Total Quality Assurance[edit]

The article I placed for Total Quality Assurance is that it is not the same as Total Quality Management. It has a different methodology and structure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bps516 (talkcontribs) 18:01, 2 January 2013 (UTC) : By my reading, TQA is a buzzword created at a single conference less than 1 year ago, and by its description is, at best, a subset of TQM, not really a completely unrelated concept. I note that the single reference used in the TQA article was written by one Brian Sebring, and I wonder if there is perhaps a conflict of interest in play. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:06, 2 January 2013 (UTC) I am one of the developers of it but I receive no monetary compensation nor did I put any links anything promoting myself. I am a subject matter expert in Quality Assurance and software testing so proving myself as a non-linked reference is allowed (as I understand it in the COI). I appreciate and understand your concern. If you want more references listed I’ll put something together that is a bit more in depth and though the reference I listed was less than a year ago the concept is not that new. If you want to pull the page down, no problem I completely understand, but I would at least request it not to be liked incorrectly to TQM. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bps516 (talkcontribs) 18:49, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The original content of the article included the statement:
This philosophy was initially introduced and presented at the 2012 STAR EAST Software Conference.
You'll forgive me for thinking this is a new concept, since that's what your article told me.
You are free to undo my edits, but if more independent sources are not found to support the notability of the concept, the page will likely be nominated for deletion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:31, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
PS: A quick search of Google shows me that the term "Total Quality Assurance" is used by any number of vendors for their own particular brand of quality management and quality assurance products and/or methods. Your introduction of a concept in 2012 may or may not be the same as all of these other vendors' concepts, but the term is so broadly used, that any differentiation from the existing total quality management will be meaningless. Response to your message[edit]

Hello, WikiDan61. You have new messages at IfixURLs's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hello WikiDan61, the edits I made were to update old URLs to the new ones that have replaced the old pages. The links on your page are not currently getting 404s because there are redirects in place, but it's best practice to point to the new URLs to avoid possible future 404 errors.

Your intention might have been to correct links, but your actual accomplishment was only to remove the <ref> tags from the pages, thus breaking the referencing mechanism altogether. And please don't refactor my talk page (by removing carriage returns and thus breaking the formatting of my prior discussions). This is considered very bad form. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:31, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am very sorry. I am new to this and did not intend to remove carriage returns or do any other harm. I was only trying to help by providing updated links to prevent 404 errors. The only edits I made on the page were to the old/incorrect URLs and the page looked good when I previewed it prior to saving. Please accept my apology. CSD: you sure?[edit]

Hey, WikiDan, are you sure about declining the G12 for HV Jain (Jain Bhai)? It may well be that the text is from Wikipedia, but the licensing of Wikipedia has changed over the years; if this text was taken under the GFDL (which the wesbite states is its license), it might not be allowed to be reimported into Wikipedia per Wikipedia:Licensing_update#Content_restrictions, since the GFDL is no longer enough. I'm not a copyright expert, so I'll take your word for it if you're sure. Writ Keeper 16:40, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure, but since the page is a reproduction of material previously deleted per AFD, it is eligible for speedy under that criterion. (So tagged.)WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:41, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that's probably a better solution anyway. Thanks! Writ Keeper 16:42, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion nomination of Jalal Nali[edit]

Hi Dan, We do not know your reasons to put dr's Nali page into deletion 'delibirations'? We added new links videos and articles from respectable websites Tv's and new media.

We are confused about this unusual situation? We could find none sens articles about unknown people... and when we put one person that counts...?

We are sure that this is a missunderstanding, and we would like to ask you to put it back as normal article out of any claculations.

This is a purley informative page about thousends of Moroccan politicians.

thank you in Advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maroc Intelligence (talkcontribs) 14:29, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I nominated the page for deletion for the reasons listed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jalal Nali, namely that this person does not appear to meet the criteria for inclusion. His renown in Morocco seems to be largely of his own making: he has written a lot, but not a lot has been written about him. I.e., there do not appear to be any independent sources. If you can provide some reliable sources, please do so. Also, since the article has been nominated for deletion, please make any comments regarding that issue at the proper AFD discussion. You most be kidding saying this His renown in Morocco seems to be largely of his own making ? (don't make any statements which could have legal incidence please). Please try to think one sec, did you ever been contacted by any media for life tv? Mr. Nali did, he was invited to go to London for just 3 min interview.

Bob Kushell article[edit]

Hi Dan, I'm Bob Kushell's publicist; we've just updated his page in preparation for the launch of his new British television series, Way to Go, (which we've also created a page for) to enable reporters interviewing him to have proper background information when they research him. Please let me know if you need any further information. Best, K. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 33Wikiwriter (talkcontribs) 20:18, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a proper use of Wikipedia. All material must be properly sourced. You could say anything you want about him and we'd have no way to verify the information. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:27, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Kushell Article[edit]

Hi Dan, The information in the Bob Kushell article is primarily resourced (and cited) from his imdb.com page, and from the articles that have appeared online regarding his new show (also cited). There are no falsehoods in the piece, but I certainly understand your concern re: protecting Wikipedia's universe. We would highly appreciate you not completely yanking the article, and instead request citations where you are bothered by potential inaccuracies. I'm sure we can supply you with source material that will satisfy your high standards. We want to behave properly within the Wikipedia world--frankly, I'm new to it. Much thanks, K. 33Wikiwriter (talk) 20:42, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB is not considered a reliable source for biographical information because any registered user is free to submit a biography, which undergoes no editorial review process to verify the facts in the biography. It is the burden of the writer to supply verification. When an editor with a conflict of interest, such as an actor's publicist, provides a large, uncited biography of the actor, the standard remedy is to revert the edits of the COI editor. Editors with a conflict of interest should not edit the article in the first place. If there are factual errors in the article, you may request that they be addressed at the articles talk page. You may provide sources there to allow other editors to evaluate your change requests and add material as required. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:48, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dan, Thanks for your feedback and help. Please understand there is nothing underhanded intended; the article is completely factual and based on the format we noted on Wikipedia in numerous other extremely similar articles about television writers (including the lengthy article on Jud Aptow, for example). All cited IMDB. Not sure what more you could want cited, in terms of verifying credits. Please--if you have a preferred citation source please let us know and we will include it. We will make every effort to provide any further information available through proper channels and update information in keeping with Wikipedia's high standards. Best, K 33Wikiwriter (talk) 23:02, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The difference between your article on Kushell and the article on Jud Apatow is that the Apatow article is supported over 60 different sources, while your article relies on only two (and both of those are for the most recent Way to Go series). Biographies of living people are under a particular microscope here at Wikipedia, and the requirement for valid sources is more stringent than in other articles. If you can provide reliable sources for your biographical material, fine. Otherwise, we'll just have to live with knowing that much less about Kushell. This is a common mistake to make and has probably already been corrected. Please do not sign your edits to article content, as the article's edit history serves the function of attributing contributions, so you only need to use your signature to make discussions more readable, such as on article talk pages or project pages such as the Village Pump. Deletion of article Angelo Antonio Toriello[edit]

