Misunderstanding

Okay for starters I don't understand why the info regarding Cristine Marie's birth was removed back in June if the page had her year of birth for a couple of months/years, secondly I was unaware of this information, and thirdly what about facebook posts or tweets to inform the actor was born on this day?--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 18:26, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

@AnimeDisneylover95: One thing to remember is that it is always your duty to add a reliable source for any and all of your additions. Also, per WP:BLPSOURCES, we have to be extra careful with biographies of living people. Widr (talk) 18:36, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Janet Jackson - No Sleeep

I do my edits in order to put right and necessary information, I know sometimes I mistake but usually do the right thing (sometimes lack references and something more) --Felipeedit (talk) 19:56, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

@Felipeedit: I'm happy to see you responding now. We all make occasional mistakes, so that's not a big deal, but just like IJBall wrote on your talk page, please start using edit summaries more often, especially if you remove content from articles. Widr (talk) 05:07, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi

Hi information was reverted from this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docomo_Pacific I received an email to ask questions about it here. The email said that I had used copywriter materials improperly.

This is confusing since 100% of the content I posted was created by me. I did not quote anybody or any source. I just posted clear, simple facts. I would be more than happy to fix this problem if I could learn what the actual infraction is.

This is very important since the existing information on the page is very inaccurate and has a great deal of mis-information about DOCOMO Pacific. Ronald Brigman (talk) 08:47, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank You,

@Ronald Brigman: Please read the links posted on your talk page. Your additions were copied word-to-word from external website which make them a copyright violation. You should also read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Widr (talk) 09:25, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

History of democracy

Hi Widr, there are several edits by IP 217.206.126.34 on History of democracy which need rolling back. I don't have the rights to do this-- wondered if you might be able to? Whizz40 (talk) 05:18, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. I reverted to a previous version. Widr (talk) 05:36, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

@Calvin999: Pay more attention to your edits. You are removing valid reports. Widr (talk) 16:10, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
I didn't remove anything. I just left a response, clearly.  — Calvin999 16:10, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
[1]. Widr (talk) 16:12, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
I couldn't have removed all of that by typing one sentence.  — Calvin999 16:13, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
That's what you did, and that's why I reverted your edits. Widr (talk) 16:18, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Calvin999, please be more judicious when templating experienced editors. Widr, a short edit summary would have avoided this confusion. --NeilN talk to me 16:23, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

(edit conflict) I didn't highlight and delete anything. I only left a response. I think I would know if I had had deleted more than 2,500 characters worth of text. This is the second time this has happened when I didn't delete what I was being accused of. It's clearly some technicality issue on Wikipedia's fault. It's impossible of me to have purposely, even accidentally, have deleted that much text. If you had left an edit summary, by the way, it would have alerted my attention to it. Thanks NeilN, but I'm hardly inexperienced myself.  — Calvin999 16:25, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
True, I should have left a summary in this case, though I assumed that the reason would be obvious. Usually, when I get reverted, I first dig out the diff and compare the two versions before doing anything about it. If the revert is correct, I might even thank the editor for it. Widr (talk) 16:44, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Well, no, because I was completely unaware that I'd somehow blanked half the reports (even though I never purposely selected anything to blank in the first place). I did look at the diff, but the only think that looked different to me was the removal of my comment. I didn't scroll down to see the section underneath that been removed, because I knew I hadn't removed anything. This happened to me only the other month when I was accused of deleting mass text when I'd only written a few words long comment. But no-one told me, and everyone jumped on the bandwagon of telling me the do's and don't's of Wikipedia. If you'll notice, the edit summary for my addition of the comment is blank, it doesn't even have the pre-loaded text of User-reported: in it.  — Calvin999 16:57, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Now that you mentioned it, I do notice the blankness. I have no idea what has caused it; never happened to me, I think, although I visit AIV frequently. Anyway, your response is there finally, and no one has died in the process, so I think we can safely put this behind us now. Widr (talk) 17:06, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Okay, good.  — Calvin999 17:10, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Rashard Higgins

Rashard Higgins was an all american last year. he is on every preseason awards list out, and is the preseason player of the year for the mountain west, but you have removed him from the notable alumni. he led the country in receiving yards and touchdowns last year, and was a finalist for the belitnikofk award. seems of note to me — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.31.83.133 (talk) 18:13, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

