Hi WikiDan61,

Thank you for your explanations. I'm a bit mixed with the requirements. If I write of the really new thing, where can I get the links to other sources? And, for example, there are links to Belorussian TV, CTV, telling about AirySense. Will it be enough? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexei ro (talkcontribs) 16:40, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexei ro: You'll need to cite sources that provide significant coverage of this company. And this is not a "really new thing", as it has been around for 4 years or more. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:46, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 17:17:33, 13 November 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Flippers4feet[edit]

Why is sufferlandria considered humor? If you check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/TourofSufferlandria/ or their actual website - they are a real virtual country. It is talked about by thousands of people and having a Wikipedia entry would allow the masses, when they hare someone talking about it, to get detailed information about what it is.

Flippers4feet (talk) 17:17, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Flippers4feet: The fact that many people share a joke does not make it any less a joke. If you can cite some actual coverage of Sufferlandia in media independent of this group (i.e. has any newspaper or magazine written about it?), then you might have something. Request on 21:56:56, 14 November 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Rpage2016[edit]

Hello! I am trying to get my article over Poems on Miscellaneous Subjects posted onto Wikipedia! I was wondering if you could help me edit the page before I submit it for review so it can get accepted!

Rpage2016 (talk) 21:56, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Rpage2016: As I noted when I declined the submission, the analytical portions of your article don't appear to be sourced to a reliable source. You can't write analytically about a piece of literature, and cite the literature itself as your source. Your analysis came from someplace beyond the literature itself, and without a valid source, it appears that the analysis came from you, which would violate Wikipedia's policy against publishing original research. If you can provide sources for your analytical conclusions about the work, there might be something to work with. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:19, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

31 hour blocks[edit]

I saw on ANI you were wondering why 31 hour blocks are the standard - well...quoting from my user page So I was wondering why the standard blocking time is 31 hours, and apparently it's because one random guy thought that was a good number—with an excellent rationale of "31 is a prime number, that has appeal TO ME over all the other 29<x<37 numbers"—in 2005. Guess it's really true that things are done in wikipedia because that's the way it has always been done. So yeah.. Galobtter (talkó tuó mió) 13:12, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Message[edit]

You commented on my Wikipedia draft about Stormy Chamberlain. I had to create this page for a class project and including a picture was extra credit and that was the only picture that didn't get flagged for copyright violations. I deleted your comment but only because I do not want my page to get deleted before my teacher grades it. Sorry about that. Thanks for your help — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lindseynrich96 (talkcontribs)

@Lindseynrich96: Your draft page won't be deleted merely because of my comments, and in general, it is considered very poor form to remove other users' comments. You may reply to the comments, and you may continue to improve the article. As for the extra credit, that's up to your teacher, but if you have access to photograph Dr Chamberlain, she might prefer a less silly picture. ANI Experiences survey[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (led by the Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) is conducting a survey for en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

You cannot rename a river, because it suits you[edit]

Mate - Afon Adda is the name, its not Called River Adda, although granted, that may be a name used colloquially by some english speakers. I've not incorrectly named it - ive merely corrected a previous error! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Epa Cymraeg (talkcontribs) 13:40, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Epa Cymraeg: As noted on your talk page by both me and the administrator who corrected your mistake, the English Language Wikipedia has guidelines indicating how articles should be titled (see WP:Article titles). Although the native Welsh name of the river may be Afon Adda, the common English name is River Adda, and that is the how the article should be titled for English readers. There is a Welsh language Wikipedia (https://cy.wikipedia.org/wiki). You are free to title articles in your native Welsh language there, but here, we use English language titles. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:44, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly you have no idea what youre talking about! The Name of the River is Afon Adda, but is colloqually referred by SOME but not all as 'River Adda'. Place names are the names, regardless of WIKIPEDIA's policy towards other languages. If the English language entry is erroneous, then, it needs to be corrected. THats what I did. Your edit is incorrect! Nothing more to add - so please put it right. This is a BILINGUAL country, where Welsh Names are oftern changed for reasons like your PETTY argument. If Wikipedia is to be trusted - things like this need to be corrected! Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Epa Cymraeg (talkcontribs) 13:52, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Epa Cymraeg: If you have an issue with the Wikipedia policy, you can take it up at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy). However, until the policy changes, I stand by my edit. If you would like to open a discussion about the name of this particular river, you may do so at Talk:River Adda (Wales). If you can obtain consensus for this move, I'll support it, but until then, I won't change my action, and I recommend that you do not do so unilaterally either. That might get you blocked (as you have already been informed once by an administrator that your move was incorrect). WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:56, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61, I only have an issue with your poorly assessed interpretation of the Wiki policy. Look at ANY map of this river, and youll see its NOT called River Adda - try this map as an example: https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/53.20276/-4.16376 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Epa Cymraeg (talkcontribs) 14:14, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Epa Cymraeg: I choose not to discuss this matter to death with you. If you want to move the article, take up the issue at Talk:River Adda (Wales). Please do not bother me any more with this argument. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:28, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewer Newsletter[edit]

Hello WikiDan61, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:27, 12 December 2017 (UTC) [reply]

Publishing an article[edit]

Hello,

My team and I are working on the page "Le rôle de l'horloge circadienne dans le développement de la maladie du diabète", in english, it would be "The role of the circadian clock in the development of the diabete's disease".

If I post it on French Wikipedia, and it get accepted, can I do the same page in English Wikipedia too?

Thank you very much!