If the deletion of this article has to be based on an "authentic" independent criterion of verifications, then with all due respect, a large part of articles in Wikipedia should be re-considered for deletion. However, the point here is not that, but the source of verification of which we are talking about for the Toriello's case are in the ParadoxxMedia website itself in form of pictures scanned from the original articles issued by notorious newspapers in Italy, India and some networks like Rai2, Rete Quattro and some other network as well which for the instance have removed the data from their archives and which myself I have personally verified the originality of the all before to hazard any publishing idea. Although ParadoxxMedia is part of UB project, these are totally independent from Toriello, though is the founder and, for the instance, who he is not at all aware yet of this going on, since this is just a personal initiative. Therefore, before stating that those are not independent prove of verification for Toriello's accomplishments, a fair investigation should be launched to affirm that these data are from genuine and independent sources or not. Myself, as a occasionally freelance journalist beside my main profession, before to tribute this article to Toriello's life as I personally believe worth to be published for many reasons and which satisfy the general public interest, I have been screening his doing since 10 years with enough neutral critic sense, although my well acquaintance with the person. I don't see any sense of Toriello himself referring independent verification accomplishments to his own website where it is clearly stated that himself is the founder. Sorry for my expression, but someone doing that must be really dumb!. However, if necessary, I can provide evidence of genuineness of the case by standing for it to any request, even if I would have to personally meet concerned Wikipedia decisional board, in order to clear the person name for self-source of information. Moreover, regarding COSINT org, should be addressed a request of information at http://www.cosint.eu/ and www.allafrica.com. Instead, regarding his diplomatic position, inquiry should be addressed to the government of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome & Prinicpe. In other words, as this is a free source encyclopedia for free public contribution, before deletion, information about some proposed article should be duly and deeply investigated. I apologize for any inappropriate form or grammatical errors as English is not my first language. Thanks. DrKlain (talk) 16:22, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bilingual messages[edit]

For new authors using other languages, there is a series of messages listed at WP:PNT/T, many of which have the advantage of being bilingual, so that even if, for instance, our recent Albanian solid-geometer has no English at all, {{contrib-sq1}} will get through to him. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:38, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing those out. The generic {{uw-notenglish}} template invites the user to translate the article into English, which is not always a worthwhile effort, which is why I created my own template for those occasions. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:38, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The speedy deletion of DJ Joe Rosso[edit]

Hi Dan

Joe here, You filed for a speedy deletion of my article that was submitted into wikipedia, Could you please forward me the contents of the article please. Also the article was yes about myself but publishing into wikipedia as I am a public figure both on radio and TV, I have noticed that wikipedia as published many public fugures within there pages and are still live to view. Why was mine deleted? 1) The article was not yet completed 2) more contents was being added 3) did I not insert something which could have made the article still live or is the person the article referring not allowed to publish there own content?

With it being myself writing up the script who better would know how to put my life and career into wikipedia other than myself?

Kind Regards Joe Calladine — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joerosso1982 (talkcontribs) 19:26, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Writing your own autobiography at Wikipedia is strongly discouraged. It is very difficult to maintain a neutral point of view when writing about yourself. That being said, no, I cannot provide you with the deleted contents, as I am not an administrator. Since Nawlinwiki (talk · contribs) was the administrator who actually deleted your article (and provided you with a fairly detailed rationale for his action) you should contact him, or any other administrator listed here to see about restoring the content. Eugene Tsui's Page[edit]

Hello,

I am an intern for Dr. Eugene Tsui, He asked me to fix his Wikipedia page, He feels his page was shortened and says that the information that was put up there was falsified. I feel like some of his text is a bit lengthy, but I don't think his Bio should be completely removed and redirected to his Ultima Tower page. I am wondering if you can give me any advice that I can relay to Dr. Tsui?

Dr. Tsui also asked me to relay a few questions which are included below. Thank you in advance for anything you can answer.

I hope you have a great Day,

1) The site presented information that was true and information that people have asked about, in lectures, television interviews, publications and classrooms throughout the world, for 30 years. Testamonials given prove this fact.

2) The information has been globally published or televised for decades and was referenced, on the site, in numerous publications and televised interviews. What's their issue?

3) What is it about the site that they have qualms with? Everything is factual and can be corroborated by numerous persons and publications.

4) The site is supposed to be about me, Eugene Tssui, and not about my work, necessarily. They seem to always refer to certain work examples that are far afield from me, as a person, which is what the site is about.

5) What are their issues?

Dr Tsui's wikki page means a lot to him. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As Dr. Tsui's intern, you have a conflict of interest regarding this subject, and should exercise great care in writing about him. The material you added to his biography was entirely promotional and inappropriate. Dr. Tsui appears to be notable for only one thing: a grandiose and unrealistic design idea that generated some press at the time of its publication. If you can assert proof of notability aside from this design, please do so on the appropriate talk page. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 06:07, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have restored a minimal biography of Dr. Tsui based on coverage of his other designs (notably the coverage in The Monthly magazine). I am not convinced that an architect should be notable for creating designs that no one can build (hell, my 11 yr old daughter can do that) -- architects need to create designs that actually can be built. However, clearly, I am not the sole arbiter of notability.
I would urge Ktrmrider9785 (talk · contribs) to leave this article alone, based on his stated conflict of interest. If facts need to be corrected, a note of that on the article's talk page will suffice to get the matter addressed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:54, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You![edit]

Dan is a good man! Thank you for your help and patience with my nomination! I was going to do 3 others but want to maybe try in the sandbox first or see if others nominate first. Amazing how much not needed stuff is on here though....

