May 2007[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. At least one of your recent edits, the one you made to Southwood Secondary School, was neither helpful nor constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. MelicansMatkin 19:51, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add unhelpful and unconstructive content to Wikipedia, as you did to Southwood Secondary School. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. MelicansMatkin 20:09, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Southwood Secondary School, you will be blocked from editing. MelicansMatkin 20:11, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Amazon.ca is not a reliable reference. Anyone can self-publish a book about anything. I suggest you see WP:RS for more information on this. MelicansMatkin 23:31, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for that information. I won't use that website for references in future. Wendel67 00:53, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apology[edit]

Please accept this apology. Sockpuppetry is discouraged on Wikipedia, and when I saw you make an identical edit to what a vandal had a few months ago that led to a great deal of conflict (the result of which you have already been made aware about), it made me very suspicious. I assumed that I was dealing with a sockpuppet, which I am now sure is not the case. Again, please accept my apology. MelicansMatkin 22:29, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Autoblock of 72.143.235.191 lifted or expired.

Request handled by: Sean William 23:46, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

if i could help you i would but i cant Duggie 22:23, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you possibly bring my situation to the attention of an administrator in charge of lifting blocks? I am currently unable to leave messages on any page other than my own.Wendel67 22:32, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Most administrators will check the contested blocks category fairly often. You should attract their attention soon with your unblock request. Cheers, ➪HiDrNick! 22:35, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I'll have to just continue waiting. But it's been two hours since I requested the lift on my auto-block. No-one has come to check it.Wendel67 22:41, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why have no administrators come to look at my auto-block situation? I mean come on!Wendel67 23:16, 23 May 2007 (UTC)}}[reply]

I've added a note for you on the administrators' noticeboard. I hope this helps. ➪HiDrNick! 23:32, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Give it time - I think you may have used the wrong template the first time around, which could explain the first two hours of no response. Sysops have a lot to check up on - how many accounts and IP addresses do you think get blocked each day? Odds are that there are other accounts attached to the auto-block too, and if your account is on the same IP as Landev, then they have to investigate possible sockpuppetry as well. I know that this must be frustrating for you, but let the administrators do their jobs - they'll get around to the unblock soon enough. And for reference, removing and reposting the unblock template will likely only add time to how long it takes for you to be unblocked. Also, if you're using the helpme template, between "me" and the }}, put a "|" (above the enter key if you're not familiar with it) and then your reason. MelicansMatkin 23:38, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sysops are very busy; there's loads of work to be done and not enough people to do it. Sorry we took so long. Sean William 23:46, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping me out Dr. Nick. But I still am unable to edit. When I try to edit a page, this message comes up:

You are unable to edit Wikipedia because someone using the same IP address or shared proxy server was blocked. This is known as an "autoblock". The other user was blocked by Can't sleep, clown will eat me for the following reason (see our blocking policy):

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Landev". The reason given for Landev's block is: "troll account". This block has been set to expire: 08:04, 24 May 2007.

Note that you are not blocked directly. If you do not understand the reason for this block, you are probably on a shared IP address.

Earlier, I pasted the auto-block template on my page and it says on that Sean William fixed it, but I still can't edit. Any thoughts on what's wrong?

If this is the message I'm thinking of, there should be an option on the template somewhere that allows you to request the ability to edit, even though you are on the same IP. I know that when I try to edit from my school without being logged in I can't edit because of the block, but logged in it is fine but I clicked that link and requested the ability to edit. Your contributions to Wikipedia so far should mean that this will be lifted. I may be wrong though if it is a different template. MelicansMatkin 00:01, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've contacted the admin who unblocked you to see if he can help you. MelicansMatkin 00:04, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help. The only available template on the page that comes up is this:

((unblock-auto|1=72.143.235.191|2=Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Landev". The reason given for Landev's block is: "troll account".|3=Can't sleep, clown will eat me|4=510066))

Other than that, the only other option listed is e-mailing Wikipedia - but they say that it takes ages.

(edit conflict x2) MelicansMatkin, that is an "anon only" block. That option is only available for IP blocks. This is an autoblock that was placed due to an account being blocked. By default, all autoblocks are hard blocks, meaning nobody can edit from it. I lifted the autoblock, so I think it'll be fine after the database catches up. It has been pretty slow lately. I'll check back soon to see if there are still problems. Sean William 00:07, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Wendel, thank you for notifying us of this auto-block. Please contact me via email regarding this issue, there are some concerns I would like to discuss with you offline. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 00:09, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've contacted you via email. Awaiting a reply.
Will the emails arrive somewhere on my talk page or preferences, or will I have to log on to my hotmail account in a new window to receive them?

Re: Thanks[edit]

It was no problem. I'm always happy to help out! MelicansMatkin 17:21, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
