c/e Was: "less than 4 fathoms (7 m) deep" now is: "less than 7 fathoms (7 m) deep" A fathom is slightly less than a meter, even in 1798, so the old numbers were wrong. The battle took place beyond the 4 fathom shoal line, so 7 fathoms is a good estimate of the depth for the shallower area of battle. See: [1]: "Brueys fleet, fearing the shoals and uncharted dangers that might lie inside the 4-fathom line, had left ample room between their anchorages and the shallows." Bernard S. Garrett Sr. moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Bernard S. Garrett Sr., does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