Well, there's a difference between "not needed" and inappropriate. Wikipedia has lots of storage; they aren't likely to run out of room anytime soon, so if a subject meets the criteria for inclusion, it is appropriate, whether or not it is "needed." One man's dessert is another man's staple. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:31, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

yes that is right, you are a philosopher! I had mean criteria for inclusion, for video game stuff it must have reliable sources and we can use the google custom search to find if there are any. So basically I was saying there are a bunch of articles where the google custom search shows nothing for reliable sources but still yet there they are on wikipedia! Why is Big Lo considered promotional?[edit]

If I do more reserch on him can I make the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tedakaemod (talkcontribs) 02:28, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Big Lo article was considered promotional because it copied the artist's bio directly from his own web page. Artists create web pages to promote themselves -- a perfectly legitimate activity. However, the same text used at Wikipedia is not legitimate because Wikipedia is not here to promote anything. You may rewrite the article in your own words, relying on independent reliable sources. However, if you are unable to find such sources, and can only rely on Big Lo's own website for source material, this may indicate that this artist does not meet the criteria for inclusion at Wikipedia. Ned Stewart[edit]

If you have the copy of the newspaper clip, then the proper way to cite the clip is to list the author, the title of the article, the name of the newspaper, and the date on which the article appeared.
Williams, Jim (January 24, 2013) "Ned Stewart today". Rodeo Times
However, a single newspaper clip from a small local paper probably is not sufficient to indicate that Stewart meets the criteria for inclusion. You would also need verification that he won all of the awards that you listed. Finally, the article appears to have been deleted because it was copied directly from Stewart's own website, which is a violation of Wikipedia's copyright guidelines. Aurasonic Page[edit]

In terms of Grammy consideration for Gil Evans- According to the "Engineer GRAMMY Award Eligibility Crediting Definitions" package,

"Eligible Engineer Credits Include -Engineer This person is present in the recording studio or at the location recording and is responsible for the process of recording and/or mixing a project as well as technical issues and decisions. He or she operates (or oversees the operation of) the equipment during the recording process and makes creative and aesthetic choices in order to realize the sound and concepts the artist and producer envision. -Recording Engineer Same as Engineer, except this person is not necessarily involved in final mixing. -Recorded By Same as Engineer except that this person is not necessarily involved in final mixing. -Mixed By This person is responsible for taking previously recorded tracks and creating a mixdown of the original separate tracks to create a finished product (either stereo or multi-channel) that can then be mastered and distributed. -Mixer Same as “Mixed By” -Mix Engineer Same as “Mixed By”"

http://www.allmusic.com/album/bud-bird-mw0000196544/credits JLurie12 (talk) 20:23, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that Steve Remote's name does not appear in the Grammy Database for the recordings I removed is troubling, but I will accept your definition that the recording engineer may well receive a Grammy certificate for his role in a Grammy-winning album. However, this change, reintroducing the material about Aura Sonic's mobile units, is unverifiable from independent sources and promotional. Wikipedia is not here to be Aura Sonic's website, and as such, a complete list of the equipment it uses is irrelevant to the encyclopedic content of the article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:44, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Aura Sonic Page[edit]

Hi WikiDan61.

I totally understand why you would think the equipment list would prove to be promotional. I have since removed the equipment lists.

The inclusion of the past and present mobile units is used as a visual showing the progress of recording vehicles from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. These pictures and descriptions add depth to the article.

I have based this article on the wikipedia page for Lamborghini, which has a visual history of the company's vehicles. The idea behind showing the vehicles is to allow the viewer to understand the progress in technology.

In regards to the Gil Evans record, I will mention that ASL was involved, but "Grammy Winning" as per the database information.

Best,

JLurie12 (talk) 22:07, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"The only facts in this article that can be verified from reliable sources are that Aura Sonic was founded in 1977([1]) and that owner Steve Remote has received one TEC Award([2]) and has been the recording engineer on one Grammy-winning album.([3]). Based on the awards, Remote might meet the criteria for inclusion (although mere listings in directories would probably not be sufficient to build an article around). But there is a clear lack of independent sources on which to build an article about Aura Sonic."

WikiDan61,

I am not quite understanding how only the founding year and the awards are the only substantiated parts of this article. There are live broadcasts and artists recorded that have proper, neutral citations. There is certainly enough information and independent sourcing for this to be a useful part of this wiki encyclopedia.   • Dave Brubek, which is cited with this reference, but that reference fails to mention Aura Sonic or Steven Remote at all;
  • Esperanza Spalding, which is cited with this reference which at least mentions AuraSonic, if only in passing, but does not indicate that this particular live appearance was a notable event in that artist's career or that AuraSonic performed any work of note;
  • and many others including a long list of notable musicians, citing the company's own website and the credited discography of Steven Remote at discogs, the first of which is not a valid source (it is not independent) and the second of which does not really indicate that Aura Sonic was involved at all (it lists the credits for Remote, not the company), nor does it really indicate any notability.
In summary, there are a lot of claims of notability in this article, but all that is really shown is that Steven Remote is a hard-working busy recording engineer, not that he or his company are really notable. Show us some signs of significant coverage in independent media, and you might make your point. In any case, the entire section on "Mobile Units" is unverified and promotional. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:47, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dan- The claims are not notable recordings of notable musicians, but instead of selected acts recorded with the individual trucks. If you follow the Dave Brubek cite, you will indeed find Aura Sonic credited- please look again. Also, it is a reference to the performances being tracked inside the mobile unit. The entire mobile unit section is simply a visual history, with most of the trucks being defunct. I am happy to take down the link to the company website or any other information that might seem promotional. I truly believe there is a difference between informative and promotional in this situation. There is an entire community of audio specialists who can learn from this information. Historic, cited, substantiated events occured in these vehicles. Grammy Award winning albums were created in these vehicles and there is a clear lack of information on this subject on wikipedia. I would love to come to a consensus to make this work.JLurie12 (talk) 21:34, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dan- I am adding more offline magazine articles (independant media) featuring Aura-Sonic (significant coverage). If you would like I can send you a scanned copy of the articles for your better understanding. JLurie12 (talk) 19:15, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have scanned some articles that feature Aura Sonic and would like to send them to you. JLurie12 (talk) 21:08, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I would really like to send you the scanned articles in order for the Aura Sonic page to be taken off the consideration for deletion list. Please let me know how I can get those to you 100.2.132.58 (talk) 22:37, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sending me the articles will not help. If you can cite the articles by publication, date and author, do so within the article itself. Sources do not need to be available online -- they only need to be available to someone willing to do the search to retrieve them (i.e. from library archives, etc.). WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:24, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have added citations for the mobile units, broadcasts, awards and artists. Other users have also edited to writing to be more of wikipedia spec. There is proof of significant coverage considering articles have been written about the company from 1977 - 2013. Please consider these updates when evaluating the credibility, neutrality and significance of this article. Please let me know additional changes that would need to be made to ensure the staying power of this article.JLurie12 (talk) 22:36, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The corrections to the Aura Sonic article have been made and the discussion for deletion is non existent at this point. Can you please let me know what further edits/changes have to be made. If not, can you please take down the nomination for deletion. It has been up for almost 2 weeks. I hope the current edits are to your satisfaction, and I do understand the need to make sure there is truth, relevance and a reference for these articles.JLurie12 (talk) 04:46, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

White Noise[edit]

