ref:"Kosha" contribution, of 130904 deleted by Widr as non-constructive:

Thanks for your prompt action and nice notice, Wildr, in expunging my comments and edits from KOSHA. I concur that my contribution was non-constructive. Thank you for removing the item. (I am glad you wrote to me as I did not know any part of my input for KOSHA was yet visible at wiki, as the robot had advised that nothing had been saved.)

Sorry to have given you extra work; thanks for being alert and pleasant.

Gary Barlow - genre

Hi, sorry for the interrupt. Can you revert the genre for Gary Barlow page? Yids2010 was not allow other users to revert any genre. But according to AllMusic, genre says pop/rock and classical. As for soft rock was not supported by citation and hasn't cited from AllMusic at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.171.177.247 (talk) 02:35, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Hey. If you have a reliable source for the genre and you add that source to the article, there should not be any problems. Widr (talk) 05:05, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Regarding one of my personal user pages

Dear Widr, regarding my personal page with a template User:CharlieHuang/Personal, I have unfortunately not been on the ball as of late regarding Wikipedia and last year I discovered to my disatisfaction that it had been trolled by the the user 204.152.180.10 from Oct 2011 to Dec 2012. I had at one point during this period had to remove the said template from my main userpage upon noticing the vandalism and 'blanked' it (I forgot to log in at that time so my actions was registered as an IP) so to speak so I assumed that would be the end of it. However, I checked today by chance and discovered that it had been reinstated by you through misunderstanding and that soon after that, the said user had continued to troll it until 27 Dec 2012 before he/she/it ceased. In any case, I have re-edited it to remove much of the offending content. Since the said user has not tried to continue his insidious campaign since, I have assumed they no longer will return to this childish endeavour so I will let it go (if they transgress again, I will have to request the whole page in question be deleted and report him to the relevant authorities). In any case, I have written to you here (though it was desirous of me that it would have been better under private terms) to inform you of the situation so you don't inadvertently revert my edits on that page in future. Much obliged. --Charlie Huang 【遯卋山人】 13:32, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Charlie. Now that I checked the history of your page, I can understand your concerns. Thanks for the update, and let's hope your page stays clean. Widr (talk) 19:02, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

FACTS

I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Australian Navy Cadets have been undone because they did not appear constructive ??? THE UPATES I MADE TO THIS SITE ARE VERY CONSTRUCTIVE AS THEY ARE TRUE AND PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW THE FACTS! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ta007ta (talkcontribs) 23:53, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Truth

'The Australian Navy Cadets (ANC) is a voluntary youth organization which has a record off sexual misconduct and alcohol abuse; as such it is hard to recommend this youth development organization. Parents really need to consider this before enrolling there children in the ANC.'

Clan of Kakatiyas

Many inscriptions shows Kakatiyas as the rulers, who were belonged to Shudra Varna of Telangana region. Some sources shows that, the two Kakatiya chieftains, namely 'Kapaya' and 'Prolaya' were from the Durjaya clan of Musunuru family belongs to 'Kamma' Caste. And 'Prolaya' was the blood relation of Veera Pratapa Rudra. They were called as Musunuri Nayaks. Kakatiyas were also called as 'Kakatiya Nayaks' (or) 'Karma/Kamma Nayaks'. Among them Beta-I (1000–50) was the earliest Kakatiya Nayak.[1]

Kuka muu muka

Hi, why isn't the artwork from CDON not allowed, but yours – that doesn't even have a URL source – is?[1] IMHO, WP:NFCCP allows the use of the image from CDON (only used in Kuka muu muka, contextually significant), why do you think it isn't that way? Does the CDON image have too good a resolution? -- Puisque (talk) 11:48, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Hey. In your edit summary you wrote that "you need to -explicitly- state the source -where- you got the picture from," which actually is not true. While adding the source URL is of course a good and even recommended thing, it is not obligatory; therefore I really see no grounds for replacing the picture. The fair-use policy states that you should use as little as possible of the non-free content, but the size of your replacement image was not my main concern here. That being said, you are doing a great job and I really appreciate your overall contributions . Widr (talk) 12:30, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
Ummm ok, well you are right about the fact that the NFCCP doesn't explicitly demand you to tell which website you got that picture from, but if you say so, IMHO you're too vehemently staring at the NFCCP policy, and therefore forgetting another very important policy, verifiability. Considering that all information (by extension, images) on Wikipedia articles should be properly sourced ("artwork can be obtained from the record label" is way too vague, IMHO), I don't see any problem telling where the picture copied from. So, sorry but I really don't see much point in you reverting my edit. -- Puisque (talk) 10:30, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
That's the standard non-free use rationale with the standard text. You can also add the source information to the original edit summary if you want to. Uploading a new image isn't necessary. Widr (talk) 11:26, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Important information - Martin Moffat