Assia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chronobioassia (talkcontribs) 21:20, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Chronobioassia: Yes, of course! Many articles on the English Wikipedia started out on foreign language Wikipedias. Translating from one to another is actually an ongoing process that is highly encouraged. You can either publish at fr.wiki first, and then translate the article to en.wiki (there are templates, such as {{Translated page}}, to give proper attribution to the authors of the French article during the translation process). And I would recommend the English title Role of circadian rhythms in the development of diabetes as a simpler, more direct translation of the French title. For reference, there is already some information at circadian rhythm related to this topic (see Circadian rhythm#Obesity and diabetes and Circadian rhythm#Effect of circadian disruption). User:Diak4 opening RfC based on objection to "left-wing partisanship" in Alternative for Germany[edit]

Hey there. I just wanted to see if you would be willing to take part in an RFC that User:Diak4 has opened an RfC on the lede for Alternative for Germany [here that goes as follows: "I am concerned of the partisan nature of this sentence and it disrupting the neutrality of the page since it is making an allegation that many supporters of this party are racists, neo-nazi's, etc. I am even more particularly concerned with the sources being so biased against this party as well as being partisan, left-wing sites. I understand that this is not against WP:RS however it brings the opinion of these sites and states them as facts on the Alternative for Germany page." This is based on a previous discussion here:[1]. -- Wilner (Speak to me) 12:07, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Guild of Copy Editors December 2017 News[edit]

Guild of Copy Editors December 2017 News

Hello copy editors! Welcome to the December 2017 GOCE newsletter, which contains nine months(!) of updates. The Guild has been busy and successful; your diligent efforts in 2017 has brought the backlog of articles requiring copy edit to below 1,000 articles for the first time. Thanks to all editors who have contributed their time and energy to help make this happen.

Our copy-editing drives (month-long backlog-reduction drives held in odd-numbered months) and blitzes (week-long themed editing in even-numbered months) have been very successful this year.

March drive: We set out to remove April, May, and June 2016 from our backlog and all February 2017 Requests (a total of 304 articles). By the end of the month, all but 22 of these articles were cleared. Officially, of the 28 who signed up, 22 editors recorded 257 copy edits (439,952 words). (These numbers do not always make sense when you compare them to the overall reduction in the backlog, because not all editors record every copy edit on the drive page.)

April blitz: This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 16 through 22 April; the theme was Requests. Of the 15 who signed up, 9 editors completed 43 articles (81,822 words).

May drive: The goals were to remove July, August, and September 2016 from the backlog and to complete all March 2017 Requests (a total of 300 articles). By the end of the month, we had reduced our overall backlog to an all-time low of 1,388 articles. Of the 28 who signed up, 17 editors completed 187 articles (321,810 words).

June blitz: This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 18 through 24 June; the theme was Requests. Of the 16 who signed up, 9 editors completed 28 copy edits (117,089 words).

2017 Coordinator elections: In June, coordinators for the second half of 2017 were elected. Jonesey95 moved back into the lead coordinator position, with Miniapolis stepping down to remain as coordinator; Tdslk and Corinne returned as coordinators, and Keira1996 rejoined after an extended absence. Thanks to all who participated!

July drive: We set out to remove August, September, October, and November 2016 from the backlog and to complete all May and June 2017 Requests (a total of 242 articles). The drive was an enormous success, and the target was nearly achieved within three weeks, so that December 2016 was added to the "old articles" list used as a goal for the drive. By the end of the month, only three articles from 2016 remained, and for the second drive in a row, the backlog was reduced to a new all-time low, this time to 1,363 articles. Of the 33 who signed up, 21 editors completed 337 articles (556,482 words).

August blitz: This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 20 through 26 August; the theme was biographical articles tagged for copy editing for more than six months (47 articles). Of the 13 who signed up, 11 editors completed 38 copy edits (42,589 words).

September drive: The goals were to remove January, February, and March 2017 from the backlog and to complete all August 2017 Requests (a total of 338 articles). Of the 19 who signed up, 14 editors completed 121 copy edits (267,227 words).

October blitz: This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 22 through 28 October; the theme was Requests. Of the 14 who signed up, 8 editors completed 20 articles (55,642 words).

November drive: We set out again to remove January, February, and March 2017 from the backlog and to complete all October 2017 Requests (a total of 207 articles). By the end of the month, these goals were reached and the backlog shrank to its lowest total ever, 997 articles, the first time it had fallen under one thousand (click on the graph above to see this amazing feat in graphical form). It was also the first time that the oldest copy-edit tag was less than eight months old. Of the 25 who signed up, 16 editors completed 159 articles (285,929 words).

2018 Coordinator elections: Voting is open for the election of coordinators for the first half of 2018. Please visit the election page to vote between now and December 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Thanks for participating!

Housekeeping note: We do not send a newsletter before (or after) every drive or blitz. To have a better chance of knowing when the next event will start, add the GOCE's message box to your watchlist.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: Jonesey95, Miniapolis, Corinne, Tdslk, and Keira1996.