Sorry to bother you but that was a minor edit which means I'm trying to figure out how to add information without using social sites since I'm in a high school but I'm not going to complain about it, I'm just desperate to get some actually info from Milkstone Studios about the game and they haven't replied to me about it please help.--Indienews (talk) 18:07, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This was not a minor change. You added an entire section about "Critical Reception" for the game based on your own experience -- what you've heard people say about the game. That is not acceptable. Critical reception sections should cite actual game critics. And this is an encyclopedia: language like "People ... kinda view "White Noise a Tale of Horror" as a rip-off" is both more informal than acceptable, and is also potentially libelous. Getting information from the game's producer won't help, as that will be considered a primary source, and not reliable for Wikipedia purposes. If you can't find any published third-party reviews of the game, perhaps it doesn't meet the criteria for inclusion and should be deleted. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:15, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not God, second I will check the links you put in your paragraph to see how bad I just messed up and third the game White Noise a Tale of Horror is barley thriving, it doesn't even has its own wiki since I tried to type it in to see if there was one. I'm new to Wikipedia but not to wiki I'm sorry if I just violated something but on here I'm just a noob not a pro like you.--Indienews (talk) 18:29, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK. No harm, no foul. I presumed by your name that you were an established reviewer of indie games. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:33, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Something like that im trying my best to get indie games recognized, before i made an account i edited the Castleminer Z page on wikipedia when it said it was version 1.4.5 then i changed it to version 1.5.1 this was no guess, i played the game Castleminer Z since it first came out. White Noise a tale of horror somewhat became a good game made from Milkstone Studios but since the Name of the game wasn't known Globally yet i decided to add a page in an attempt to give that game a purpose. Truthfully im not a actual Established Reviewer im just a Serious yet Fanatic gamer that wants to tell other gamers that there is a game out there you might or might like...sorry i was mad yesterday but to avoid yelling at you i logged off and vented my frustration at a game of Fallout New vegas.--Indienews (talk) 12:46, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a forum to get things recognized, but rather an encyclopedia to document those things that have already been recognized. If there are no sources of information about a game, other than your own personal experience with the game, then the game probably does not merit a Wikipedia page. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:17, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nice going with the edit on White Noise a Tale of Horror, Despite myself having Bad grammer all i could do now is praise it that someone else other then me can help the page in its Neutral Point of view along with Critical Reception ( Still Cant find that 0_0 ) but you do know what i am saying right?--Indienews (talk) 16:24, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

NYU-Poly[edit]

I know there are two articles on the same subject, but the other one is seriously messed up. After I am done editing the one I created, I assure you that I will redirect the messed up one to the new one.--Widetimed (talk) 22:57, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously messed up is not a reason for violating policy and creating a duplicate article. If the initial page is "seriously messed up" then you open a discussion to fix it. Simply creating a new article and then redirecting the old article to the new violates Wikipedia's policy of attribution. I note that the original page is protected due to persistent vandalism. I would perceive this effort to create a new page as a continuation of that vandalism. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 23:00, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That is not the case. I created this one because I cannot edit the other one at the moment. Besides, the other one also needs to be renamed.--Widetimed (talk) 23:04, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you can't edit it because of persistent vandalism. When the protection has been lifted, perhaps you will be allowed to edit it then. But the answer to a protected page is not to create a duplicate somewhere else. There is a {{db-a10}} template for a reason: because such pages violate policy and are candidates for speedy deletion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 23:13, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lugia2453 removed the speedy deletion template, which they have a perfect right to do. Anyone other than the article's creator can delete a speedy deletion tag. Please don't edit war to re-add the template. RNealK (talk) 23:18, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fine. Lugia removed the template for invalid reasons, but I suppose we'll have to take it to AFD now. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 23:18, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Is it possible to solve it peacefully?--Widetimed (talk) 23:20, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Taking it to AfD would resolve it. RNealK (talk) 23:21, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Widetimed: The peaceful solution would have been to discuss the issue at Talk:List of NYU Polytechnic Institute people, as I informed you earlier. You were informed several times that removing the CSD template was a violation of the Wikipedia deletion process. Because a third party intervened, the article will now be discussed at AFD. I found part of a Discovery documentary about him ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2CgZygrM9Q ) and some magazine articles pdfs ( http://www.shaolin-wushu.it/outsidemag.pdf ). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaolininfo (talkcontribs) 11:52, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand what the continuing issue or confusion is, at the press book page already linked ( http://www.shaolin-wushu.it/press.htm ) there are dozens of articles about him as can be clearly seen from the photos, with publication date, magazine name (some very notable like For Men, Mens Health, etc). I don't understand what stronger independent supporting material there can be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaolininfo (talkcontribs) 15:15, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The continuing issue is that an AFD discussion was started, and must be allowed to run to its conclusion. Other editors than I have weighed in at the AFD and questioned the validity of the cited sources in demonstrating this athlete's notability. Posting a message on my talk page will not affect the outcome of the discussion; all discussion should be relegated to the AFD page. Also, do not remove the AFD notice from the article. The administrator who closes the discussion will either remove the notice or delete the article, but the notice must remain until the discussion is complete. Gary Blake[edit]

I stumbled upon your exchange with the creator of the Gary Blake article. An obvious conflict of interest, but I have no connection to the man; I am only a fan of his work. The editor with whom you spoke could have done a better job searching, even a quick Google search gave me some more sources. If you have the time, could you take a look at the article and assess the sources? Could you comment on the notability of the subject based on the most recent version? I think the subject is notable but I could be wrong, and given that it was once nominated for prod I think it should be reviewed again just to be sure. MezzoMezzo (talk) 11:07, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The sources still are mostly primary sources, either links to the subject's own website or links to books he has written. There are a few minor mentions of him in passing in the other articles (quoting him as an "expert in the field" -- the type of thing that reporters do to verify their writing but that does not lend any actual notability to the subject). What is needed is at least one, preferably two or three, significant articles about Blake or the impact of his work. Reviews of his work showing that he has had a significant impact in his field would also help. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:37, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm...you're right about what's up there so far. Not to give up but simply to be honest, I'm not sure if that will be possible for this individual. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying I don't know. I will try and if I exhaust everything, would the next step be AfD?
Anyway in the meantime, I will try to find an article about Blake instead of articles simply quoting him. I'll see if I can find a review specifically commenting in his influence and not solely on the book as well. MezzoMezzo (talk) 03:19, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: White Noise[edit]

