Yigal Arnon & Co.[edit]

Dear WikiDan61,

We received your message regarding our firm's Wikipedia page, and your editing (deleting) it as it seems to be "promotional advertising".

We are surprised at your view of the content we uploaded, as well as at the measure you took regarding our page.

The content we uploaded is similar in character to the content that many other law firms post on Wikipedia. We would like to point your attention to pages uploaded by other law firms in Israel such as:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herzog,_Fox_%26_Ne%27eman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldfarb_Seligman_%26_Co. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S._Horowitz_%26_Co.

As well as international firms such as: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linklaters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooley_LLP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skadden,_Arps,_Slate,_Meagher_%26_Flom http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norton_Rose_Fulbright

In fact, many of the law firms in this Wikipedia list have Wikipedia pages similar to the one we uploaded - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_100_largest_law_firms_by_revenue

We would also like to point out that in other cases where a Wikipedia editor believed content to be promotional, they allowed for the contributor to adjust and amend the content so that it suits Wikipedia regulations, such as in this case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holland_%26_Knight

As one of the leading law firms in Israel, we would like to have a Wikipedia page, as do other leading law firms, and we request that the observation of Wikipedia guidelines and rules is equally enforced on all users. We would very much appreciate it if you could point us to the differences in content between the above mentioned pages and the content that we started uploading to Wikipedia and was edited. In case our content was mistakenly edited, please undo the edits.

Thank you. Cynthia Leffler CynthiaLeffler (talk) 08:00, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@CynthiaLeffler: You appear to misunderstand the nature of Wikipedia. We're building an encyclopedia here, not a business directory. If other pages are overly promotional, that's only because no one has gotten around to fixing it. I reverted your changes because your edits were blatantly promotional. The fact that you are surprised at this determination is distressing. If you can't see that phrases such as:
  • one of the most respected and dynamic law firms in Israel, with a proven track record of innovation and quality in meeting its clients’ needs
  • Throughout our history, clients has turned to Yigal Arnon & Co. when seeking professionalism, service and integrity in helping them to resolve complex and challenging legal problems.
  • Clients select us and stay with us for our comprehensive legal skills.
  • We are also selected for our good business judgment.
  • widely-recognized solution-driven and proactive corporate practice
  • (I could go on -- those are just from the first three paragraphs!)
are overtly promotional, then I may not be able to help. Wikipedia articles are not intended to reflect the company's own opinion of themselves, but are rather intended to reflect a neutral presentation of the facts about the company as can be verified by citations to reliable sources. People associated with the company are discouraged from editing the article due to the inherent conflict of interest involved. If you feel there are issues in the present version of the article that need to be addressed, you are encouraged to request changes at the article's talk page. Disambiguation link notification for March 11[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mental breakdown, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Depression. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I'm torn over what to do with this. It's not really a blatant speedy in my view as there is one (but only one) reliable source at present, and a broadsheet newspaper could review the first show next Monday, thus suddenly making it meet GNG before the 7 day grace period on a PROD or AfD is up. Two other options are to move to draft space, or merge and redirect with Leicester Square. What do you think? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:10, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Ritchie333: I'd go with the PROD for now. If the review shows up within the next 7 days, then the issue will be resolved and the PROD can be removed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:16, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've stuck a PROD on. The creator had a blatant COI, so I have directed him towards some advice about that. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:21, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have unreviewed a page you curated[edit]

@Wikicology: Huh? I tagged it for speedy deletion. Twinkle automatically marks it as reviewed as part of the tagging process. What's the problem? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:00, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No worries Dan! I guess it was a systemic error. I'm aware that you reviewed the page but to my intrusive shock, the page was not tagged appropriately, so I unreviewed the page and when i tagged it, I got a notification that it was previously tagged for deletion. Dear WikiDan61, I have no intent to violate any copyright of any kind. That was a good compilation and I always advise my students to read that page. When I realised it wasn't there any more and after learning I could take it back, I did it. If I'd known that it violated anything, I would not do it. I'm a new one in Wikipedia. I think you could also research about my date of joining to the community, since you're the researcher type.

