- It's unusual for a new editor, or in fact anyone, to do this sort of thing in another editor's userspace, in particular without being asked to do so (and for a new editor, told how to do it). dougweller (talk) 13:28, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Adding of 'Persia' to Persian Gulf article[edit]
I've noticed that you have repeatedly added the word over the course of several days, and I would like to politely ask you to stop. Persia is not the name of any country in that area, and hasn't been since 1935. This is an encyclopedia, and you can certainly appreciate how we need to avoid POV editing, or even the appearance thereof. I did not bring this topic up on the article discussion page, as I am hoping that further discussion or action isn't going to be necessary. - Persia is another name of a country officially known as Islamic Republic of Iran. The "Persian Gulf" has been taken from Persian people of Iran who were and are residing on the northern shores and islands of this gulf. We can use Persia and Iran interchangeably, as both of them are the governmental accepted names of a country with the official name of the Islamic Republic of Iran. There is no restriction just as I could use the word "limitation" instead of "restriction" in this sentence. "Persia" versus "Arabian Peninsula", reminds the "Persian gulf" versus "A*r*a*b*i*a*n gulf" for the reader, and helps him/her to understand the issue in a better way, as there are still some people who consider Iranians as Arabs!! - Wrong. Iran is the name for the country that used to be Persia; you know, the same governing body that provides you the basis for citing the name as the Persian Gulf, and and not the Arabian Gulf. You are free to interchange Persia and Iran yourself, but to the world at large, they are not interchangeable. Just as Arabian Gulf isn't used much outside SA, Persia is not used to denote modern Iran - or at least, there is no citable evidence to indicating that, any more than there is evidence that the UN calls it that. You don't get it both ways: either you follow the UN or you don't; there isn't a middle groiund in this. If you think that such evidence exists, please bring it to the article discussion page. - There are many reasons for this. The government of Iran has many times officially called the country as Persia, specially for it's cultural context. Another example is the back side of the 5000 Toman (Toman=General name of the Iranian currency) notes of the Iranian government, which has a Hadith by prophet Muhammad (puh), which states that: "If Faith were at (the place of) Ath-Thuraiya (Pleiades, the highest star), even then some men from Persia ("Sarzamine Pars") would attain it." Can you please explain on the article talk page, why you think India being the "most populous democracy " is controversial/contentious ? The information is already sourced in the main body of the article as required by WP:LEADCITE. If you can establish consensus that this information is controversial, it wouldn't be a problem to repeat the citations in the lede too. Abecedare (talk) 18:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