True, i should of just said it that way instead of making it a game guide but how am I going to find the amount of sales it has if my iPad is restricted from every form of social networking.--Indienews (talk) 15:47, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How you find your sources is your issue. If you are not able to find sufficient sources because your iPAD is restricted from social media, perhaps that is not the best platform from which to edit this article. If you don't have access to any other computer from which to edit, then editing Wikipedia may not be the best use of your time for now. That may sound harsh, but there are minimum requirements to do this work, one of which is access to sources from which to write your articles. If the only source you have is what you, yourself know, that is not sufficient. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:50, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's all I can do, I tried searching for anything about sales but so far I'm getting reviews instead of sales --Indienews (talk) 16:02, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews (from legitimate sources) would be useful too, to show that the game has widespread reception. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:11, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I got one review from Screwattack.com talking about the game but i don't know if its in Neutral Point of view or not so im really hesistant about putting it in the white noise: a tale of horror page's reception?--Indienews (talk) 15:21, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As long as screwattack.com is not associated with the game's developers, you can quote it. Positive reviews are fine -- the requirement for neutrality is not extended to quoted reviews. However, sources for all articles should be reliable. I am not able to assess this particular source (my employer blocks gaming pages) so I have no idea whether it is a reliable source, or some guy blogging out of his basement. Add the review, with the source, and either I (when I'm not at my office) or some other editor can evaluate the source and determine if it should be kept. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:38, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I finally got the reception done for the page and a reference (not very effective) but it has to suffice till there are better refrences to find for it --Indienews (talk) 17:55, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: English please[edit]

As to the translation notice you just left at User talk:Sow28mi, did you know that there are also some bilingual templates that point editors to their native language Wikipedias? E.g. I have now added {{contrib-ta1}} at that talk page. I find those templates very useful and I use to place both {{uw-notenglish}} and one of the "contrib" templates, because people who write a non-English article here may not even know a sufficient amount of English to read our standard English messages. For future use you might want to look at the "contrib" templates in Category:Non-English user warning templates. Cheers, De728631 (talk) 14:08, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I don't speak Spanish. If you have been blocked in the Spanish Wikipedia, the proper response is not to come to the English Wikipedia and repeat the same offenses (especially since you don't seem capable of communicating in English). The proper response is to communicate with the administrators at the Spanish Wikipedia and attempt to get unblocked there. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:07, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:07, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have no doubt that G-Marl Jamal is a real act. I just doubt that he is a notable act. To demonstrated notability, one would have to show evidence of significant coverage in reliable, third party sources. I do not see any such evidence.
  1. Bebe Cool is a notable act; but Jamal's opening for him is not necessarily notable (and not necessarily verified by the cited source: a Burundi blog site that posted a YouTube video claiming to be Jamal at the Bebe Cool concert, but which could have been just about anything).
  2. Jamal's movies may be local Australian fare, but as such, they have not garnered sufficient press to indicate that Jamal is notable for having appeared in them.
Jamal is perfectly free to keep doing what he is doing. The existence (or lack of existences) an an article about him here at Wikipedia should not help or hinder his career.
Since the article has been nominated for deletion, any further comments on the matter should be directed to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/G-Marl Jamal. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!!

Hi THere.. 1.if You Look in The Video that Burundi blog posted at the end...BEBE COOL COMES IN (You can see him there if you know his image) he is real 2. when You look in the Abc and the electronic Pictures site i provided about the films You can see they don't even talk about the main characters,They only talk about writers and directors.. Please let's Understand Each other,i have spend more time trying to create this article and i pretty much wont be happy if you remove it but how i will google G-Marl Jamal and see if i can find more his references But how here is one picture where he as at THE MANUSCRIPT Movie Premier https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=588734874479576&set=t.100001002996606&type=1&theater

You are clearly not reading and understanding the requirements of significant coverage presented at the notability guideline. Bring proof of entire articles in legitimate sources written about this subject. Not just passing mentions, or videos or photos that are posted with little or no comment. Once you can do that, you might have a chance. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 03:49, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Response from User:Holaema NPOV Applied Kinesiology[edit]

The main reason that I offered this flag was not to dispute the factual information already in place, but that basic content about AK and Clinical Kinesiology theory and methods is lacking, and that this lack contributes to the article's overall taste as biased in conjunction with the particular placement and use of parenthesis and words/phrases that add a negative connotation, rather than straight-forward facts. The statements in the opening paragraph are certainly informative, however would they not be more appropriately placed in the 'Criticism' section? The use of parenthesis in the History and Current use section, regarding ICAK also seems unnecessary, and meant to express the author's option about the nature of the organization, its people and activities - i.e. "certified", "diplomats". I could also be reading into this, but as a common wikipedia viewer, I am probably not the only person to process the use of punctuation as a method to maintain a tone of opinionated skepticism. Also see: "The essential premise of applied kinesiology, which is not shared by mainstream medical theory..." - this phrase seems unnecessary, and further reinforces, what appears to be the overall slant of the article. These are a few examples of why I placed the NPOV. I think the content already in place has the potential to read and inform in a more expansive way through reorganization and with additions to the text.

L. Z. Sova[edit]

Dear colleague, I have read your opinion about "Analytical Linguistics" (1970! and 2012) by L. Z. Sova and have written an article with another connotation "Analytical Linguistics by L. Z. Sova", because I think that it speaks about new science with its own theories, methods and results, very important for development of the theory of artificial intelligence. I ask you to see a new version of my article. It's pity, I don't find it in wiki. But I can send it to you when you have an interest to these problems. Best regards, Kukareku123 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kukareku123 (talkcontribs) 10:37, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your article on Analytical lingtuistics was deleted as the result of a discussion that found that the term was overly broad. While Sova's work in the field is notable (and has been noted at her article), she did not invent analytical linguistics, she merely create one particular analytical technique that she called analytical linguistics. Others before and after her have used that term to define other techniques, and the different techniques are all too disparate to encompass under a single article. not to deleted my page "Propeller clock"[edit]

hi,

In my point of view most of the people .mostly students search the word "propeller clock" instead of "persistence of vision" to use it for their projects.so my page would help them a lot in this matter. even i have given link of your page "persistence of vision" so they would also visit it for more details... think over it — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hasifast (talkcontribs) 18:22, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I agree with your logic about what most people would search for. However, if you believe that "Propeller clock" is a valid search term, then you should create a redirect from that target to Persistence of vision#Persistence of Vision Displays. However, what you did create is a how-to guide on how to build one particular version of such a device, and this is not the purpose of Wikipedia. L. Z. Sova[edit]

Dear WikiDan, Thank you for your letter. First, the article "L. Z. Sova". All materials from personal archives of L. Z. Sova, excepting of the copies of her certificates and diplomas, are published in her books "Analytical linguistics and typology", "Africanistics and evolutional linguistics", "Linguistics of synthesis" and "Studies in Zulu" (in Russian) in the special sections "From personal archives" and "Scientific life" of these books. Everybody can read these materials. There are the copies of the most diplomas in the archives of ILI RAN. I don't know if the Russian Academy of Sciences gives the permission to use its archives for strangers, but it is possible to read it for the scientific society of Russia. If it's unsuitable for Wiki, I can all these materials change. For me it's not principal matter.

