How is this bot different from the other archival bots?[edit]

And how is it implemented? -And now the talk link isn't red ;-) — User:Doug

It's probably not very different, except that it was the first to do User talk pages back in 2006. I think there are other bots that do those now, though. — Werdna talk 01:58, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I remember using Werdnabot2 (note the "2"!) to archive my talk page after noticing a bunch of people using it. But then something went buggy with it and Miszabot took over Werdnabot2's duties. Glad to see the original is back...accept no imitations :-) --C S (talk) 09:28, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Any way that the Wednabot on my talk page can operate without registering on my watchlist? Tony (talk) 04:04, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It shouldn't show up on your watchlist, as it's a bot. — Werdna • talk 09:57, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

True; sorry, I get the orange banner that I have a message; it's annoying to find that it's just the bot, like this, earlier today. Tony (talk) 10:27, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's bizarre. It should not show a 'new messages' prompt, if it's making minor edits. Please do check that there wasn't an edit before that which you missed. — Werdna • talk 13:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wondering why the bot made this archive. There's a typo in "Wikipedia", so it's not in the proper namespace. But I'm wondering if it's a bot bug, or bad instructions somehow. - TexasAndroid (talk) 13:55, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jennavecia(sp?) set it up, and made a typo :-)Werdna • talk 12:23, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Old Archiver/Howto page links[edit]

There are many hundreds of pages that link to] the User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Howto page from the box that describes how the page is archived. So now all those pages say that they're archived by a bot that is redlinked. Could you recreate that page (either as a note about how to use it, which is what I assume it had been, or as a redirect to some other useful/relevant page)? Trying to Get it to Work[edit]

I used to have this bot for my page over a year ago and i've just readded it. However, I already have one archive linked on the top of my talk page. How do I get that link put into the archives area and is there a way to check to see if the bot is working for my page? SilverserenC 21:31, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on User talk:Swpb/Archive/January 2007, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because User talk:Swpb/Archive/January 2007 seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting User talk:Swpb/Archive/January 2007, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Your bot's archive[edit]

this bot archived a section see here in which an Ip had added section tag above the wikiproject templates, and this bot then archived that. So I have reverted it. Thank You. Gman124 talk 23:43, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also reverted the bot's edit from the index see here. --Gman124 talk 23:52, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does this still work?[edit]

My talk page seems rather full, and I'm not sure why! AndrewRT(Talk) 12:16, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bot fail[edit]

Hi,

I'm not sure who set this up, but this probably shouldn't be happening] (it should have gone to an /Archive page). Is this a bug, or just a syntax error in the setup? Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 23:10, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See also /Archive index, which was created in the mainspace and needs to get cleaned up. Gavia immer (talk) 04:31, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And /Archive index has been added to again by the bot. *pout* --Fabrictramp | talk to me 21:10, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Werdna, this issue needs to get fixed, especially the broken mainspace page. I don't want to see such an important bot blocked, given all the breakage that would result, but if I don't see some contact here, I'm going to have to request it. Gavia immer (talk) 18:45, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Werdnabot is no longer maintained, as I have other priorities. Somebody else is welcome to look at the code and fix it, it's available at [1]. Other than that, I have disabled Werdnabot's crontab entry.

Note that if you want to contact me, you should do so on my talk page, rather than the talk page of a bot I haven't touched in years. — Werdna • talk 09:57, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