To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

New Years new page backlog drive[edit]

Hello WikiDan61, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

Square gang[edit]

think its rude that you deleted a draft of mine that wasn't finished and wasn't gonna be published as I had much to add and then say its all negative there's a lot of negative stuff on this website e.g. Pablo Escobar a drug kingpin who was the reason for many deaths of people also how do u know that the people i mentioned are even alive you don't so instead of deleting pages you should have told me so i could have taken my work down and put it in my own file

also, there are many other pages on this website about gangs e.g. apex gang if you had asked I would have removed the names — Preceding unsigned comment added by AB866 (talkcontribs) 21:13, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@AB866: You may not publish negative information about other people on Wikipedia without verification, even in the draft space. Your article was essentially an unsubstantiated claim of criminal activity against a group of people, and that is not allowed. For the record, I did not delete the article, I merely tagged it for deletion. It was deleted by an administrator, so at least one other user agreed with my rationale for having the page deleted. Hi WikiDan61,

Thank you for your prompt reply regarding the Milan Kordestani page. I'm curious to see what I can do to improve the page to get it approved. There is significant coverage from various media sources and so I'm unsure why the page has been deleted. I'd like to fix it rather than just cut it out. Pleaselet me know what I can do. Thank you so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:3024:1827:6E00:4143:D157:FB3C:6D77 (talkcontribs)

@2603:3024:1827:6E00:4143:D157:FB3C:6D77: I don't know that there's much to do to improve the article. The discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Milan Kordestani occurred when sufficient coverage of his horsemanship career had already been provided, but that coverage was not deemed to render Kordestani sufficiently notable. As for his other accomplishments (CEO of Milan Farms and HuffPost writer), it's pretty clear that those are not accomplishments for which he will merit inclusion at Wikipedia. There has also been a significant problem of sock puppetry surrounding this subject, and editing as an unregistered IP editor is not helping your cause.
If an article about Kordestani is to exist at all, it will be based on his accomplishments as an equestrian, but it does not appear that those accomplishments have yet reached the level of meriting inclusion. Should he win any major tournaments/awards, that might be a thing. His showing at ASHA events does not appear to be sufficiently notable, as the notability of the American Saddlebred Horse Association has not yet been established, so the notability of its awards/competitions cannot be gauged. For an equestrian, I should think that a medal placement major international tournament or Olympics might be needed to assure notability.
These are all my opinions, of course, and others may have differing opinions. I won't object to you re-submitting the article; I'll step aside and let other editors evaluate the draft. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:58, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New entry on wikipedia in wrong language.[edit]

Hi there WikiDan61. I tryied to add a new article in wikipedia but as you saw I made amistake regarding the language entry. I added the entry in Greece language in order to correct my mistake. So now i thing its ok. Can I also ask you a question because i saw some differences between en.wikipedia and el.wikipedia. In Greek draft editing i didnt manage to add on the top of the article the command {{AFC submission|||ts=20180102222655|u=Deniaparaschi|ns=3}}. Do i have to enter a different command ? can you please revise the code in my Greek sumbition and tell me if i have to do something more thnak you in advace Denia

@Deniaparaschi: I'm sorry, I can't help you with the Greek Wikipedia, as I don't speak or read Greek, so I'm not familiar with the procedures there. I'm sure you can seek help among the Greek Wikipedia user community regarding your draft. Good luck! WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 05:59, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

reverting a profile - so far today 9 times.[edit]

oh come on. Just exactly what is going on here?

I've tried very hard to comply with a profile, I have rewritten and adapted, to suit all. It has no personal details, or over emotive elements. I am not paid, receiving remuneration, or expect to. I am a cyclist, of longstanding time, with extensive knowledge and detail, of many riders, of which, Allan is one. The profile I am rewriting, was and remains a work in progress. The revert that you've acted upon several times, was written by me, several years ago, and is out of date, poorly written and certainly incomplete. The new profile i started several days ago, is a work in progress. I have tried to show what the next elements of the work are (by adding "text box to follow, with race results") under each section, or paragraph.

The only section or paragraph, I was going to leave "as is" is the section "1982 ACBB France" which mentions several other English cyclists, whom followed a similar path (mentioned often in other wiki profiles) and the book author - who wrote of them, and their collective exploits.

I am at a loss, to which element, is forcing the revert edits, or indeed what is the purpose. Please explain in detail, the reasoning.

PDM888 (talk) 17:43, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@PDM888: Your promotional edits were reverted. Then you created an article with a bunch of blank placeholders. That is in no way better than the article that existed. If you'd like to create a "work in progress", please do so in your own userspace. You may copy the current contents of the article to User:PDM888/Alan Peiper, edit the content there to your heart's content with no interference from others, and then copy your updated article back over the original when you are done. However, realize that your new article will again be subjected to scrutiny to see if it an improvement over the existing content. Please adhere to Wikipedia's policy about neutrality and verifiability: facts in the article should have citations to reliable sources. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:48, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dan - nothing was a promoted edit. It's offensive and ridiculous, to suggest so, as it was, and simply is not, the case. It might be worth checking the spelling of "Allan Peiper" as it's the subject of many wikipedia errors, between language versions (on wiki) and elsewhere. Dan was it yourself, who's just posted "edit warring" on the talk page? If it was, I would say, I was not aware of this, but I also think the behaviour is incorrect.

The first person, who reverted my work, was ChrissyMad - I replied and edited the profile piece to suit. No reply.

Then, another brusque comment received by a copyright allegation of the image, of Allan Peiper - again, incorrect, and pointed out to the copyright accuser. It was also suggested, by the same person, that I should state whether i am receiving payment, expect to receive recompense, or am promoting a brand or Allan, himself. Nope to all of these allegations, stated or implied.

