Headings[edit]

Hi. Just so you know, the Wikipedia manual of style says you do not put links into section headings. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 22:14, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, I've seen this style on numerous American articles therefore I had no idea. So I guess I got misguided. Sorry :) (Watercolor121 (talk) 22:16, 9 September 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Categories[edit]

Hey..just remember, when you create articles, don't forget to add them into categories i.e. Origins of Lahore into Category:History of Lahore etc. This makes them indexed with relevant topics, and they can also be easily found. Mar4d (talk) 01:35, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks for the tip! I'm in the process of editing it. It looks like a mess right now. (Watercolor121 (talk) 06:49, 10 September 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Great work on Lahore[edit]

Just dropped by to say that your contributions to the Lahore-related articles is greatly appreciated! User:Mar4d beat me to awarding you a barnstar! utcursch | talk 16:41, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, THANKS A LOT :D Although I did not get the idea who gave me the barnstar - Utcursch or Mar4d. :P

Lovely template art. Thanks! Farjad0322 (talk|contribs) 09:50, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I placed one at User:Farjad0322/Userboxes... and Eid Mubarak (if you are a muslim) Farjad0322 (talk|contribs) 09:56, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Watercolor121! The template Sport in Asia was nominated for deletion (TfD) on September 16, 2010. Please participate in the dicussion to reach a consensus. Thank you. Farjad0322 (talk|contribs) 12:22, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Sorry for late response. I am still in a bad flu and hence not very much active here. You asked me about the Lahore template expansion. I know that Karachi template is huge but if you look closely it is full of crap and hardly anything interesting. In fact, template about cities are discouraged on wikipedia. Even if there are such templates, we are advised to keep them short as possible. There is no template about topics on Tokyo in Japan, or Seoul in South Korea. There are templates about Berlin in Germany and London of England, but they are concise and short. Short templates are done because it makes the city more interesting to new readers. For example, someone from USA, who has never learned much about Lahore, visits Lahore article and find few interesting articles from the Lahore template. If s/he is overloaded with a huge navigational box, s/he would not be interested anymore because of confusion. It is just like this, if you find a huge book about chemistry in a book shop, you would feel an immediate dislike for it. Right? You would tend to go for a more concise book on the shelf instead.

Templates of India (such as template:Delhi) and Pakistan (such as the Karachi one) seldom follow these concise patterns because inhabitants of these countries (we), feel almost too proud of ourselves that we fail to follow common standards and criteria in our contributions. So lets keep the Lahore template short in order to make it more useful for new learners of Lahore. I hope this helped. Thank you. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 15:02, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Undiscussed and copypaste move of M. M. Alam Road[edit]

Recently, you did an undiscussed and copy pasted move of the article to a new title. This has two problems: first, by copy pasting the content to new title, you effectively removed all edit history. Second, you did not show a rationale for the move, nor any references that the new title (i.e., one sans the periods) is the correct one. I have reverted your changes. If you want to move, please at least start a discussion on the article talk page. --Ragib (talk) 11:48, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

October 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Shopping in Lahore. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. . You have now removed the {{Proposed deletion}} template four times, as you are fully entitled to do. Please remember what the template says: "You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to deletion for any reason. However please explain why you object to the deletion, either in your edit summary or on the talk page." Could you possibly explain why you have removed the {{Proposed deletion}} templates? Thank you, and happy editing! --Shirt58 (talk) 12:13, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

Please don't forget to add categories to your new articles, or else no one will ever be able to find/read them (unless they know the title obviously)....Mar4d (talk) 13:44, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Participate in the discussion at Talk:Flora and fauna of Lahore. Apparently, the article has problems. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 11:00, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The new set of pictures of Lahore[edit]

(QadeemMusalman (talk) 22:00, 5 February 2011 (UTC)) The new pictures [Montage of Lahore with various famous places] have some drawbacks. Although, the pictures are bigger which look quite good, but the picture of Badshahi Mosque from the top is little cropped, the Kim's Gun picture is too much minimize and is unnecessary as the former picture of Kim's Gun was much better, the picture of GPO was unnecessary as well, other good options which could substitute for the GPO picture would be pictures of Aiwan e Iqbal, Lahore High court building and Lahore museum building. I hope you will consider my suggestion.[reply]

Lahore montage[edit]

Hi! It looks like you already posted the image.

If nobody reverts it, then it stays. If someone does revert it, then I suggest getting into a dialog with him or her and figuring things out WhisperToMe (talk) 13:37, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • That Facebook page is a Wikipedia mirror. I cannot directly edit the content on that page. But it looks like the actual Lahore Wikipedia page has the maps anyway. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:25, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it does have the maps. Is editing a mirror possible by anyone else? (Watercolor121 (talk) 17:33, 1 March 2011 (UTC))[reply]
I think only the site administrator can do that. The mirror may update as the mirror absorbs the new article. WhisperToMe (talk) 23:14, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:329px-Lahore's Montage.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:13, 13 November 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Islamic Rage Boy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sample (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Lovelifelahore.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Lovelifelahore.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