Before arriving any conclusion, you could simply ask! This aggresive behaviour was totally unnecessary!!!! And by the way, only having done only one thing on wikipedia, doesnt prove anthing. So you can do whatever with that entry and satisfy your ego in any (quick) way you want! have a nice day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aysedune (talkcontribs) 22:19, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aysedune, you could have simply read and adhered to the large and clearly stated instructions on the template you removed, which said "Do not restore or edit the blanked content on this page until the issue is resolved by an administrator, copyright clerk, or OTRS agent." It's a bit hard to understand how you could have seen and decided to remove the template without noticing these very clear instructions, no matter how new you are to Wikipedia. Mmyers1976 (talk) 02:41, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Aysedune: What action of mine are you complaining about? The fact that reverted your restoration of the copyrighted material, in direct violation of the very clear warning message that was left on the page telling you not to do that; or the fact that I then informed you of the problem. There is no question of "asking" about copyright violation. They are to be dealt with quickly. Your copyright violation was dealt with, and then you "un"dealt with it, so I reverted that change. That was not aggressive, merely following Wikipedia guidelines. And the warning I placed on your user talk page was clear and definitive, but also not aggressive. I recognized you as a new editor when I came to your user talk page, and I left the clear and direct message that I thought was required under the situation. I didn't accuse you of malevolence; I merely informed you that the action you took was improper. If you feel that I have mistreated you, you are free to take the matter up on any appropriate venue. (WP:Dispute resolution or WP:ANI might be places to start.) I don't feel I have mistreated you, but if you feel mistreated, perhaps a third party needs to evaluate the situation. i had corrected the elements. Thanyou — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScrewHue (talkcontribs) 12:34, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@ScrewHue: No, you really didn't. The template were placed on this article because:
  1. It uses "bare URLs" as references. This is considered a bad idea because as the page remains on Wikipedia for years and years, the web page used as the reference might not remain in its current location. With no information other than a URL to work with, future editors will not be able to search for the information when the present link becomes invalid. Generally we like full citations including the name of the website (or, if the citation is to the online version of a newspaper or magazine, the name of the publication), the name of the person who wrote the information (if available), the date the material was published, the date you accessed it, etc. See Help:Citing sources.
  2. The references are given as a list at the bottom of the page, but they are not linked to the information they verify. In general, references in articles should serve to verify the facts in the article. By linking the citation to the fact (using the <ref>...</ref> syntax), the reader has a better idea of which citations to check to verify which facts.
Until you have resolved these issues, please don't remove the maintenance templates from the article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:43, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@ScrewHue: The templates are fairly clear themselves, including Wikilinks to the relevant Wikipedia policy and guideline pages to help you understand the problem. Furthermore, I have clearly explained the problem in my reply to you in the section immediately preceeding this one. I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Goebbels effect, which you proposed for deletion. Because Goebbels effect indeed have related research(You can click here to verify), so even if Joseph Goebbels did not say those words, it does not mean that the phenomenon does not exist. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! by Lyqwan123 (talk) 12:13, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hups[edit]

@Cyfal: You may find that the PROD is declined. Technically, an article that has once been prodded and had the PROD declined (even by the article's author, for no good reason) may not be PRODded again, and should instead be brought to WP:AFD. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 23:04, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I see... I didn't understand yesterday, that a removal of the PROD tag is sufficent for a decline. I will therefore bring it to WP:AFD. (This will presumably become number one in my private list User:Cyfal/Trivia#Longtime_vandalism_and_other_nonsense...) --Cyfal (talk) 10:56, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyfal: You know there's more to the AFD process than just adding the AFD tag to the article, right? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:08, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm just reading the documentation and performing the necessary steps, please wait... --Cyfal (talk) 11:11, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion - Lithofayne Pridgeon[edit]