My thoughts on how wikipedia is conducted, is 50/50. I understand that errors occur, and whilst many are well versed, others less so. Tolerance, and aggressive conduct, is not why I try to add worthwhile content to wikipedia. I clearly, have an interest in adding and uploading cycling images (mine) to the website for free use. I've done that years before (user name back then PDM88 - I lost my password, and hadn't used wikipedia for several years) I'm not interested in a email, text/tennis war, it's not my interest, and I simply have tried to improve something, I know to be outdated and poorly drafted.

Looking at other sport profiles (both cyclists and other athletes) i considered the best way to do this. I have a cycling background, encompassing many countries, and more than 40 years, so yes, I have metaphorically, pedalled around the block.

I can see a lot of wikipedia errors, on races, and profiles, which are neither factually correct, nor validated. It has taken me some considerable time, to collate the race results for another rider, using own knowledge, and cross referencing with existing website data. Interestingly, many errors, are obviously copied from other data driven cycling websites, and simply taken as "gospel".

So, I leave this in your hands. If the old profile as its being reverted to remains, then I will let you lot sort it out. I'm done with the silliness and petty conduct of a few.

@PDM888: I'm sorry you've had a tough time editing at Wikipedia. It can be a somewhat daunting experience. I had hoped to point out the various policies that might help you get your footing in order to proceed successfully. I understand your interest in updating articles (they're not profiles per se, as this isn't a social media site; rather they are encyclopedia articles) about competition cyclists. And I understand your concern that the article about Allan Peiper is out of date. But when you update it with the text that you did (phrases such as "Driven by a fierce competitive spirit", "A young junior, he raced with determination, and cared little for reputations", and "Following his dreams, ...", these changes cannot be allowed to remain as they are gross violations of Wikipedia's neutrality doctrine. Also, when you remove existing material, only to replace it with "'TEMP >> select race results to add. box style addition add validation links to various websites", this is not helpful. I had suggested to you that you edit the article in your user space if you are not yet ready to update the article with complete information. I wish you would take that advice. 14:41:48, 7 January 2018 review of submission by Wikinewby2017[edit]

I have made substantial changes to this entry, added many more sources (some in line with the already established German page) and structured the entry better in line with similar pages (for example Nat Keohane, Draft:Robert_Litterman). A prior page was deleted due to lack of notoriety. That has since clearly been established, with the publication of a prominent book.

13:20:11, 9 January 2018 review of submission by Dylankyle04[edit]

So you're saying it has to be published to be true? My great grandfather wrote that document, and just because the, place that hosts it is itself the organization, it doesn't count? I don't understand.

@Dylankyle04: There is no implication that the source you used isn't true, only that it is published by the organization itself. In order to establish notability, we need evidence that people outside of and independent from the organization have written about it, to establish that the church is, indeed, significant and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. 18:14:52, 9 January 2018 review of submission by UMBSSW741[edit]

Hello, could you please help us understand why this page was declined when I have encountered various other University/ University program pages on Wikipedia that have even less (or none at all) external references/ resources than we currently have. (See UNC School of Social Work, George Warren Brown School of Social Work, University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work, UNC School of Social Work, etc)

Other UMB Schools on campus have their own subpages ( law, medicine, etc.). We simply want the same format. Our competitors also have their own pages. Could you please help us understand why those others have been published with no notable/ reliable external citations/ references about the schools, but ours, which already contains some, is not being published?

Thank you! UMBSSW741 (talk) 18:14, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@UMBSSW741: I declined the page based on a lack of reliable, third party sources. You have not provided any evidence that anyone independent of the school has written anything significant about the school. Based on the outcomes of related deletion discussions, it is the consensus of the Wikipedia community that departments within colleges or universities are not independently notable unless they have received significant coverage separate and apart from their housing college or university. The presents of other articles does not successfully argue for the presence of this article (see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS). Your insistence that "we want the same format" because "our competitors have their own pages" indicates that you are trying to use Wikipedia to promote your school, which is forbidden. As to the "reliable external citations" of which you speak, I have addressed them in my comments at the draft page: citations to papers written by your faculty are not sufficient; what is needed are citations to articles written by independent sources about your school. (Also, please note that your username indicates you have a clear conflict of interest with regard to this topic. Please consider requesting an article at WP:RFA rather than trying to create the article yourself.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:59, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

22:55:21, 10 January 2018 review of submission by VincentBudd[edit]

Could you please provide extra detail on why this has been rejected. I do not personally 'know' Paul Mann though I have interviewed him. I have written entries for other dictionaries (including Oxford Bibliographical Dictionary) and find it hard to know why this has been rejected when it could barely have been read in the time!

@VincentBudd: I thought my declining comment was fairly clear. Let me try to expand:
  1. Neutrality: Your article is written in a tone that tends to praise and promote Mann, rather than to simply narrate his biography. Writing at Wikipedia is much different than writing for other publications, and can seem dry and colorless to some who are more used to reading magazine profiles. I suggest you read some other featured biographies to see what I mean.
  2. Formatting: Wikipedia uses very specific syntax to format articles. Rather than creating headings explicitly, as
    1. Introduction
we create them using special Wiki syntax, as
    == Introduction ==
This will generate the table of contents automatically, so you don't need to create one manually.
(There are also issues with the list formats in the article, but let's concentrate on one thing at a time!)
  3. Citations should be included inline, using <ref>...</ref> tags directly following the fact in the article that the citation verifies. This allows other editors to check the citations to see if the text of the article accurately reflects the information presented in the sources. For more information about this, see Help:Citing sources.
I hope I've clarified my comments sufficiently. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 00:33, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Baltimore Choral Arts[edit]

The information I posted is copy that I wrote for our website and program books, as I am a staff member of Baltimore Choral Arts. Please let me know what actions you require to prove that I am currently with Baltimore Choral Arts.

