Embedded links[edit]

Hello, WhitmanNE! I've just looked at your recent edits to the "Area schools" section of Nebraska City, Nebraska. I'm afraid that your edits contravened a somewhat obscure, but of course important, point of Wikipedia style.

WP policy is against putting external links in article text. You can find the policy at WP:Citing_sources#Avoid_embedded_links. If the website you're linking to supports the information in the text, then the link should come in the context of a footnote. If it doesn't directly support the information in the article, but is directly relevant to the article's subject, it should be in an "External links" section.

I'll fix things at Nebraska City; just letting you know in case you find other links that you'd like to incorporate into articles.

Hope that your editing career, which looks like it began fairly recently, is going well. Your "User contributions" history reveals an interesting collection of interests. Hope that they include more Nebraska-related topics; we've got far too few editors working on them. Ammodramus (talk) 16:50, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for your kind compliment. In the course of checking it out, I stopped at your userpage and discovered the origin of your username, which clarified something that'd perplexed me: Whitman, Nebraska is a long way from Nebraska City, and I wondered why you were writing about the latter.

The Otoe County Courthouse is on my to-be-photographed list. Unfortunately, it faces north, so I'll have to wait until summer to get the front of it in good light.

If you're interested in expanding the article on the courthouse, by the way, you might want to check out the National Register nomination form. The Nebraska State Historical Society has a good National Register website, and if you follow the county links you'll find nom forms for at least half of the sites in the state. Disambiguation link notification for September 22[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Cheri Becerra-Madsen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page IPC World Championships (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