I realise that the page I started is a little sparse and seems speculative, but the Guardian article which I used as my source is very reliable and I thought other people might add detail and additional factual information about Lithofayne Pridgeon that was mentioned in it - the Jimmy Hendrix early years page simply refers to her but does not give additional information about her interesting life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marthaphipps96 (talkcontribs) 22:20, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Abdon Atangana[edit]

I do respect your opinion. However I will like you to please suggest me an article about Abdon Atangana. I still believe he deserves recognition for his hard work. I would like to inform you he is only 29 year old and he is the first young African to achieve this in less than 3 years. You can see here what his university think about him.

http://natagri.ufs.ac.za/content.aspx?id=992

Please kindly help me in this, I would like to develop an article about this young African promising researcher. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mboctara (talkcontribs) 19:48, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Mboctara: I'm sorry, I can't help you. I don't believe that Dr. Atangana is an academic whose achievements merit inclusion in Wikipedia. I believe that the link you have provided to his university profile is most likely authored by Atangana himself, or by his department with a view to promoting the university by highlighting the achievements of its faculty. If Atangana's results about the "Atangana-Beta Integral" were so groundbreaking, surely other researchers would have picked up on the matter, but a search of the term in Google Scholar (surely not an exhaustive source, but reasonable) shows that only Atangana himself has used this term, and that no other authors have cited this work. I'm also concerned with the fact that Atangana published 67 papers in 3 years (1.86 papers/month). To me, this shows a certain lack of scrutiny or originality in the work. The fact that the vast majority of citations to Atangana's papers are by Atangana himself is also problematic. All of this was already discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abdon Atangana where mutliple editors concurred with my conclusion that Atangana does not merit inclusion. Perhaps in a few years, when Atangana's work has actually made some impact and other researchers are citing his work, we might find enough material from which to develop an article, but not yet. Cambridge Cognition[edit]

I am new to this and did not realize that pages are not able to be saved until posted, Cambridge Cognition do not make 1 product, there are a number of tests which are in different products and there is further history to be added. It also floats on the stock market so I was hoping I could make the article similar to others I have seen that have the company flotation info included... Is it possible for this page to be 'under construction' and not redirect? I was still pulling all of the details together, so is it best to do this out of wikipedia and copy it in when I have completed? Thanks Kristinac884 (talk) 12:20, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Kristinac884: Your best bet would be to create an article at Draft:Cambridge Cognition. Draft articles are not subject to the same scrutiny that mainspace articles are (although they must avoid copyright infringement). You can work on the article as a draft until it is ready to publish. I would recommend a complete rewrite of the article that you had created, as that one was rather overtly promotional. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:24, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edited because my username appears that I am related to living people I edited about.[edit]

Hi Wikidan!

I appreciate the help. I noticed that the page I was reading was full of bias- mostly an advertisement for the company that the page was about. So I edited it to add real information. The page boasts about the owner's child's leukemia- so I figured mentioning alcoholism is roughly the same thing. I took both the Leukemia and the Alcoholism out. They are of course both medical conditions. I attempted to make the page less of an advertisement. Thanks for your help! As a side note, you commented that I have a name that appears as if I am related in some way- just a coincidence. I am not related. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ktpetersen (talkcontribs) 18:30, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Non- neutral edits deleted.[edit]

wikidan.