Thank you,

Karena Ingram Baltimorechoralarts (talk) 16:45, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In regards to your username message, I just had another individual tell me to write in my username that I am a member of Baltimore Choral Arts, so who am I to believe in this situation? I am new to editing wikipedia, and I just want to update our organizations wikipedia page since the information is outdated and insufficient.

Karena Ingram Baltimorechoralarts (talk) 16:47, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Baltimorechoralarts: You may well have written the copy, but that does not mean that you own the copyright to the text. That belongs to the organization. There is a process for the organization to donate the copyrighted material to Wikipedia, thus allowing its publication here, but I would not recommend doing so. Copy you write for your website and program notes is promotional, as is appropriate for your own website. But promotional material has no place at Wikipedia (see WP:SPAM), so the copy you write for your own website is not appropriate for inclusion here. You are free to rewrite your copy to meet Wikipedia's neutrality standards, but also keep in mind that the material must be verifiable by citations to reliable independent sources. (I.e. you can't cite your own website as a source for your organization's history or the biographies of its directors.)
(edit conflict) PS: I did not send you the username message, but I would have had it not already been taken care of by another user. The point of the matter is that you may not use a username that indicates that multiple members of the Baltimore Choral Arts organization edit under that name. You may use username that indicates that you are an individual member of the organization. So, while "Baltimorechoralarts" is an invalid username, "BCA Member" or "BCA Media Director" or "BCA Jane" are valid usernames.
Finally, please note: if the BCA is paying you to write their Wikipedia article for them, you must disclose this fact. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:56, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Boots Jaffee[edit]

why is it that information about me on other information sites (GOOGLE) have information about me and my family yet Wikipedia continues to say I have no verifiable sources, I have even tried to add my name as well as my sisters to our mother's bio ( ODETTA )as we are her only children and when I try to add our names to the part the refers to persons attending her memorial I am denied....WHY
@Dr. boots: Your draft article has been rejected because it does not make a credible claim to notability. Your career as the pyrotechnics artist for the Grateful Dead, while surely important to you, does not appear to have garnered the attention of any serious journalists. And your draft does not cite any sources. I note that you have added the line:
Google articles "Boots Jaffee" Wikipedia article "Grateful Garcia Gathering" Movie creidts /Grateful Dead Movie/ fireworks/pyrotechnics
but this is not really a citation. It is up to you, as the draft writer, to do the homework to find the reliable sources that will verify your content. You might consider reading Referencing for Beginners for more information on how to find and add sources.
I will note that Wikipedia strongly discourages writing about yourself. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social media site. It is not really a place to write about yourself, but rather for others who have learned about you and consider you to be a notable person to then write an article about you.
As for your edits to the article about your mother, those have been reverted because the point of the sentence at hand is to note the notable attendees at her memorial. You and your sister were certainly (and expectedly) in attendance, but were not among the notable attendees.

-- WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:08, 23 January 2018 (UTC) i guess that your editors are too young or not rock ear savvy to remember me...and as far as Notables at the memorial."'Emory Joseph" is not as notable as I am in the industry and was at the memorial as a guest of my sister and no other reason....remove him or put me in ....if in fact you ONLY WANT NOTABLE PERSONS[reply]

@Dr. boots: I will admit that I'm not a huge fan of the Grateful Dead, and don't know much about their cult or culture. But I do know how to do a Google search, and a search for "Boots Jaffee" does not turn up any significant coverage. A LinkedIn page, a Google+ site, an article you wrote in remembrance of your mother, but nothing significant written about you by someone else. That is the bar for inclusion at Wikipedia. As for Emory Joseph: the New York Times obituary (here) found him significant enough to include in the list of people who sang at here memorial, so that's sufficient to allow that fact to remain. Notably, your attendance at the memorial was not mentioned. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:50, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Lisaowens: I've fixed the formatting of your draft. You've deleted the {{AFC}} template, so technically the draft is not pending review at this time. I declined the previous draft because it didn't cite any sources to verify that Tucold is a notable musician. I'm not sure that the sources you've linked to help the case; I don't know whether they'd be considered reliable sources or not, and I can't evaluate them at this time. Max Miecchi[edit]

Why should the references I used be wrong? I don't get it. IMDb is the BIBLE of cinema, and a very affordable source... — Preceding unsigned comment added by EvaMariaRamirez (talkcontribs)

@EvaMariaRamirez: I thought the comment I left when I declined your AFC submission was quite clear. At Wikipedia, IMDb is not considered a reliable source because its content is largely generated by its users, with little or no editorial oversight. (For further guidance, refer to Wikipedia:Citing IMDb.) I have seen many cases of IMDb entries that were wrong, or just outright hoaxes. I have tried to contact IMDb to have such entries removed, but they appear reluctant to take such measures. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:51, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Thomas Siffling[edit]

Hello,

and thank you for your feedback. In fact, I was just trying to create the English equivalent of my already existing article on German wikipedia "Thomas Siffling". Maybe this is not the best way to do it, but after reading through the help topics on this subject, it seemed the easiest/most understandable. However, any help in getting the English version published would be much appreciated!

