Floyd-Warshall algorithm question

My correction of the Floyd Algorithm are correct. The entire artcle needs a rewrite to be both understandable and correct. As it remains, it is confusing my students and I spend a lot of time correcting their errors gleaned from this article. This is a simple to understand algorithm when explained clearly. Instead we don't only have mathematical snobbery, but truly inaccurate information. I am SICK of wikipeadia inability to just tell wrong from write. Mathematical truth is not a matter of a VOTE. When k = 1, it is not equal to zero. Fixing this page requires a complete rewrite because the graph and the agorthms don't match and the explanation doesn't inform the reader of facts. Not having fixed these problems in the article has been called not passing a litmus test. The only litmus test here is if the article is informative and educational. I am not able to dust off my graph theory textbook tonight and discuss the mathematical details. But I reverted your edits because you are not going about your proposed corrections the right way. Writing that the article "is incorrect" within the article itself is not the place to do so; rather, the talk page is where you want to start.
Are you familiar with WP:BRD? Be bold in your editing, but once you've been reverted, it's time to discuss and seek consensus at the talk page, instead of trying to push through your changes. As you can see, you've been reverted by multiple editors, many of whom have technical mathematical backgrounds, meaning that it's time to discuss and forge real consensus. I understand the situation, but part of the problem I am having is that she is a new comer in Pixar's up coming (june 19th) movie Inside Out, and no one has started talking about her in detail yet. I would like for them/the public to have a place (Wikipedia) that they can go to start getting accurate information on Kaitlyn.

Therein lies the problem with some subjects (especially up-and-coming people) on Wikipedia; they're just too soon. If there's no substantive content about Dias available yet, perhaps there will be more once the film opens. The good news is that there's no deadline or rush when it comes to drafts.   • Removed buzzwords like, "solutions" throughout the article. You're right - that screams "buzz".
  • I decided to capitalize "Asset-Based Giving" because that's how I saw it used on their website and throughout the web. From what I gather, "Asset-Based Giving" is not limited to $$, but also tangible products. Still, I went ahead and removed it from the article.

As for the sources, most of the article is based on a booklet written on Abdulaziz Al-Bashir, but the booklet is in Arabic. @Radbleu: You are allowed to cite the booklet if it is a reliable source. If it is indeed reliable, you wouldn't need to scan a copy, per WP:RS:
I'm not familiar with many Arabic newspapers, but if these two meet the reliability standard, then they can certainly be included in the references and will help. Another thing you should do is add inline citations whenever you make claims about the subject that are contentious or likely to be challenged. Inline citations are important because they help readers track down the reference to the specific claims made in an article. Those sources you mentioned above will help, but I'd consider trying to find even more references to convincingly demonstrate his notability.
I fear there is also some original research scattered throughout the draft. Simply put, original research can sneak into an article when there are subjective claims, opinions, value judgments and the like about the subject. For example, the Draft:Abdulaziz Al-Bashir article claims that "He constantly encouraged employees to enrol in training courses and higher studies, which was also a helpful element in keeping up with latest developments in the field". This needs an inline citation or else, to be blunt, it might appear to the reader that the author has made it up. The "Favorite pastime" section also contains original research, which should be either supported by references that explicitly back up those claims, or it should be removed entirely. /wia /talk 20:58, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

@Debbie M Wilson: Names aren't a copyright issue, so you're good there! The sentences I have flagged for copyright issues are as follows:

These should be rephrased or removed entirely. If you have written those texts yourself for the company website, it's likely that copyright has fallen to your employer. In that case, you aren't permitted to use it on Wikipedia unless your employer licenses the copyrighted text to Wikipedia. See WP:PERMISSIONS for details on how copyright-holders can license text to Wikipedia. I've never done it myself, but I hear the whole process takes a bit of time. @Craiger19: The article looks pretty good to me, although a few more references in the "Use of Wood and other materials" and "Tools and Techniques" sections would help show that the content of those sections is not original research. Once you feel that you have cleaned up those sections according to Wikipedia's standards, you're welcome to be bold and remove the cleanup tag yourself! To Whom it may concern, I am requesting a re-review as I have written this as neutral as I believe necessary. As a female architect, there is a general lack of female representation in the field prominently male. It is not my intention for the entry to read as an advertisement for Dr Maturana, I believe this may be due to many of her opinions as most of her work expresses these opinions. The book publication can also be deleted if this will help with the entry, this was a major publication for her and it seemed relevant to include but if it is against the wikipedia guidelines then I can remove it with no issue. I am happy to edit out the sections which you feel the entry is not subjective enough or rewrite sections altogether provided you feedback. I would not like to see an architect with such global influences and a history of social justice not be more freely known to all wikipedia users. Since the content on that website is copyrighted, you can't use it on Wikipedia just yet—even if you are the copyright-holder. What you need to do is follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Specifically, WP:DONATETEXT is the section of that article that will probably be the most help to you. @Bbosramek: I am not completely sure. I think that because of WP:COMPLIC, the mere absence of the copyright logo is insufficient to remove your copyright over the text. (In essence, I think your copyright subsists regardless of whether you claim it.) However, I am no expert in American copyright law, and so I suggest you ask at WP:CQ. Someone there should know whether merely removing the copyright symbol is sufficient. @Albanianhistory: It often depends on the situation, but a good rule of thumb is at WP:BIO: "People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." You'll need to find significant coverage in multiple sources. So there's not a bright-line rule for the number of references you'll need. I'd try to find at least another one, maybe another two. Check old newspapers on Google, at your local library, on databases like Jstor and the like (if you have access). You never know what'll turn up! /wia /talk 16:21, 24 May 2015 (UTC)