I would like you to please put back my edits that are neutral. You actually appear to be the non-neutral party in this case. The article I have edited is completely neutral now compared with before my edits. Nothing in it was "sourced" to begin with so my taking out content that was self promotional just makes it more neutral. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ktpetersen (talkcontribs) 19:48, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Ktpetersen: Your edits are not neutral. You make unsourced claims that the show's guests are intoxicated, and that the show's host is a novice in the food and beverage industry (thus implying that he really has no idea what he is talking about). You write that Douglas Petersen was a permanent fixture on the show "until Petersen moved away from New Hampshire due to his alcoholism". This is an unsourced negative statement about a living person, and cannot be allowed to remain in the article by Wikipedia's WP:BLP policy. You further write: Schommer has made a personal investment and has made "Common Man Cocktails" his full time job, including creating and editing this wikipedia page. The fact that Schommer may have edited the page is an issue that should be dealt with behind the scenes; it should not be made part of the article itself. Finally, you write, without citation, that "the ethics of the show are called into question by the fan base." These edits are highly non-neutral and indicate that you hold a grudge against the show for whatever reason. You have claimed that you are not related to Doug Petersen, so I'll accept that fact, but you clearly have issues with this show. Personally, I could care less about it. I have never seen it and have no intention of ever seeing it. I will probably do the research required to see if the article should remain on Wikipedia, but on the face of it, it appears to be a fairly popular show that has generated a fair amount of press, so the answer to that question is likely "yes." In any case, I have no bias either for or agains the show; I only seek to preserve Wikipedia's neutrality to the extent possible. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:57, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New to Wikipedia[edit]

WikiDan61

Hi, I am new to wikipedia and i am not clear about the proceeding going on here clearly. I have doubts on a couple of things. I refered online tutorials and they were of no use. My doubts are 1. How do I change the article title? I tried using the template but it dint work out. It was you then later changed the title of my page - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Soan_papdi_(2015_film) . My second doubt is, How can i upload images in wikipedia. It says that my account is not confirmed yet, so i will not be able to upload any images. Please walk me through in this. Thank You. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barath92 (talkcontribs)

@Barath92: Welcome to Wikipedia! I know it can be quite daunting when you start. I'll help you how I can.
  1. Changing the article title
At Wikipedia, this is referred to as a "page move". The instructions on how to do it are here. However, you won't be able to do this action until your account has been autoconfirmed. This is a feature of the wiki software that attempts to block some forms of vandalism. (You have no idea how many people think it's fun to come and mess with Wikipedia!) So, you'll have to wait a few days, and make some more edits (4 days/10 edits, to be precise) before you become autoconfirmed and can move a page.
  2. Uploading images
This feature is also restricted to autoconfirmed users. Once you have reached that milestone, you should follow the directions at Help:Uploading images.
Good luck, and feel free to ask me for help again. It's the weekend, and I'm only online sparingly on weekends, so if I don't respond quickly enough, you can also "shout a question into the air" by placing the {{help me}} template on your user talk page, followed by the question you want answered. Someone will come along shortly with an answer. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:13, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

hi[edit]

hi dan, trying to write a page but im new, do you have any tips pal? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anyrobinhood (talkcontribs)

@Anyrobinhood: You need to demonstrate that the subject of your article is notable. In the case of Jason Mace, you failed to make this assertion. You wrote about a person whose claim to fame is that he founded a company that sells event tents. That doesn't really seem all that significant, but I could be wrong. In order to prove me wrong, you'll have to provide evidence that Mr Mace has received significant coverage in independent media. A local newspaper profiling his new company won't quite do; we'd need something that indicates that his accomplishments have garnered notice beyond his own home town or county. Kleen Respect[edit]

Thanks for the feedback Dan. My press releases go out by a senior editor and not by me. I did not write this and it went through your copyright department because they found it in a press release. It was cleared per the notes in my wikepedia file and permission were granted based on e-mails sent by me writer and myself.

You mention to leave out my discography and I will for now. It is very difficult to reach the top 5 on Reverbnation and it is also based on your popularity and followers. Also, to be favorited in the US, UK and the very respected Radio City Music Hall with songcast radio that is very widely known is also showing importance.

Anyway, the music is now on 100's of locations around the globe and in many, many countries. This is also notable and a musician's dream Mondotunes uses United Music Group/Interscope Records to release music to millions of people and did this with mine. We both profit from the proceeds and I am sure you have heard of the largest music company out there United Music Group.

