Just a question

I have more than 200 edits in mainspace. But I haven't done more anti-vandalism works. Please help me how can I fight vandalism?—Nepali keto62 Questions?!?!? 15:01, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) Before actually 'fighting' it on your own, Nepali keto62, join up at the counter-vandalism unit. That'll show you what it's all about. Muffled Pocketed 15:03, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
In fact, Nepali keto62, it appears you have already had all this explained to you. Why do you have to ask other people when you have been given a very comprehensive answer by User:Redolta? I also notice that you edit-warred to delete material on his take page- I assure you that you could be blocked for both those actions. Muffled Pocketed 15:13, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
@Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi: That edit on user page of Redolta was an accident. Sorry for that. And the next thing nobody is adopting me as their student in counter vandalism academy. Please help me.—Nepali keto62 Questions?!?!? 15:18, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
It's good that you apologised on his talk page for reverting him, but the edit you mention was actually the second time you had done it.
Why won't they have you in the academy, did they say? Muffled Pocketed 15:29, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
No they are neither giving proper answer nor are adopting me. Please give them suggestion.—Nepali keto62 Questions?!?!? 15:38, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
Well: it was silly to post an adoption request on every single tutor's page. Maybe they don't answer because they think one of the other three might! It is probably Titodutta who is closest to you in timezones (IST rather than NPT). However you never know; they might also be thinking you do not qualify for mentoring yet. Note one of the conditions is that "If you have previously been warned or requested to follow guidelines, you should have demonstrated that you have addressed these issues"; do you think you have, yet...? Muffled Pocketed 15:50, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
@Nepali keto62: Don't forget to look at the places where you have already asked about the CVU - it looks like you have been given an answer already. --bonadea contributions talk 16:28, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
No I dont remember any such notices expects minor threats for moving article, not providing edit summary etc.—Nepali keto62 Questions?!?!? 16:16, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

Edit war at Benfica

Hi, You are active admin so I come to you regarding edit war at 2016–17 S.L. Benfica season. There is a current report at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:P3DRO reported by User:SLBedit (Result: ) and now SLBedit also went to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:P3DRO. SLBedit is just as guilty himself and both should be blocked. Also note that he did the same just a few days ago Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Italia2006 reported by User:SLBedit (Result: Warned user(s)) and Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive929#User:Italia2006 and he was then told not to do forumshoppping. He edit wars then reports the other editor. Qed237 (talk) 17:12, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

The reason for going here instead of waiting for someone to do something about the reports is that it is intensifying and needs attention fast. Qed237 (talk) 17:13, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, but I'll pass this one. Widr (talk) 17:45, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
I understand. Do you know someone that might help or should I just wait and see? Qed237 (talk) 18:06, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
There are admins who regularly patrol these particular boards, so I would expect one of them to come along soon enough. Widr (talk) 18:10, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Do you remember?

Hello Widr. Some time in the last couple weeks you blocked an IP that I had reported at AIV. Their disruptive editing involved adding overlinks to film infoboxes and removing the term "uncredited" from cast lists and filmogrphies. Well today the same kind of editing has been done by 166.175.190.240 (talk · contribs) and 107.77.207.20 (talk · contribs). I have posted the same kind of request to stop on both IPs talk page as I did at the previous one. I did not realize that this was going to become an ongoing problem so I did not record the first IP. Is there any chance that you remember this? I know that this is a long shot because you have done a ton of editing and admin actions since then but I thought it worth asking anyway. Please don't worry about it if this doesn't ring a bell. I am going to keep a record from now on. Thanks for your time and cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 19:10, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Impossible to remember. You may find it somewhere in my block logs if you want to investigate. Widr (talk) 19:16, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
That is what I figured. FYI the 107 IP is still performing the disruptive edits. Can you get them or would you prefer that I go to AIV. Thanks again. MarnetteD|Talk 19:25, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Regarding my grant

Thank you for granting me rollback rights. I was led to request the privilege largely by a mysterious incident over the past week concerning the Wikipedia page of film director Lars von Trier: extensive edits were made (primarily by a new user named Augstn), after which the article was notably less encyclopedic, and in fact resembled puffery in various places. The resulting conflict – which included a breaking of the 3RR for which he was later given a warning by another user – involved several people, with the disagreement written mainly on my talk page: I provided explanations of why his preferred version of the page's lead section was improper, and why many of his changes were unwelcome. None of those who replied seemed to have read my responses, and it therefore became difficult to assume good faith. The issue was then taken to the administrators' noticeboard in a discussion that has since been archived. After that, I decided to post on the page a POV template that remains there.

It was all quite bizarre. If reading parts of the discussion on my talk page and looking over some of Augstn's edits are not too time-consuming for you, I'd like to ask: would it have then been an acceptable use of rollback to have simply undone his/her edits over July 24-28 whenever rollback applied? Your input on this strange case of potential vandalism would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, AndrewOne (talk) 22:28, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Rollback can be used when vandalism or disruption is obvious, but it's always safer to use the undo function which allows you to leave an explanation. Widr (talk) 05:01, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Info about deleted page

Hi Widr,

I posted an article today about an organization in our area. It was deleted as advertising. I don't understand why. I thought followed the rules and cited news media sources. I hear about this organization in the news a lot they had some really cool things going on. I googled them a few times and had to sort through a lot of articles to find all out about them. I wanted to make it easy for other people who are searching about them. They do fundraisers sometimes and it's nice to about the organization. The area they serve has a lot of veterans and it was really cool what they did for that WWII vet, who wasn't even their client. People in this area, where we have a large military population, would also appreciate that story. It looks like other people tried to post articles about this organization in the past, and they were deleted too. Maybe internationally this place is not a big deal. But it kind of is in our area. What do I need to change to have the article stay up? Thanks in advance. Oh, by the way, I'm not affiliated with them. No one paid me to write the article. I just thought it was worth having.