Second, an article "Analytical linguistics by L. Z. Sova". You are right that the term "analytical linguistics" is used by another persons in another meaning. But only L. Z. Sova formulated new methods of the construction of linguistic theory for elements-duals and realized it in practice to built uncontradictory universal theory of the development of linguistic concepts. She showed how to built the model of the linguistic intelligence and, on the base of this theory, described structurally different languages, such as Russian and Zulu (cf. the list of monographs of L. Z. Sova and a big list of reviews and discussions about this new science in philology). In the USSR there were big problems with Sova' theories, because of their "anti-marksismus", etc. But now there is possible to develop a new science. I am 75 years old, and I would like to know that the works of L. Z. Sova are well-known not only in Russia. Help me, please.

Excuse me, please, for my English.

Thank you. Best regards. Kukareku123Kukareku123 (talk) 18:39, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If the materials "from the personal archive" are published in Sova's texts, then the text and the pages within the text should be cited, not the personal archives. As for the topic of Analytical Linguistics -- I will admit that her work is very likely impressive (not being a linguist or even much of a mathematician, I'd be hard pressed to evaluate the work), but that is not the point. Your treatment of the subject (both in the standalone article that was deleted and in the section within the L. Z. Sova article) was overly detailed, essentially reproducing her paper. The point of a Wikipedia article is to treat a subject at the level that will be understood and of interest to a general audience, not to produce or reproduce scholarly journal articles. The brief mention that I have left regarding the overall concept and importance of Sova's thesis seems to be sufficient for the lay reader. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:48, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Colleague! Thank you for your beautiful work. I like your version of "L. Z. Sova" very much. Excuse me, but I think that some formulations are not correct. Analytical Linguistics is not a technic, its a theory of methods and technic as well as of means of its application (if I understand right the word "technic"). I tried to reformulate it. I also corrected the sense of translation the sources (Judakin) and added your formulation of sphere of application of Anli. Besides, I tried to correlate your edition to my previous references (there is no coincidence between two texts). I checked something about a half of an article. Thank you very much again. Dear Kukareku,
Given your limited command of English, as well as your limited command of Wikipedia formatting an syntax, I would recommend that you allow experienced editors to edit the article. Any changes you feel might be necessary can be suggested in the talk page. I note that your recent additions have added many "references" that are not actually referenced in the article, while removing the actually valid citations I had inserted in the text. As for the nature of Sova's "Analytical Linguistics", I will defer to you as I have no knowledge in this field. However, your description as a "theory of methods and technique" is nonsense -- those words have no actual meaning. I believe you mean to say that Sova's Analytical Linguistics is a method of analysis. I'll look into the article to see if we can get that worded correctly. DJ, MC, whatever you wish to call them, a single brief sentence is insufficient to establish their notability, or even in many cases, to provide context for other editors to expand on the articles. And the problem with your expansion of List of jungle and drum and bass emcees is that you added many links to non-existent articles, or links to articles not about the MCs themselves, but about other subjects that happened to have the same name (such as Verb or Aftershock). Garland R. Hunt[edit]

I actually have no idea what you mean by "promotional." I'm not selling anything. And you wrote me just yesterday directing me to move my content to my user page, and today you say I'm promoting myself?! It's simply an overview of my career highlights. For whatever reason I'm being singled out and I've had enough. It's a freaking Wikipedia page, and the whole process is needlessly complicated and convoluted.

I'm done with Wikipedia and won't be making any further donations either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.87.128.181 (talk) 22:37, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Although the above IP editor's only contribution is this note on my talk page, I presume that it is reference to this comment that I left on User talk:Garland R. Hunt.
To clarify, I never advised Mr. Hunt to move the content of Garland R. Hunt (an article created by Garland R. Hunt (talk · contribs) and containing substantially the same content as User:Garland R. Hunt (as of this version)) to his user page. I actually specifically advised against that on Talk:Garland R. Hunt (now deleted) in replying to the contested deletion note placed there. At the time, Mr. Hunt argued that the article shouldn't be deleted because it was intended to be his own user page, but I advised then, as I later advised on User talk:Garland R. Hunt, that the material was inappropriate for a user page as it appears to be Mr Hunt's detailed resume, which is not the proper use of Wikipedia user pages.
As a personal note to Mr. Hunt: I'm sorry if your initial experience with Wikipedia has been unpleasant. Unfortunately, many important and notable people come to Wikipedia and, seeing that there is no article about themselves, think to write it themselves. This is strongly discouraged, and such autobiographies almost always end up deleted or so extensively altered as to be unrecognizable to the author/subject. It is a much better idea to request an article, stating briefly (in one sentence, preferably) why an article should exist. In your case, Mr. Hunt, your leadership of the Prison Fellowship likely does make you notable and you probably should have an article about yourself here at Wikipedia; just not the one you wrote. Given your position, and your knowledge of prison conditions and prisoners' rights, etc., I believe you have much to offer the Wikipedia community, writing about topics that you know rather than writing about yourself. I, for one, hope you change your mind and choose to stay and participate. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:43, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

April Alisa Marquette[edit]

WikiDani61 -- I am a bit on-line illiterate and do not find Wikipedia that user friendly, although you are probably like, what's the problem? ;-) So that I am getting this right, is April Alisa Marquette references that we attempted not independent references Wikipedia will accept, or is that we did not insert them correctly? Thank you, RobertJosiah11372 (talk) 17:34, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The references you added were all to independent blogs, which are not considered reliable sources because there is no oversight of the editorial policy. Basically, a review at a blog basically means that one person (the blog owner) read and liked the book. A review at a reliable source (such as Kirkus Reviews, the American Library Association, or (even better) a major newspaper such as The New York Times, The Boston Globe, etc) indicates that an editor, faced with the choice of reviewing hundreds of books a month, chose to spend precious column inches on this book, which indicates it is a book the world might want to know about. It also indicates that the review has been through an editorial review to assure (to some degree at least) factual accuracy and independence. Your translation of this term as white half is somewhat inaccurate. A better translation would be "blank semester". The article about G-Marl Jamal was deleted after a deletion discussion because multiple editors agreed that the available sources did not add up to sufficient significant coverage in independent sources to indicate that this artist is notable according to Wikipedia standards. The reason this is important is that we need to verify all facts in an article by citing reliable sources. If insufficient reliable sources are available, we cannot build a verifiable article.
The references you have provided are not evidence of such significant coverage. The first link indicates that a particular blogger happened to catch the act of the Taoboiz, Jamal's former band. So what? A blogger saw a band perform. The second link indicates he released a tune on iTunes, something anyone can do. Again, so what? Your recent addition of unsourced content[edit]

Thank you for your recent good faith edit] to Yasheng Group. You must have reliable secondary sources before adding content like this. So I removed it. Please read WP:RS. (It appears you are an experienced editor, so I struck what I wrote which might appear patronizing.)