Hello Widr

I am the great grandaughter of Martin Moffat. Unfortunately some of the content of the page about Martin Moffat is historically incorrect. Martin Moffat during the time before his death was a guard on Sligo dock, whilst on duty he discovered some illegal activity and reported the men responsible. Shortly after this time he was found dead as you say on your website. The coroner's verdict was accidental death and not suicide - this was a rumour at the time. It was quite widely known in Sligo that Martin Moffat's death was as a result of foul play and this was confirmed some years later. During the 1980's one of the men responsible for his death actually approached my grandmother in Sligo and confessed his role in the death of her father and asked for forgiveness. It's hard to explain to someone else how much it offends and distresses his daughters and other members of the family, who are alive and well, when they read claims of suicide. Suicide is unthinkable to anyone in the Catholic faith. Martin Moffat, his family and descendants have all been raised with a strong Catholic faith and have been deeply hurt and shamed by material that seeks to perpetuate stories of suicide. I am sure that you would prefer your page to be histroically correct. I would respectfully like to ask that you remove the information accordingly please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.198.249.242 (talk) 20:50, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello. I understand your concerns and have removed the sentence regarding his death altogether. I hope this helps. Widr (talk) 21:03, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Abu Zubaydah

This is in response to your undoing of my reaction to the astonishing bias of this article. I'm not sure how this works, so I'll just copy it here for your convenience. <<Hello, I'm Widr. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Abu Zubaydah because it didn't appear constructive. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Widr (talk) 08:11, 2 May 2013 (UTC)>>

I note that you, in other edits you've made for other articles on your talk page, make frequent use of this phrase "does not appear constructive." This is, ironically, not only a borderline ad hominem attack on me, but such a comment by you is itself "not particularly constructive," especially as it must've been clear that I spent some time on it and obviously felt strongly about it. I suppose you must have considerable clout to have risen to such a level where you can dispense with someone's work, even someone with considerable academic credentials (IMHO), with nothing more than the opinion that the work "did not appear constructive."

As such, I would appreciate it if you could make an effort to be just a bit more explicit about what it was about my comments that did not appear constructive. If the article is in fact seriously biased, then the unsuspecting reader should be at least alerted to the fact that some people, especially some people with the credentials (PhD, Public Policy Analysis) to know the difference, have this opinion. The article can stand as it is, but should not be allowed to stand as is without a banner, like those I have seen in many other Wiki articles, that alert the reader to the presence of some debate about the article.

I have edited a few articles over the years, on various subjects, but always carefully and never recklessly, except, according to you, in this case.

If it is not apparent to you, or anyone for that matter, that this article has been written with a definite agenda in mind, from a particular point of view, and with the intention of portraying the subject in the most positive possible light, then we are certainly done. Perhaps, if the best you can do after further consideration is the same response, you could ask another referee like yourself to consider whether your comments about my comments were constructive? Errare humanum est? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edfranks (talkcontribs) 07:55, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

I don't expect you (a busy body) to verify or edit my addition. As a Rugby League fan I just added the FACT that he died on Friday evening. I would expect this to be removed only if inaccurate. Keep your nose out!

It is not about being a busy body nor is it about your addition being inaccurate; you need to add a reliable source when you add such updates to articles. Widr (talk) 15:01, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Brian Lamb, one more thing

Hi there, Widr. I saw you'd reverted some dumb vandalism on Brian Lamb in the last few hours, although there is one last occurrence of "rife" in the Personal life section. I'd fix it myself, but I'm a consultant to C-SPAN, and I avoid direct edits as Jimbo has advised editors with a financial COI to do. Hope you're able to take care of it. Hoodie Allen

I'm not sure if it was because I was an anon, or because you have some misinformation, but Hoodie Allen's actual name is Steven A. Markowitz, not Andrew Allen. I did not change his name due to vandalism, I changed it because that is his actual name. Heck, one of references to the fact he was born in a Jewish household even says so. Darkkiwi77 (talk) 15:34, 4 October 2013 (UTC)darkkiwi77

Seems to be true, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately us RC patrollers can't possibly check all the existing links, and since your addition didn't come with a source (nor was the real name mentioned anywhere else in the article), I reverted it. I have now fixed parts of the article accordingly. Widr (talk) 15:50, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Well, it was before, which is strange, I'm not sure who originally edited it so it would say "Andrew Allen" his actual name was mentioned in his personal life as well, since his name is not actually "Hoodie Allen". Also, under "full-length albums" he has none, the two mentioned are just EP's. Darkkiwi77 (talk) 16:01, 4 October 2013 (UTC)darkkiwi77
Feel free to make necessary corrections to the article. I'm not familiar with the subject, so I'll be happy to leave it to you. Widr (talk) 16:05, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Tianeptine

Hello,

I redid edits on the tianeptine page. Basically I removed the passive voice (i.e., "it is increasingly being thought that" vs. "many believe") or ("This is believed to be achieved" vs. "This may be achieved"), removed ambiguous statements (i.e., "Perhaps the most studied hypothesis is that..." vs. "Some researchers hypothesize..."), and basically improved the quality of writing (i.e., "it is increasingly being thought that the efficacy of many antidepressants is due in large part to their promotion of synaptic plasticity" vs. "many believe the efficacy of antidepressants is related to promotion of synaptic plasticity"). I was able to remove 85 characters with no modifications to the actual content.