Thanks Thomas Siffling (talk) 13:27, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Thomas Siffling: Rather than creating your own article here, I would suggest you work through the Requested Articles process. You could post a request that an independent editor review your German Wikipedia biography and see if it is suitable for inclusion here at en.wiki. (Remember, each language's Wikipedia is run by a different group of volunteers, and different guidelines evolve as to what is considered acceptable content. What might be acceptable at de.wiki might not be acceptable at en.wiki.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:13, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dan, I was notified, but i did not see it and i was not aware why somebody deleted my input all the time. That is why i put it there more times. I did not know, there is such a strict rule when I update an information which is correct and I provided external sources to prove it. It seems to me a strange approach, but ok, i accept it. there is nothing else i can do about it. Dan Ownby[edit]

Thanks for the feedback on the updated page for Dan Ownby. This is my first experience editing a page and I welcome your input to help ensure that I am providing adequate source information.

I added 2 links to the External Links section that I hope will help. The first is a link to the most recent annual report for the Boy Scouts of America. There is a listing at the end of this document showing Mr. Ownby as BSA's International Commissioner as well as a Board Member.

The second external link that I added was to include a recent tariff filing for the West Shore Pipe Line Company which lists Mr. Ownby as the President of that company.

Please let me know if there is additional information that I can provide to help ensure adequate source information.

GOCE February 2018 news[edit]

Guild of Copy Editors February 2018 News

Welcome to the February 2018 GOCE newsletter in which you will find Guild updates since the December edition. We got to a great start for the year, holding the backlog at nine months. 100 requests were submitted in the first 6 weeks of the year and were swiftly handled with an average completion time of 9 days.

Coordinator elections: In December, coordinators for the first half of 2018 were elected. Jonesey95 remained as lead coordinator and Corrine, Miniapolis and Tdslk as assistant coordinators. Keira1996 stepped down as assistant coordinator and was replaced by Reidgreg. Thanks to all who participated!

End of year reports were prepared for 2016 and 2017, providing a detailed look at the Guild's long-term progress.

January drive: We set out to remove April, May, and June 2017 from our backlog and all December 2017 Requests (a total of 275 articles). As with previous years, the January drive was an outstanding success and by the end of the month all but 57 of these articles were cleared. Officially, of the 38 who signed up, 21 editors recorded 259 copy edits (490,256 words).

February blitz: This one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 11 through 17 February, focusing on Requests and the last articles tagged in May 2017. At the end of the week there were only 14 pending requests, with none older than 20 days. Of the 11 who signed up, 10 editors completed 35 copy edits (98,538 words).

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: Jonesey95, Miniapolis, Corinne, Tdslk, and Reidgreg.

To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

@Boatsboatsboats: Well, it's apparently too late (Draft:ATLASAIL has already been deleted). You can try rewriting a new, less promotional draft, but your thoughts re: Apple Inc. are incorrect. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate list of everything that is, and comparing yourself to Apple Inc. (the largest corporation in the world, based on market capitalization) might be just a bit of a stretch. Please read WP:CORP to see if ATLASAIL really merits inclusion. I don't really get why my article is going to be deleted.[edit]

@ApartProgrammer: Hi WikiDan61, it's nice of you to leave a message saying that you are willing to talk.

As for my first article, I don't really get why it is nominated for deletion, which will probably be the case. There is another article on a similar website. I'm referring to Wenxuecity. Although Backchina is less popular, it surely does influence a lot of people in a similar way to Backchina. I realized that my article draft may have seemed too much like an advertisement. I apologize. I am quite new to writing on Wikipedia, despite having consulted it for so long! Let me know your thoughts.

@ApartProgrammer: I did not nominate your draft for deletion; that was @Serial Number 54129. All I did was decline your draft with suggestions for improvement. @123koalamaker: My apologies. I misunderstood the reference that you cited, which mentioned that four independent publishers were listed in the 2012 Polari Prize short list. Upon further searching, I find that the Polari Prize is given for first books that explore LGBT themes. That doesn't really change the point of the comment that I made at Draft:Max Wallis: that the prize is relatively obscure, and the source you provided does not even verify that Wallis was shortlisted. You'll need better claims of notability, and better sources to verify them, to get this article published. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:33, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Silence & Air[edit]

Hi Dan,

Article now edited to include references on the various subjects.

Let me know if there's anything else needed!

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gbormittah (talkcontribs) 14:47, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Gbormittah: Sorry. The single source that you've added (other than links to places where people can actually buy your music) appears to be an interview that you gave in order to sell your music. You are free to promote yourselves, but not at Wikipedia. We'll need stronger sourcing before this article can be accepted for publication. Please also note that users are strongly discouraged from writing about their own bands, projects, companies, etc.