This had been discussed at the article talk page, but an anon editor blanked the talk page discussion of their being no sources , then added the content without any reliable secondary sources. This may be why you did not discuss your edit at the talk page. You may also note that the supposed New York Times "source article", has no author, since it is just an advertisement companies can purchase in their business section, and so is not a reliable secondary source.

Thanks. KatieBoundary (talk) 13:22, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Admittedly, some of the claims of the article were unsourced. But your own version was a highly biased version of the facts. Writing about a company saying solely that they claim to be a company is highly biased. Looking at the available sources (and I believe we can accept a company's 10-K filing as reliable, as the SEC does check into these things), I have rewritten the article with facts available, removing any claims of any particular achievements on the part of the company. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:25, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) The New York Times source is not an advertisement. It is a business listing, such as the NYT provides for any company listed on any major exchange. I consider it a reliable source for the information that it presents, as the information is based on the company's own Form 10-K filing, which we can take as reliable based on the consequences to the company for lying in such filings. Sector 06 Rourkela[edit]

Hello Friend if you let me work on this new page named Sector 06 Rourkela as I have created it now, Why this page is redirecting to Rourkela as it is done by you. Please I'm reverting it to normal state.

Thanks

Swarupboserkl (talk) 16:54, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

All you've said about Sector 6 is that it is a place in Rourkela. If you have nothing more to add, there is no point in having the article at all. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:08, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ohh.. How can you say that... I have just created the article some minutes ago with it's template. Since I agree it doesn't have much information. But let me work on it. If you allow me to do so. Thanks. Swarupboserkl (talk) 17:13, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm willing to let the article proceed, but I don't see a lot of hope for it. None of the entries in your template appear to refer to any kind of notable entity. The local landmarks of one neighborhood of a city are not very likely to be notable enough for articles of their own. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:15, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dan - I am just trying to work out how to make contact as first time editor and finding wikipedia a bit of a jungle! Wanted to ask whether my responses to sockpuppetry allegation and also defence of deletion request of the allstars were in the right places and along the right lines?

I totally get and support the rigorous process in place to eliminate false profiles and posts etc, but am just worried that my attempts to 'get involved' have not met with an auspicious start. I would really appreciate if you would take a look at the new references on the allstars and let me know if I am headed in the right direction? If I am not improving matters, I would really appreciate any insight or suggestions.

Many thanks.

Musicfanlondon (talk) 17:05, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, your responses were in the correct place. You have been misusing the {{talkback}} template, however. As to the improvements, I'll let other editors decide that. My own bias is to see the articles deleted, but then there may be others who are more in tune with the London music scene who have a better insight and availability of reliable sources for these articles. As for the sockpuppetry claim, the clerks have means of determining whether anything is afoul. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:57, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dude... At the end you fucked my article Sector 06 Rourkela[edit]

Dude, what is your problem..Are you nut's!!! There are many articles in wiki.. that doesn't match wiki criteria...And you find it mine only..

If I create and edit my own article...about my own place then what the fuck is your problem... You show... fucking barn star's... in wiki.. I don't know.. how it seems.. Without looking to the talk page of Sector 06 Rourkela... you made the article for speedy deletion.

I guess. you don't have any other work. You could have pasted a notification prior to deletion. It seems you will not let me work in my article...

Mr. WikiDan61.. I don't know who are you..And for how many heck year's you are their in wiki...

Please don't touch my article's... I'm trying my best to work on it.. With every proof given.Thanks.Swarupboserkl (talk) 06:47, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are a Dis-motivating Guy!!![edit]

It seems difficult for new editor's like us..in wiki's..

As if you have owned the wiki..And you will try to delete articles...

I need time to work on my articles...

Prior to deletion I have mentioned that I need time.. So you alone decided OKK let's delete it...

Dude.. about this article Sector 06 Rourkela who is seeing it..

I'm been working in wiki's since 2011 and have contributed more than. 50000 edit's and 60 new article creation's. And this one was my new account. Thought I will do some thing good upon my place.

Thanks you did it.. Really Harassing... Swarupboserkl (talk) 06:56, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry if you feel harassed. If so, you are free to enter a complaint against me at the administrator's noticeboard. However, Wikipedia does have standards, and articles that have no substantial content are subject to immediate deletion. (See WP:Criteria for speedy deletion#A2. Rather than tag your article for deletion, I have done what is recommended for articles that the author claims are in progress, but which are not yet ready for publication: I have moved the article to your user space. You are still free to work on it to your heart's delight, and even invite the participation of others to develop it. Again, if you feel that I have acted in bad faith, you are free to take the matter to the proper forum. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:32, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The AllStars[edit]

Hi There I really appreciate your response to me and of course understand your position. Clearly, I am arguing in favour of notability and would like to be able to demonstrate it. I have spent the weekend trying to do a lot of reading about wikipedia notability and can start to understand the gulf that existed between the edits I made and the criteria they should have met. I just wondered if (with your bias towards deletion), you would take another look at the allstars to see if you feel my edits have improved it and start to show notability? Many thanks Musicfanlondon (talk) 19:42, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

regarding Speedy Deletion Tag on Good Morning Turkey[edit]

Hi

I would like to request for removal of speedy deletion tag from the Good Morning Turkey content. The content is a credible content since the newspapers content is provided by it's editors and major news agencies all around the world. Example of similar content pages in Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Today%27s_Zaman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%BCrriyet_Daily_News_and_Economic_Review http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journal_of_Turkish_Weekly