Anyway, it appears you don't have a whole lot of music background so I am not surprised these would not be accomplishments to you and be notable. Have you been in the music world?

I will take out my discography and post my well written (by a senior editor that was verified under Wikepedia copyrights) who actually gave permissions to use this write up...not created by me.

Thanks-

JC Miller

@Kayzagga: The history of Draft:Kleen Respect indicates that you are the author of that article. If someone else is writing it for you, they should have their own username. (See WP:NOSHARING.) Also, regardless of whether you are writing the article yourself, or you are paying an editor to do so, the conflict of interest remains. In both cases, the motivation of the person writing the article is to paint a positive picture of the band, whereas one of the basic motivations of Wikipedia is to maintain neutrality.
The issue with your draft is not one of copyright. (As you've pointed out, that has been resolved with the OTRS people.) Rather, the issue is that of notability. Regardless of the accomplishments that you have claimed for the band, what is needed to signify notability is clearly spelled out at WP:BAND. The basic requirement is that your band should have been the subject of several instances of significant, non-trivial coverage in reliable sources. A profile in any of the national music magazines or major music websites (something other than joesmusicblog.com), or some verifiable evidence of awards won at the national level, would go a long way toward establishing notability. The fact that you have your music loaded to "100's of locations" is not evidence of notability, just aggressive marketing. Any band can get their music on iTunes or soundcloud or ReverbNation, or any of the other music download sites. Getting noticed and getting significant coverage is a different thing. Show us evidence of that, and your draft article might make it to mainspace. (Heck, any band that has been around for 17 years and released as many albums as you have must be doing something right. Give us the evidence of that.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:17, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I need some feedback[edit]

I've been involved in an interaction where a user edited while not logged in, thus revealing their IP address. The IP address reveals that the editor in question has a serious WP:COI in the matter at hand. Is it considered WP:OUTING to mention that COI based on the IP address? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:33, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WP:OUTING says: "Posting another editor's personal information is harassment, unless that person had voluntarily posted his or her own information, or links to such information, on Wikipedia. Personal information includes [...] home or workplace address, job title and work organisation [...]" (emphasis added). It goes on: "However, if individuals have identified themselves without redacting or having it oversighted, such information can be used for discussions of conflict of interest (COI) in appropriate forums. If redacted or oversighted personally identifying material is important to the COI discussion, then it should be emailed privately to an administrator or arbitrator – but not repeated on Wikipedia: it will be sufficient to say that the editor in question has a COI and the information has been emailed to the appropriate administrative authority."
My suggestion would be as follows: Tell the editor in question that they seem to have accidentally left personal onformation on Wikipedia that they may want to see removed (and IPs of editors who have accidentally edited while logged out are oversightable), but at the same time remind them that they should be aware of WP:COI and should make sure to comply with the Terms of Use on paid editing, if applicable. If the editor doesn't declare the COI and problems remain, see the guidance given above on how to handle the issue. Huon (talk) 18:47, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rocky Flats Edits[edit]

You stated appears to "whitewash" -- this is fact checking to correct falsities. Please review the page -- references do not exist that are cited. Each added by me are fact. Please revert back including items like "former" representative, etc.

Statement in first sentence "Contaminated by plutonium during plutonium fires and both uranium and plutonium ground leakage, there is no public access to the refuge at this time.[2]" Try to follow this reference? It isn't truthful.