Draft:Arthur Margoschis[edit]

Hi Dan

I have made some modifications to the draft article and cited references as you advised. Can you see my article again Draft:Arthur Margoschis and advise me if any further modifications to be made. by Johnson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnson.devaraj (talkcontribs)

@Johnson.devaraj: The text is better, but still not quite there yet. Text such as "A landmark church called St. John's church was developed in Nazareth, Tamil Nadu due to his untiring effort." is vague and not quite neutral. What specifically did Margoschis do to effect the construction of the church? Did he raise funds? Did he petition the higher church authorities? And the word "untiring" is rather subjective, and should be avoided.
The article still relies almost entirely on primary sources which are not generally considered reliable, especially histories of the Anglican missions written by the Anglican church itself in the early 1900s.
I encourage you to continue working on the draft; I believe there is the seed of an acceptable article there -- just not yet. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:51, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dan

I understand what you are trying to convey. I would like correct mistakes one at a time. Also, I have added a few sentences and some new references from old archives and websites. @Rescoffield: Yes. The message on your user talk page should be quite clear. Your article was deleted because it made no credible assertion that the Globe Rowing Club is a notable organization. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:31, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted[edit]

I've reverted you here. You are in a minority wanting to even keep the draft. The MfD is likely to end delete. Moving it to mainspace while the discussion is ongoing is not appropriate. If it closes as keep, feel free to do it then. TonyBallioni (talk) 13:40, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@TonyBallioni: Just took the advice of @DGG:. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:45, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I nearly edit-conflicted while reverting you.Anyways, I don't think that DGG advised anyone to main-space the draft in the middle of an active MFD but he could have definitely worded it better.Anyways, please don't cross-space drafts under active deletion discussions, in future.~ Winged BladesGodric 13:48, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I read it as him saying if it survived to promote it, but if he wasn't, this will be one of the few times I disagree with him. Accepting a draft four established editors want to delete at MfD to invalidate the MfD and force an AfD is gaming the system (and I know it wasn't your intent, or what David was suggesting, but that is what it accomplishes.) TonyBallioni (talk) 13:49, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was indeed saying that the place to discuss notability is AfD. I would never interfere with any good-fait attempt by an established editor to test an article at AfD. I'm trying not to complicate process, but to centralize decision making. DGG ( talk ) 17:00, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I got your message.

As per your instructions, I have kept around nine references this time around. I believe the references talk about my work independently.

Hope it helps.

@Authornaveedqazi: As of this version, your draft has nine explicit references:

  4. "Young Kashmiri writer releases 2 books". Rising Kashmir. Retrieved 2018-03-29.
This is an article about your book release, written by the website you write for; so, not independent.
  5. "naveedqazi". naveedqazi. Retrieved 2018-03-29.
    This is your own website.
  6. Qazi, Naveed. "The art of Graffiti in KashmirThe Kashmir Walla | The Kashmir Walla". thekashmirwalla.com. Retrieved 2018-03-29.
This is an article you wrote.

So, of the nine citations, none are actually independent. I believe you have some work to do. You should really review Wikipedia's guidelines on reliable sources and primary sources. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:48, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ICMPD edits[edit]

Dear WikiDan61, the edits that I have done are for an organisation that is working for a very good cause and people should know more about it. All the information had a reference link and is not promoting the organisation but simply gives a basic information. I would really appreciate if you could put back the changes, or explain what was the mistake or how is it different from changes made on other pages of international organisations that have a lot of basic information. Thank you very much! Lulu504 (talk) 08:03, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Lulu504: I'm sure the organization does excellent work, and interested readers can click on the link to the organization's website to learn all about it, but the information you added to the Wikipedia article was non-encyclopedic and promotional. Also, given that your only edits are to that particular article, following a series of edits from an unregistered IP that links to the organization, I am working on the presumption that you work for the organization, and should declare your conflict of interest prior to any further editing on the article. Deletion[edit]

Hello Dan, As far as I understood you were the one to delete my new page on demi-denims. Could you let me know why was that done so I can fix it? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andreyukjm (talkcontribs) 13:49, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Andreyukjm: Technically, I didn't delete it; I just converted it to a redirect, restoring the edit of an earlier editor. The problem is that this topic simply isn't notable enough for a standalone article yet. A garment, manufactured by a single designer, and creating something of a mini-trend for one fashion season, is not the kind of thing that needs to be covered with its own encyclopedia article. Read up on the guidelines at WP:N and WP:GNG. If you can show sufficient significant coverage for this topic, maybe it can be reconsidered. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:02, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61: I think you might have misunderstood the article. It's not about the garment, but about the cut. It has been produced for many seasons now, by a designer as well as a big high street fashion retailer. I will back it up better
@Andreyukjm: It was introduced 3 years ago. I don't know that I'd call that "many seasons", and it is still the creation of a single designer (whether or not she has found a retailer to carry the product). I didn't nominate the page for deletion, so you are free to restore the version you created. I'm not the final arbiter of Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:00, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 20:05:42, 3 April 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Nina07011960[edit]

Please keep in mind that most African-American classical musicians active in the 1940s and 50s were discriminated against, ignored by most white newspapers, and are hard to find. Few of the African-American newspapers of the day have uploaded their archives on the web. We are trying to correct this by submitting this article. Believe me, I have not included many tales of racism which kept Anne Gamble from the stage, tales which came from her own mouth. Nina07011960 (talk)

Nina07011960 (talk) 20:05, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nina07011960: You can reference newpapers that are not archived online, as long as they are archived somewhere that is accessible to the general public (a major public library, for example). But without evidence of significant coverage in independent media, the article does not meet Wikipedia's guidelines for inclusion. Creating a Wikipedia article is not the solution to a notability problem; the person must be notable before the article can be created. And as significant a role as Mrs. Kennedy may have played in the history of Fisk University, we would need evidence that she played a significant role beyond that institution. RedneckRomney Article Denied (Board of Commissioners of Bryan County v. Brown)[edit]

Hello,

If I am reading the denial email correctly, my article was not approved because it cites to the actual court "record" itself? Now, if this is the case, I find this rejection to be entirely inappropriate and completely at odds with the rules of legal scholarship.