@Radbleu: If those claims are explicitly cited in the radio program and booklet, then you can keep them in, as long as they are written in a way that complies with WP:NPOV and as long as you put an inline citation after the claims.
As for writing the article in Arabic and French, the requirements differ on the different-language Wikipedias. You can create an account on the French Wikipedia and try posting your article there; I think they have different notability and referencing requirements, but I'm not totally sure, so I'd suggest asking around on the French Wikipedia itself. But two parts of that page that are important are WP:IMPARTIAL and WP:SUBJECTIVE. I would also add WP:OR and WP:SYNTH to the list. @Ai6pg: Actually, the right to self defence is not a uniquely American one, as it exists in the Canadian (and presumably the British) common law. Furthermore, you are not citing any legitimate sources for these bald assertions, and so it comes off as original research. I understand what you're trying to do here on Wikipedia, but if you continue shoving that content into articles without regard for consensus or WP:NPOV, your attempts will consistently be reverted and you may end up being blocked. Right now, your interpretation of the Second Amendment is just that—an original interpretation, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. It might work on a blog or a personal website, but not here. You will need to find and add reliable, independent (third-party) sources that have explicitly argued that the Second Amendment is as you say it is. "Natural law" itself is not a reliable source. Indeed, it is not a source at all. Next, you will need to suggest your changes on the appropriate talk page in an effort to forge consensus. New Article Submission on Regression Therapy

I understand you have rejected a new article on "Regression Therapy" and have suggested that it is included in an existing article on "Past Life Regression". I would like you to reconsider this decision the following reasons;

Regression Therapy is a separate discipline of therapy drawing on many healing modularities; age regression, inner child regression, body therapy, transpersonal experiences, and If stories emerge from a client that appear to be past lives they are dealt with as healing metaphors. Thats was clearly stated in the article. This is completely different from past life regression which is about allowing people having just "past life experiences" which they may think are real.

Past Life Regression is a controversial subject open to different religious and cultural views and the article is subject to may changes and disputes. Not an area I wish to enter.

Regression therapy is practiced by medical doctors and therapists working to a clearly defined international standard. It has thousands of therapists across the world doing this work. As such it deserves respect from Wikipedia to have an article covering this work.

@Paid2Tweet: One of the main problems with the article is the referencing. Of all the references, only one (the Reuters article) talks about Marsh itself in significant detail. None of the others even seem to mention Marsh; instead, they all talk about Marsh & McLennan. In fact, the Bloomberg article seems to use the two names interchangeably. So while the companies may be different entities, the current referencing is a problem. You can remedy this by finding reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss Marsh (not just Marsh & McLennan) in significant detail. Alternatively, you could roll some of the content about Marsh into the existing Marsh & McLennan Companies article, perhaps by adding a new "History" section.

@Stigmatella aurantiaca: It's not merely the number that indicates copyvio problems, but rather the similarities between the texts. The number the copyvio detector returns is sometimes helpful but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a copyright issue. If you compare the text of the two links here, you'll find that the majority of the putatively copied text is actually a series of names and proper nouns, which is not a copyright violation. I was looking at the Power Rangers page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Rangers_Lightspeed_Rescue, and then at another one of the villian's wikipedia page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Salinger -- it looks like the page for Diane Salinger has fewer references than the Jennifer Yen submission. Also, her only references are IMDB and her personal website. How did this page get approved, but the one for Jennifer was not? Is there something I should do differently?

@Khumpinla: Hi! Since Wikipedia is a volunteer project, some bad articles tend to slip through the cracks and end up on Wikipedia from time to time. If we were to judge all new content by comparison to existing articles, it could lower the quality of new Wikipedia content. As such, the "what about this other article?" argument doesn't hold much water on Wikipedia. If you're looking for a good article to compare with, you can search through the Featured Articles for inspiration, like James T. Aubrey, for example. I'll take a look at that article you mentioned.