You added "Hollywood Higgins" to the article, producing a red link (no article). There seems to be an article for Rashard Higgins, so you are free to add it. Widr (talk) 18:18, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

suddenly film (1954)

Hi Widr -- Got your message that you "undid" my edit of the plot because you deemed it "not constructive". Perhaps you can be specific. What didn't you like? I watched the movie several times and spent several hours researching the script, etc. to describe the relationships between all of the characters. The existing plot concentrated on Baron and, for example, didn't even mention the character Ellen, around whom much of the movie revolved, until the last paragraph. I'm a professional script and narration writer. Let's hear specifics.Michael james johnson (talk) 01:08, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

@Michael james johnson: Hi Michael. I'm sorry for reverting your edit, but per WP:FILMPLOT, the summary should be between 400 and 700 words. You also started your edit, obviously by mistake, with two random words. You are of course free to work on the summary, but try to stay inside the suggested limits. Thanks. Widr (talk) 01:22, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

OK, now that I understand the rules, I'll cut it down. BTW, you mentioned a "mistake" in beginning the summary with two words. If you'll go back and check it, the existing summary began with those same words. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michael james johnson (talkcontribs) 05:09, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Hmm, no, it actually doesn't. Widr (talk) 10:28, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Billy Fuccillo "Huge!" Edit

Hi Widr,

You asked me to add a citation for Billy Fuccillo's trademark phrase being "HUGE" when I did. The article already cited on the page uses his "HUGE" slogan in it's title, and the article goes on to explain his marketing campaign which also references "HUGE!". I hope you reconsidering removing it because it's one of the only non-generic comments about Mr. Fuccillo on his page.

Additionally, his website also makes reference to "HUGE!" on numerous occasions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.193.240.197 (talk) 15:42, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Erm, you're right, there it is. I've re-added it for now. Widr (talk) 15:52, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Human Rights in China

Hi,Widr,I am 明溪,I used to edit the entry,"Human Rights in China".I am a Chinese student.Maybe you do not know, most of the information in the entry "Human Rights in China" is obsolete and false. I am a citizen in SOCIALIST country, maybe you dislike the political system in SOCIALIST (or Marxist,Communist...etc)country,you may accuse it Autocratic and no liberty,so the human rights in the nation is very bad...But,the thought is really obsolete ,irresponsible and false. When I read the article,I felt my homeland was CONQUERED!Please think about it:All the reader all over the world will Misunderstanding China about read the article! They will think China is a Authoritarian and miserable country!I am very Anxiety and angry. In fact,we Chinese have Religious freedom and other many human rights,They misunderstanding us...... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 明溪 (talkcontribs) 12:58, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

@明溪: Hello. If there are mistakes or errors, you have to fix them. You can't just blank the article or add your own comments there. Please also note that since this is the English Wikipedia, everything you add needs to be written in English. Widr (talk) 13:12, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi,Widr,I am 明溪. I failed. As soon as I rectify the article "Human rights in China",some editor accused me of "vandalism",they say my editing is my personal views although I quote authoritative words. They deleted my editing in the end .They are sure that they understand China entirely. Should I keep fighting with them? Will it cause editing war? 明溪 (talkcontribs) 14,August,2015,9:45 —Preceding undated comment added 01:47, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

No, you should not edit war. I would suggest you raise the issue on the talk page of the article. Instead of adding unreferenced personal analysis you need to back up your additions with a reliable source. Widr (talk) 17:03, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Max Eternity (user: maxeternity)

Hi Widr,

I was very surprised to discover that I have been blocked from contributing to Wikipedia. It has been many days, if not weeks, since I signed in to Wikipedia, and as well, because I'm the only person who uses my laptop I am completely baffled that somehow my IP address was used to vandalize a page that I've never even heard of. Bizarre. And clearly, if you read my brief bio and if you look at all the valuable contributions that I've made to Wikipedia, I think it should be obvious that some sort of error occurred that confused my IP address with someone else. The sooner this can be cleared up the better, and let me know if you require anything else. Maxeternity (talk) 02:01, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi Max, I see that your question has already been answered on the IP talk page. Happy editing. Widr (talk) 12:02, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Improper mass deletions

