from a random fan having fun. That's why we have to stick to what's been publicly released, even if that's not completely accurate.

Finally, if you are affiliated with the production of K-9, let me say that I enjoyed the first episode and look forward to seeing more. Also, outside of Wikipedia, I'm an editor for the Doctor Who News Page, and we'd be very happy for any news about the K-9 series, especially broadcast dates and times for any and all channels. If you want to contact the News Page, you can do so by emailing us at gallifreynewsbase@gmail.com. Although the Doctor Who News Page is a fan site, it's still (barely) considered a reliable source for Wikipedia's purposes, so anything that's published there can subsequently make its way here. So if all else fails, Ms. Wall can email the correct information to the DWNP, which can publish it and then be cited as a source in Wikipedia. It's pretty roundabout, but it should still work. :) —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 06:11, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've corrected the production information, and removed the episode listing until we can find a verifiable source. I've sent you an email with further details. Thanks. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 19:44, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