Thank you for telling me you don't think the paragraph on "Brady typing" is not appearing constructive to you, but I have to say, just because you don't think is constructive doesn't means it is not to other users. Is not a good thing to let other reader knows that there's such thing on the internet. If you think that part is not constructive, oh boy you have tons and tons of pages that you have to delete, e.g. the page on the M-stock in Hong Kong MTR. Only a tiny tiny amount of people cares about that, but it still exists; on the other hand the word "Brady typing" cares buy thousands and thousands of fans of "Hello Internet", and you don't let it exist. Assistance Requested

Thanks for your suggestions regarding my proposed "human excreta" article. For some background, until my proposal, the term "human excreta" was included under the "human waste" article and as a redirect to same. It is crucial to realize, however, that given the reasons I lay out in the article, while they may refer to the same material, their use (as terms) couldn't be more different. IOW one describes a "waste" material while the other describes a "resource". Since "human waste" has its own article I felt it was only right that "human excreta" has its own article as well. Please note that I modestly reworked the article and have added an additional reference (a TedX presentation), the latter of which may assist you in understanding the basis from which I am proposing the article. Now, as far as neutrality goes, I'm unclear how to improve the neutrality of an article that is in effect describing a political (and thus opinionated) concept or, said another way, a politicized term. @Gruster: Hi, thanks for stopping by. I thought about your draft for a while before reviewing it. It was a tough call. On the one hand, I see how the usage of "waste" is inherently negative, and how some parties are trying to change that perception. But on the other hand, my gut feeling is that this material might fit better in an existing article like sustainable sanitation. What I suggest doing is resubmitting the draft for review. Another AFC reviewer will come along and take a look in the coming days or weeks. I will also ask the denizens of WikiProject Sanitation for comment. Both of these courses of action will bring in fresh pairs of eyes and help us determine the best spot for this content.
As for the neutrality comment, I think the article looks better now after your revisions. I'll note that sometimes "many" is considered a weasel word since it creates "an impression that something specific and meaningful has been said, when in fact only a vague or ambiguous claim has been communicated". You mention in your comments that "the majority of the sources in the references section don't mention SL Corporation by name at all." this may be true if you are just looking at the intro page to the articles, but there is significant coverage of SL in the full articles. But because these references are in analyst reports that require payment to access, you are not getting to the heart of the article.

As wikipedia says that "Sources do not have to be available online ", how can I show that my references are valid? These analyst reports are the most important and notable reference you can get in the tech world.

@Gfdemarest: Hello, thank you for inquiring here! You are correct in that sources need not be available online. However, you do need to provide enough detail so that someone can find them. The solution is to add the link to the actual analyst report, not just to the website's homepage or the introductory page. That way, someone with a subscription can access the report, and they don't have to search around the site to try to locate it themselves.

So I have a few questions regarding this:

This person is a musician. I thought that most reliable info must be in his official website and social media accounts. But you say that it is not objective. I'm not sure if I can find published material about a musician (conductor). What kinds of source can I use for reference? Can I use references like news from websites, past facebook events etc.? Can I use these references (news from websites, past facebook events etc.) written in Turkish for this English article?

It is my understanding that he engaged with Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian orchestras and maybe there are sources in these languages but I don't understand these languages, so there is a little chance that I can use any source written in these languages. What can I do about this?

However, Facebook events are generally not considered a reliable source; a good rule of thumb is to avoid relying on things from sites with user-generated content.
You can also use Turkish-language sources, as long as they are reliable ones. If you think there is a useful source but you don't speak the language, you could try inquiring at the relevant regional notice board. I'm not sure, but it's possible that someone might offer to help if you asked nicely. (I speak English and French, so if you you come across French-language sources, you're welcome to ask me for help.) @Itscamilla: Certainly! There are some very close similarities between the following sections:
  • "He also managed the company’s Advisory Board and Customer Excellence Forum and led the company’s first participation at the 2014 HIMSS Conference." Obviously you cannot change the proper nouns, but the sentence form and verb usage felt a little close to me.
  • "development of the start up healthcare technology business. HEXL develops population health programs focused on keeping the chronically ill stable, at home and out of the hospital." This is also very similar to the LinkedIn page, aside from a few words you've changed.