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at Yrjö Norta, you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. And it would appear dozens of other articles. You need to stop or otherwise have a policy basis or consensus if you wish to proceed with such mass deletions. Dl2000 (talk) 02:09, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

@Dl2000: Thanks for the pretty template. I am removing redundant infoboxes from several articles I have created. As you might, or should know, there is no policy that requires articles to have infoboxes, and it seems uncontroversial to me as I am basically the sole author. question about art scam

Hello

My name is Dina and i'm an israeli designer and artist. (have first degree in visual communications). i have been promoting and selling art door to door.

the fact that i'm from israel and selling art in a proper way: telling people that these are commercial paintings and not original art, giving the ability to return the paintings.

your page has damaged my work.

i am aware people in the past used to sell the paintings in awful ways by lying to people.

we are trying to do our best, be legitimate and sell the paintings as commercial ones.

not only that, galleries all over the world are selling those paintings as well.

this is exactly what i'm telling to people:

all of the paintings are coming from a studio and a warehouse in Waterford, uk, called IAS - international are suppliers. (we are buying the paintings from there). and they have been done abroad. the paintings are meant to sit in galleries, but we are taking the paintings from IAS, and promoting them through the doors in a different way. non of these paintings are mine.

these paintings have been done in a commercial way, which means non of the artists sat in front views, but the paintings are being done inside studios, and the artists are getting paid for their work. these paintings come as a collection which means there is more then one. the oils that are used are based on a synthetic resin which are cheaper oils and the canvas is a synthetic one as well. you are not supporting any artists, only me as a traveller and the company that i work with.

i leave my personal number and a website if people want to return the paintings, they may do that, and we have returned peoples money if they wished to.

the fact is that i am not lying to people saying it's original work. once people see the word "scam" it doesn't matter what has been told to them and i immediately falling into the character of a criminal, which i'm not.

i'm asking either to delete the page or change it in someway.

thank you, Dina.

Dina, you need to take these concerns to the article's talk page. You cannot just blank the content. Thanks. Widr (talk) 05:42, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

I am only just a concerned citizen

I have, for the past three weeks, been checking out profiles of people in and outside of our country, India, and I am not happy with the fact that a lot of our natives' profiles have never been written. I don't want to call this a challenge but a pleaded request that you please write a lot of their profiles.

Thank you. Cleft Musa (talk) 23:35, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

No problem. Thank you for helping with the shadow department. Widr (talk) 21:10, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, I noticed that you exceeded WP:3RR at [Hellenic Army]]. I realize the other editor was in the wrong but it appears to me that that editor is merely ignorant of policy, not intentionally vandalizing the page as would be required to make a 3RR exception. Also, unless I missed something, it doesn't appear you really tried to explain your actions to the editor apart from templating his talk page. --Non-Dropframe talk 18:32, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

That's vandalism-only account. It should be obvious to anyone looking at their editing history and edit summaries. Widr (talk) 18:41, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
I'm merely giving you a friendly reminder. The user's history is irrelevant, WP:3RR does not provide exemptions for that. The user clearly believed that the content that you were removing should stay and, as I said, no attempt was made to explain the policies for non-English content. --Non-Dropframe talk 18:50, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
I wouldn't call their history irrelevant when this is clearly both a vandalism-only account and a sock of someone holding a grudge against Thomas.W. Widr (talk) 19:05, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Max Baldwin

Last year, you reverted this version of Max Baldwin's article back to the first paragraph alone: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Max_Baldwin&oldid=620294712. New editor (probably one close to the subject) who did not reference anything. I was quickly able to confirm many of the details in the reverted article, and find information that makes the rest highly likely (eg Max Baldwin is the named contact person for Gymnastics NSW in a 1987 newsletter, and was made a Life Member in 1990). Why revert rather than look for confirmation or otherwise, esp given the editor was new? Sportygeek (talk) 20:24, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

A semi automated solution to Shadows Commons

If you allow technical renames like this for FNC#9 situations then the process of moving them becomes a bot task,

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File%3ABohr_model.jpg&type=revision&diff=682440062&oldid=634253010

Bascily what happens is that filename.ext becomes filename (upload_timestamp).ext.

I am considering sugessting this on the bots noticeboard.Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:11, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

My understanding of anything related to bots is pretty much zero, but that sounds good, so be my guest. ;-) Widr (talk) 19:29, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