Deleted stuff[edit]

I deleted your dialogue on User talk:Musicpublisheronline, because years of experience of user interface design have led me to believe that the more you write, the less newbies read it. I decided to put the article in draft space, it probably needs a lot of TLC to get a suitable article out of it, and maybe the user's going to give up and go elsewhere, but it's an experiment worth trying - let's give it a go and see what happens. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:13, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aha - got it, it was a discussion and the new editor didn't sign their posts. I see what you were getting at now. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:14, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Ritchie333: Also, I think you were overly kind in moving that article to draft space. The subject is a local musician, radio DJ and music store owner with absolutely no signs of any notability. I have no idea why the DB-A7 wasn't acted on sooner, but now it's in draft space where it will likely wither and die. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:16, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I thought about sending to AfD, but then I decided to try this idea of "draft, don't delete" that I'd proposed last week on the Village Pump, just to see what would happen. I think this is because it looks like the article my other half or one of our friends would write if they knew nothing about WP policies or guidelines. Anyway, two things I picked up on were the mention of radio stations and ASCAP activism, which led me to think it ought to be worth a redirect, maybe.
Sorry if it looked like I was doing live experimentation - you do a lot of NPP with solid judgement, and the place would fall apart without it, so please keep up the good work! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:24, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I suppose that, without signatures on MPO's responses, it did look like I wrote a LONG diatribe. I generally try to keep my messages to a paragraph, and my English to a relatively simple level (think USA Today, not James Joyce!). Sometimes I miss my mark. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:30, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it was really a diatribe, it's just that it looked like a stereotypical output of a Twinkle template. Best thing to do in those circumstances is manually add {{unsigned}} and format the conversation appropriately, as SineBot has been playing up a lot recently and seems to be forgetting to sign stuff all over the place. I will say that large parts of that draft need to have similar treatment to what my back lawn desperately needs! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:41, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Masta Wu[edit]

There's been a group of people who think they own wiki and have been deleting and replacing information on kpop artist while disregarding the original author. This was the latest version until before they affected the article. They will make changes and leave comments like "this page is unnecessary, it doesn't nee to exist" and delete all the content, then block whoever and everyone who reverts it enough times. They actually blocked the major contributor to that article. It's majorly the people from WikiProject Korea, they aren't fans, aren't Korean, and there's been lots of complaints about their frequent deleting of pages. Wikipedia is for everyone, and everyone can edit, right? Well they gang up and only let edits they think are right stay. What gives them priority over other users? If you're one of them, please explain. The worst is that they're editing stuff that they know nothing of the scene. If you think "how do you know?" well that's because I just spent the last 6 hours reading through their accounts, edits, and contributions. Their comments and reasoning are invalid. The people to whom the information that they are editing is relevant, actually want to know stuff like the fan group color code of this or that kpop group, when new artists will debute, when albums will come out... etc They delete that info with "it hasn't happened" . Well guess what, we don't care, we care that it will happen, and we are thankful to the person who made to page. Other reason why they know nothing of Kpop and are just editing like what they think academic resources should look like, [wiki isn't academic in no sense, and it will never], is that they actually wanted to remove Luhan's page because he isn't "relevant" or popular. Luhan is really popular, his weibo following is the ish, and he's a Chinese actor/singer even though he left EXO; I wonder what they define popular as because obviously there are more people in China, then in the U.S, by World standards, that's makes Luhan more popular than whomever isn't Chinese, [by restricting fan base to country of origin].

--Kazi 10:46, 27 April 2015 (UTC)But yeah, that edit of Masta Wu, is what should be there. and any further updates should be done from there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kazandre (talkcontribs)

@Kazandre: I have no idea about any of that. I do not follow KPop and have no interest in it. I came across this one article in the course of recent changes patrol, and that's the only reason I became involved. The version of Masta Wu that you restored was almost deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Masta Wu because it was an incomprehensible load of machine-translated Korean that made absolutely no sense in English, and what little sense could be made of it pointed to a singer who did not merit inclusion at Wikipedia. The version that was allowed to remain was briefer, but more comprehensible and more indicative of Wu's notability as a musician. Please do not restore the incomprehensible version. Your English appears reasonably good -- feel free to expand the existing article in comprehensible English and with valid sources. But don't restore the incomprehensible version again. @Poker books: Actually, as I've mentioned in the discussion, I don't know that this merge is valid after all. Your article is full of claims that are not supported by sources. Do you have reliable sources to back up your claims of the first mention of poker, or the first book about poker, or the rest? As a collector, you may well know these things, but as Wikipedia editors, we want to verify these things by referring to reliable sources. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:32, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

javi du art page[edit]