Decline for multiple reasons

Hi Wia, I think it will be useful if there is a feature allowing us to decline a submission for multiple reasons just like we tag articles for speedies with twinkle. I know we can raise the other issues in comment but submitter may not take the comment seriously and may only fix issues, for which the draft was declined, and next time it will get declined anyway, wasting lot of time. If a subject is not notable and article is written like an advertisement then draft could be declined for notability and advertising. Another example is declining for notability and copyright issues. I'll propose this feature on script's talk page soon. I've gone through the archives but there was no mention of this feature. I think it is a pretty useful feature. Pyle stops Article

The " Pyle stops" article is a "Things to do / Task Awaiting Attention" in the Portal:Underwater diving.

I developed this article to explain the Pyle Stops, however, Richards Pyle who discovered it by coincidence is not the main subject of the article. You moved this Article to "Richard Pyle's" bio, however, could you please return it back to "Pyle Stops" due to the following reasons:

I wrote some background about "Richard Pyle", necessary enough to build-up progressively the key behind the "Stops" named after him, so that the reader could progressively reach the aim of the article: which is the "Pyle Stops" that he discovered. The short introduction about Richad Pyle is necessary for the reader to know how did he reach such "Deep Stops" and that the reader finds out that the "Pyle Stop" it not based on mathematical model or research, but is a byproduct discovery by Dr. Richards after his research dives. I did not write more about Richard Pyle as a biologist or researcher, which could be a separate long article, but have only wrote what I believe is necessary to clarify the origin of the "Pyle Stops" practice, so divers could make up their minds if they decide to follow it.

I have already contacted Dr. Richard in Hawaii and invited him to review this draft with me. I got to this page by clicking on the "ask the reviewer that declined your submission," Apologies if I should be asking elsewhere.

You rejected the article because of copyright violation(s), which I believe I have fixed.

Before re-submitting, I wanted to make sure that you thought the article met Wikipedia's notability requirements. Most of the article is sourced from one book on the artist: "Susan Seddon Boulet: A Retrospective." I was unable to find very many other citations (just a couple of interviews with the artist, only one of which is available on YouTube at this time).

There have been 4 published books (including the Retrospective book) that are wholly devoted to the artist's art and there are numerous books (7 are cited in the article) that feature her art, including a book by Ursula K. Le Guin. It would seem as if this would make her notable. However, if the article as written does not meet the notability requirements perhaps I should: 1) Not re-submit at this time until more citations are found, or; 2) Re-write and shorten the article focusing more on the content of the 4 published books featuring her art.

The copyright issues appear to be resolved. As for notability, my first step in reviewing is to look for copyright issues, so I didn't assess the article for notability. However, a quick look seems to indicate that you've met the general notability criteria, and so I think this artist is notable. I notice that there are not inline citations after some claims about the subject that need to be verified, per Wikipedia's minimum referencing policy. For example, when you say "Throughout the 1970's her themes were largely medieval, fairy tales and fantasy; there were mermaids, musicians, a child in flowers, unicorns, nixies, jesters, knights, kings and queens, colorful processions and black women in Brazilian dress (Bahiana)", this needs an inline citation so as not to look like original research, which is prohibited on Wikipedia.

@NMazz: First, if you are editing a page as part of your work duties, you need to take a look at the paid-editing disclosure policy on Wikipedia. This is important because it implicates legal policy.
As for the article, what you generally need to meet is either the general notability criteria or the notability criteria for artists. If you can show either one, then notability will have been demonstrated for the artist. Primary sources, like the artist's own website or social media pages, are not sufficient to show notability. You can use them sparingly, but for notability purposes, you have to find reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss the subject in significant detail. Of the non-primary sources you've used, it seems to me that the Discover Jersey Arts is the best of them; the others aren't very useful because they seem to have been written by Wagner himself. (There are "About Me" sections and the like which indicate this.) Discover Jersey Arts is a start, but more will need to be found. @PBernfeld: Hi, I assume you are talking about User:PBernfeld/sandbox. The problem with the Companies House websites as sources is that they don't offer any substantial coverage of the company. It's just a bit of legal filing information like location, incorporation date and the like. There's no substantial coverage there about Hambro.
The sorts of references Wikipedia needs to show notability are detailed at WP:CORPDEPTH. Take a look; newspaper or magazine articles about the company and the like are a good place to start. WP:RS is another place to look for general information about reliable sources if you are confused. I took a look myself and didn't see much online that would show notability. However, if you can find some good sources, there is a chance that the article might pass muster.

Ricky Martin question

Hi Wikiiaweseome,

If public figures have come out, and identify as LGBT, IMHO this should be noted in the very beginning. It is National Coming Out Day today, and if people have already come out in the media, they should be out on Wikipedia for the new generations of LGBT kids--particularly LGBT kids of color who get even more pressure to stay in the closet--should see this first thing. I do not know if the LGBT Wikipedia group has discussed this issue or not, but I believe it is a worthy discussion to have.