I don't know if it's ok to mention the name of the organization, so I didn't risk it. I don't want to be banned from contributing.

Thanks again in advance for letting me know what I could do differently, Lalmo2 (talk) 23:14, 6 August 2016 (UTC)Lalmo2

Hi Lalmo. Please read WP:ORG. Even though your subject is of course important, it does not automatically mean that an encyclopedia should have an article about it. Widr (talk) 11:23, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi Widr. Yes. I read those guidelines before submitting the article. One of my cited sources is a regional television station. There are other regional sources outside of the state of Illinois I could cite, such as a television station in St. Louis, MO and the St. Louis Business Journal. This organization is actually in the St. Louis Metro region. But it is also outside the Metro further into Illinois, which is where the TV station I cited is. So it is regional in more than one region, if that makes sense. Should I cite more sources? Thanks again for your response. Lalmo2 (talk) 20:23, 7 August 2016 (UTC)Lalmo2

Corruption Must Stop!

Hello Widr, the fact am new on wikipedia deos not mean i did not know anything about the wikipedia policy or laws. Their are two criminals and scammers roaming about on wikipedia User:Oluwa2Chainz and User:Versace1608. Those two names mentioned are freelancer on wikipedia according to what i understand by WP:PAID. Wikipedia is a non-profit organization. The little have seen on wikipedia has showed me administartor are not doing their jobs on wikipedia, I am not happy for this seriously ashmed of my self for what have been seeing here on wikipedia. This two people User:Oluwa2Chainz and User:Versace1608 have been collecting money from the music indusrty in nigeria just to write about them on wikipedia. The worst is User:Oluwa2Chainz a criminal person who have been taging Wikipedia:Articles for deletion threating some musical artist telling them their article on wikipedia will soon be deleted if he did not get his own share of money. I ask my self are they no administrators on wikipedia to investigate this matters. I strongly suspect User:Oluwa2Chainz but i am not really clear for now about User:Versace1608. This will be a big disgrace to all administrators on wikipedia if this investigation did not take palce. Corruption must stop belive me if this matter is investigated wikipedia will be better. That"s reminds me User:Oluwa2Chainz wrote this article Runtown and Gallardo (Runtown song) he was paid to write it, i know what am saying here on wikipedia, He told Runtown that his gonna write his article on wikipedia and Negotiated with him with some amount of money which i don"t know for now. Also the same as Cynthia Morgan he contacted her manager who is the owner of Northside Music which is Negotiated according to WP:PAID. Please administarors investigate very well because what am seeing now are not proper and its corrution, this users are working as team User:Oluwa2Chainz, User:Versace1608, User:Stanleytux to defend article because of money. Ok check out this according to what have seen on wikipedia User:Oluwa2Chainz have being reverting peoples edit on wikipedia all because of money becuase he own a copy of every biography he has writting or paid for, this is a strong evidence and more evidence are coming if this matters is investigated thanks, Looking forward to the adminstators works.--DGrecordz (talk) 20:13, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

@DGrecordz: That's an extremely bold claim, especially considering they are all established editors. Calling them "criminals" might even be considered a personal attack by some. Do you have any proof of your claims? Dat GuyTalkContribs 20:22, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
Hello DatGuy sorry for calling them criminals because it pains me a lot. Do you know how much money this user User:Oluwa2Chainz have eaten since he was a wikipediadian. A strong evidence on User:Oluwa2Chainz when he was sending proposal to musical artist will soon be reviewed soon. I will screenshot the image once i have get intouch with those people he has collected money from thaks for your reponse i appreciate.--DGrecordz (talk) 20:32, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
@DGrecordz: On what article was that? Dat GuyTalkContribs 20:35, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
@DatGuy: This user User:Oluwa2Chainz has Collected money on this articles he created Runtown and Cynthia Morgan. A strong prove of when he was contacting them via emails on negotiation of money will soon be reviewed.
Widr and DatGuy from what I can find DGrecordz seems to be a SPA whose only article space edits are to Humblesmith (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs). Oluwa2Chainz reverted their unexplained edits. Since them DG has been posting these unfounded accusations on several editors talk pages. Whether DG has edited under a previous username or not IMO these personal attacks should stop at once - unless actual proof of paid editing can be provided. Otherwise this has tones of WP:BATTLEGROUND tactics. There may be things about this situation that I am unaware of but I wanted to save you some time by posting what is in the various edit histories. MarnetteD|Talk 21:48, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
Thank you Marnette. If the SPA actually does come up with something Perhaps a fake e-mail then I'll redirect it to Oversight or any involved party (most likely not going to happen). Dat GuyTalkContribs 21:53, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

??? in infoboxes

I see you removed the ??? from a bunch of infoboxes that Davier18 had added to various popes - one of them was in my watchlist for historical reasons. I think that the ??? (sometimes a single ?) is an ugly habit; its only advantage is to call attention to the fact that the birth/death dates/places are unknown (to Wikipedia at any rate) but their absence alone should be enough. I was going to run AWB to root out the remaining occurrences at least in the popes, although I've seen it elsewhere on occasion, but I just want to check: are you aware of any policy or consensus either for or specifically against their use? I couldn't find any in the infobox docs. I'd just like to have a defense if challenged. David Brooks (talk) 23:37, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