Hello WikiDan61, as of January 27th, 2015. javi du art became the youngest artist to ever exhibit at Art Palm Beach. This includes the last 18 years for which the fair has been running for. The international fair consists of multiple international galleries located in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Hong Kong, among many, many others. Lee Ann Lester, the director of the fair, has also confirmed that du art is the youngest emerging artist to ever exhibit at the prestigious event.

Jonnyplaxo (talk) 18:07, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Jonnyplaxo: You can say that du art was the youngest ever, and it may or may not be true, but Wikipedia can't take your word for it. We need proof from a reliable source. The source you have cited contains the quote:
"He was the youngest artist to be showcased at ArtPalmBeach last January and was chosen as one of 20 artists out of hundreds of applicants."
This clearly indicates he was the youngest in 2015, but not the youngest ever. Also, the significance of Art Palm Beach is not well established. The sources that article uses to establish this show as "one of the most important annual art events on Florida’s Gold Coast" do not support that claim. (And even if they did, "most important in Florida's Gold Coast" does not necessarily equate to "most important in the world".) So, what we have is a young man who exhibited at a local art show. Kudos to him; that's a nice feather in his cap. But it is not sufficient to merit a Wikipedia article. See WP:ARTIST. If you disagree, you may make your voice heard at WP:Articles for deletion/Javi du art. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:17, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Art Palm Beach is not a 'local art show' as you suggest. Simply because the show is located in his hometown it does not equate to a small, local show. As I have stated previously, it brings exhibits galleries from around the world. In terms of reliable sources, the media has unfortunately misinformed the audience about his accomplishments. I have emailed Jan Engoren, the writer from the Sun Sentinel, to revise the article so it states factual information. I will come back to this post to send you the updated article which states the correct information as soon as I have a response. Thank you.

Jonnyplaxo (talk) 18:27, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Jonnyplaxo: It is unlikely the Sun Sentinel will change the article because the fact in question comes from a direct quote from one of their sources. They are unlikely to change the quote just to please you. In any case, the article is nominated for deletion. Nothing you say here is going to change that. Make your case at WP:Articles for deletion/Javi du art. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:42, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

House of Landi[edit]

What was wrong with listing the names and titles of the Landi Royalty of the Landi State? Every name and title is historically correct the dates are correct and multi sourced. Nothing questionable, controversial or debatable. All are relevant. What warranted editorial attention? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.77.92.16 (talk) 04:16, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@107.77.92.16: As I mentioned in the edit summary, the list of rulers was completely unsourced, and formatted in such a manner as to be essentially unreadable, and therefore offered no benefit to the reader but confusion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 04:26, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

HexJoe — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hexjoe (talkcontribs) 17:00, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Hexjoe: Your article has no references. All articles require citations to verify their content, but biographies of living persons are held to a higher standard, and are subject to deletion if they are unsourced. Find some references to verify the content of the article, and then it might be ready for publication. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 05:13, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @WikiDan61 - I acknowledge municipal politicians do not generally pass WP:POLITICIAN, however there is a place reserved on Wikipedia for local figures who have attracted significant media coverage beyond their own home town or district. A number of media articles at national level concerning the subject have now been linked.

The page now cites in total 16 articles published in the national press, including several where the subject is the main individual featured / quoted, examples Independent, Times and Irish Times. The page cites an interview with the national television broadcaster, RTE. The page also cites multiple articles in the regional press where the subject is featured. I would argue this meets criterion as regards “significant coverage by reliable sources, independent of the subject”. On this basis the article should be removed from AfD category in my opinion. Cloudscape (Band)[edit]

Hello.