Sincerely — Preceding unsigned comment added by Berkaydemirkan (talkcontribs) 14:41, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the site's Alexa data, it is ranked below 350,000 globally, and below 120,000 in Turkey! (Its rank in the US is around 51,000, but I suspect that is largely due to this Wikipedia article and people trying to figure out what it's about.) The site receives over 96% of its traffic from the US, and only 2.7% of its traffic from Turkey. Combine that with the fact that I could find no mentions of this site in any meaningful independent sources, and all of this together indicates to me that this is not a significant source of information for the Turkish people, and that the site is not a notable website, either domestically or internationally. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:48, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply, If you read the About Us section on the website you'd see the website is not for the Turkish people, it's mainly for foreigners who is related with Turkey, Business, Politics or personal relations. It's one of the few online newspapers publishes on other than Turkish language. I'll edit the article in this extend. Considering the age and the targeted audience, the given numbers from Alexa is not that bad, and it's increasing everyday. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Berkaydemirkan (talkcontribs) 15:11, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
"Increasing every day" means the site may become notable. But not yet. And given that you appear to be the sites editor-in-chief, you should carefully read Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:18, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thinking on your judgement for"notable", what makes you think it is not? Yes, I read Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline, and there is a conflict of interest but as it says on "Escape, disclosure or management" section, it can be managed, please read through the article again you'd realize it's been written with plain language without any bias word or advertorial words, and if there is May I ask you to edit it, instead of deleting all... If every editor just deletes the pages there wouldn't be a Wikipedia... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Berkaydemirkan (talkcontribs) 15:32, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I judge your site not notable (and it is my judgement, as an individual, so take it for what it is worth) because I find no indication that your site has made any significant impact. There is no coverage of it in independent sources, and its traffic rank is so low that it does not appear to be a major source of information for anyone. The reason I note the conflict of interest is that as the site's editor, your own opinion as to its notability might be clouded by your own passion for your work. No doubt to you the site is the most important thing in the world (as it should be), but to the rest of the world, not so much. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:23, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Last time I checked Wikipedia doesn't concern traffic rank, it concerns the article describes the site in an encyclopedic manner. You say "There is no coverage of it in independent sources", that's totally false information and it's I guess coming from your "clouded" fear of being wrong, I suggest you to check WP:BITE policy. Since with the links below proves that the websites notability considering some of them are biggest websites in the world I request if you can remove the deletion notice once again.

Quinn Bard[edit]

You state that Quinn is a non-notable actor. In reality his performance is very note worthy, not only is this his debut film, but the entire film revolves around his character. The film is far from small, it received its funding from Sundance and stars: Margo Martindale an emmy award winning actress, John Slattery of Mad Men, Emily Meade and Louisa Krause, all far from "small." 184.74.93.235 (talk) 13:15, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As this article has been nominated for deletion, all comments regarding its retention should be addressed to WP:Articles for deletion/Quinn Bard. Comments should concentrate on facts that are verifiable from reliable sources. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:26, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
PS: As I have read all of the references in the Bluebird article and found not one mention of Bard's name, I have to question his key role in the film. As I understand it, the film revolves around the death of a young child who is inadvertently left in a school bus on a cold winter night, and the effects that death has on the community. While that makes the character a central figure in the film by his absence, it does not make the actor a central figure in the film, as I suspect his role ends quite early in the film. (The preceding is mostly conjecture, and not actually supported by sources, as no sources actually mention Bard by name!) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:33, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

considering you haven't even seen the movie Bluebird your argument is pure speculation. You have no idea what he does, how much he does, etc. In fact he is still in the movie at the end of the film in a very poignant scene. He is also noted as CREDITED in IMDB, actors who do not play a significant role are not credited, they appear as "rest of cast" -- Per Wiki " Comments should concentrate on facts that are verifiable from reliable sources." by your 'assumption" if he were not important he would be "rest of cast" -- considering you havent seen the movie, your argument is mute and pure speculation and your argument is based on your opinion as you haven't seen the film.

Again, I say to you that any arguments you post here regarding the retention of the film are pointless. The place to discuss this issue is at WP:Articles for deletion/Quinn Bard. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:53, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's not my point. You can bang your chest all you want here, and no one but you and I will see it. If you make your point in the correct venue (as I see you have done), you might actually make a difference in the outcome. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:46, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The editor and the Saud article[edit]

History with this editor and another article suggests that they may be, or may be passing themselves off as, the PR team associated with this family. That may or may not be true. In the other article an official version was attempted. The current article looks to me to be puffery rather than a valid article and I have suggested speedy deletion. Your mileage may vary. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 12:38, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your speedy deletion tag. Lacking a valid criterion, an admin may reject your tag. I don't know enough about the Saudi royal family, but I would imagine that any son of the crown prince would at least be notable enough to raise a blip on the internet radar, other than his own website. If you search for the name, you'll find multiple hits to a single article Talal wrote calling for an end to racism in the Middle East, but if you filter out results relating to that single article, his Google hit count falls to about 4. I can't search in Arabic, so sources may be available that I don't have access to, but since the guy claims to be living in England, you'd think there'd be some English press about him. This is what led to my doubt about the factual accuracy of the article. Or are there just so many Saudi royals (these guys do all procreate prolifically) that no one cares any more? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:54, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Point agreed with. I suspect princes there are ten a penny. I was at school with a Nigerian Chief's son, for example, and those are ten a penny. I'm much more concerned about the attempt at puffery. We'll let wiser heads decide it. but if CSD is rejected there is always AfD. The editor is likely to blast everyone in sight with emails anyway. Life was ever thus. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 13:11, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deborah Scroggins[edit]

I noticed that you deleted some of my changes to my Wikipedia page. I didn't know the subjects weren't supposed to edit them. In any case, will you please delete or at least put in past tense the reference to Tony Scott? He is dead. Second, will you mention that I have published another book, "Wanted Women: Faith, Lies and the War on Terror: The Lives of Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Aafia Siddiqui" (HarperCollins, 2012.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deborahscroggins (talkcontribs) 14:08, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done. It is not strictly forbidden to edit your own biography at Wikipedia, just highly discouraged. Your edits added facts about awards won, etc, that were not verified by any citations. Adding such claims to one's own biography is often seen as puffery. If you have sources to verify these awards, mention them at Talk:Deborah Scroggins, or here, and we'll see about adding the facts if the sources are reliable. Note from Tanhausergate[edit]

Thank you very much for your welcome WikiDan61 so kind! I would like to have some librarian to contemporary art arouses interest to write this article objectively. Well I would not want breach the basic pillars of Wikipedia. There are many references to it that may seem "promotional", such as the Silver Anchor Award of the Royal Spanish Navy League in colabroración with Rotarians (http://www.franciscosanchiscortes.es/199734118) from around the world or exposure early in Bavaria (http://www.franciscosanchiscortes.es/199734114) and the Principality of Monaco, is why we urge you to guide my steps on this path so interesting that is involved in writing articles. A very warm greeting! Tanhausergate (talk) 19:51, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tanhausergate,
This may seem a bit harsh, but I would not recommend that you continue to edit the Francisco Sanchis Cortés article. It is clear from your note above that English is not your native tongue, and that you do not possess sufficient literacy in English to provide a meaningful article. Perhaps you would do better to create the article on the Wikipedia of your native tongue, and then someone with better command of English can provide a translation of the page you create.