I'm the singer and founder of the band Cloudscape. I've been trying to update the page and the information of the various CD releases we've done over the years but, I'm not sure I've done it correctly plus I'm new to this as a user. When it comes to "source" it can't be a more reliable source than I am considering I formed the band back in 2001. Is it possible for You to fix so the changes and additions stays on the different pages? I will update the information about our 2nd album (Crimson skies) soon as well. All the best: Mike Andersson (mike@cloudscape.se) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cloudscapeonline (talkcontribs) 15:00, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Cloudscapeonline: Mike, Wikipedia discourages band members from editing articles about their own band or albums. This is because Wikipedia strives to create neutral content, and it is difficult for people to maintain the proper neutrality about their own projects. As for sourcing, you may well be the best source of knowledge about your band, but Wikipedia relies on sources that are independent of the subject, again for neutrality purposes. See Wikipedia's guidelines on reliable sources for more information. Also, it is not possible for me to fix changes so they stay: anyone can edit Wikipedia, and the information you add today can be changed tomorroy by any other user. Information based on reliable sources is always the best, as users removing reliably sourced information are generally reprimanded and the material is restored. But users are generally free to remove unsourced information, as Wikipedia generally wants all of its information to be verifiable and information that isn't is subject to removal at any time. Re: deletion of article[edit]

Hi, I didn't tag that to speedy deletion. I know there is translation procedure, here, on Wikipedia, however this article didn't make any bigger sense after quick-translating using Google. It seemed to be tutorial/essay about usage of prepositions. Wikipedia isn't likely (by policies I read) place for that kind of texts (rather wikibooks). That's why I've flagged this article. I hope you understand. Tymon.r Do you have any questions? 12:42, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

response to your request for deletion[edit]

honestly it just seems like you are trolling. I have reviewed your article on the film "cloud" which has little and no significant sources as listed, no importance or notability. This film has little potential to impact or be seen. What you claim about that other page can be said about yours. or in your words, "so it is unlikely to make the kind of impact that would lead to significant coverage." I hope I do not offend but I am very confused.

as well as you have supported similar articles in the past that are a small time business with little significance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beulah_London — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sagaines (talkcontribs) 19:33, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Sagaines: The notability of articles to which I have contributed is irrelevant. The issue at hand is whether CISD is a notable organization, and it does not appear to be so. Wikipedia has criteria for inclusion, the main one being that the subject of the article has been the topic of significant coverage in independent media. The main reason for this is that Wikipedia editors can have reliable sources from which to draw verifiable material about the topic. In the case of CISD, there is no coverage, so there is no reliable source of information.
If you feel strongly enough about the issue, you are free to nominate either of those articles for deletion (I might even agree with you on the Beulah London case) but that won't change matters for CISD. I would suggest that if you feel that CISD does merit inclusion, you make your argument at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Center for International Study and Development. ARTICLE INDO PAKISTAN WAR OF 1965 IS INCORRECT[edit]

Hello sir my name is Shaharyar I just want to tell you that the article Indo Pakistan war of 1965 is incorrect a wrong content is written in that article, many sources are not even verifiable and almost all sources are from Indian books and the times of India, it is obvious that Indians will never accept their defeat so then please kindly pay attention to that article. Thanks for viewing my message. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaharyar.121 (talkcontribs) 16:06, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Shaharyar.121: Yes, I see that you have gotten into much conflict over this issue. I'm not a military historian and by no means versed in the issues of the Indo-Pakistan War, but a perusal of the sources shows a fair number of international sources (i.e. neither Indian nor Pakistani). I will concur that there are more Indian sources than Pakistani, but not overwhelmingly so. Since you seem to be on a one man campaign to rewrite the history of the Indian-Pakistani conflict without any reliable sources to do so, I am disinclined to join you in your campaign.
PS: Apologies for the delay in my reply. As I explicitly request that new discussions be placed at the end of my talk page to maintain discussions in chronological order, I completely missed your post that was placed at the beginning of my page.