First and foremost, the characterization that I am citing to a court "record" is incorrect. My citations were to the "OPINION" issued by none other than the Supreme Court of the United States. As such, this is the most powerful and most preferred type of citation in legal scholarship. Simply put, there is not a single source that trumps the words of the Supreme Court.

Additionally, I see no difference between a citation to a Supreme Court opinion and a citation to a federal statute. Much of the cases on Wikipedia link to a statute that the case arises under. How is the Court's interpretation of this statute not given the same weight as the text of the statute itself? In every sense, both of these are law, they merely come from different sources (one from the Supreme Court and the other from Congress).

Finally, in citing the OPINION, I made sure to provide specific page numbers for which my content could be found. This was not a generic citation that simply directed the reader to the case itself. On the contrary, my citations were to precise pages so that any questioning of the content would be swiftly put to rest.

I fully understand that Wikipedia has a strict policy regarding "reliable sources" and that my grievances are likely to fall on deaf ears. However, if Wikipedia truly wants to ensure its articles (especially those concerning court cases) are promulgated from the best primary sources, I believe it should rethink its policy. At the very least, Wikipedia should allow for court cases to include citations from the opinion itself; for it is the opinion that is actually the "primary source."

Thank you for your consideration of both my article and my thoughts in this message. If, as I expect to happen, the article will not be published until I add other sources, I will go back and make those changes accordingly. Have a great evening. RedneckRomney (talk) 03:03, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@RedneckRomney: Yes, if you were writing for a law journal, citing the legal opinions directly would be appropriate. But Wikipedia is not a law journal, and it relies not on primary sources (court opinions) but rather on secondary analyses of those opinions (see WP:RSLAW and WP:PS). Otherwise, we are left to your interpretation of the opinions, which would constitute original research. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:56, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Gerald Murray (Talent manager) for deletion[edit]

Hello WikiDan61,

Your point of view of Murray and keeping with Wikipedia content compliance and source references is completely understood and respected.

Murray is among the many behind the scenes individuals and/or missing pieces of American music industry history, who have contributed to the successes of recording artists, and have forged a solid path in their own right and careers. Yet, have unfortunately received little to no print publicity or notoriety compared to those whom they helped to place in forefront of media and press. This includes talent managers, A&R personnel, music producers, executive producers, and record company promotion personnel. Not to get off track, but merely as an example, over my personal career thus far, I too have been a contributor to the successes of a plethora of recording artists including Ray Charles, Mary J Blige, Will Smith, The Rolling Stones, and to record label personnel, but one would be very hard pressed to find verifiable print or web references to that fact other than my personal biography/resume, from the mouths of the artists themselves, and those who know this to be true.

The reference sources presented and used with regard to Murray, are to the extent of what I can find to date. Many hours has been spent searching newspaper archives, and am still researching. Essentially, I'm in a loop with other music industry people who share the same interests in the lessor know individuals in music, who have in fact made an impact in one way or another, to and for the music industry. Murray's background and story came up via conversations. Being a person who has worked professionally in the music industry for over fifty years, and one who seeks out those termed as, the unsung heroes in the music industry, Murray peaked my interest. Especially since he is another piece of the unwritten historic music scene in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. His story goes deeper than what is proposed in the article with associations to Waylon Jennings, CBS Records, hit songwriters Max T. Barnes, James LeBlanc, and others. Some of those people contained in the first draft of Murray's article of which were removed, appeared to be reading as an advertisement of, or for Murray, by the way I was presenting them in the article, of which I have no intention, benefit, nor need to do.

I am open to any and all suggestions that might help in reframing the article, and obtaining acceptable reference sources to possibly defer its deletion.

Expressing sincere thanks for your time and energy thus far. It is obvious you are a very busy person and definitely on top of your game.

User:mediaman770 (User talk:mediaman770) 17:01, 04 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Mediaman770: While it may be unfortunate that many people toil in the music industry unnoticed, it is certainly not the place of Wikipedia to right that wrong. We can only go by the guidelines as they exist, which, in the current case, would be WP:BIO and WP:GNG. Boiled down to a sentence, the guidelines state that a person must have been the topic of multiple instances of significant, independent coverage. So, if someone chose to write an entire article about Murray and his career in a magazine that was not his own hometown paper, that would be significant. Unfortunately, Murray appears to be notable solely for having been (and then quit as) George Jones' manager. There might be room in the Jones article for a brief sentence about him, but nothing more. Managing notable talent is not, in itself, notable. Again, if anyone has written about Murray's career (if he was an outstanding manager whose managerial skills actually changed the course of his clients' careers, someone has probably written about that other than Murray himself), let us know -- that might change the course of the deletion discussion. But, as you have said, Murray is one of the "unsung heroes" -- and if no one has "sung" his praises yet, we don't have the necessary sources to do so here.WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:14, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I shall continue the research to see if I can find more detailed information. Your time in reply and advice is "truly appreciated." Have a great day. User:mediaman770 (User talk:mediaman770) 17:35, 04 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Anne Gamble Kennedy Article[edit]

WikiDan61: This is especially for you! https://www.facebook.com/ScandalABC/videos/2040449452651493/UzpfSTEzOTgxMzU0NjQ6MTAyMTY0Mzg1MzQzMDE0MTQ/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nina07011960 (talkcontribs) 17:57, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WikiDan61: Part of the problem with finding records on Anne Gamble Kennedy is that some newspapers mis-spelled her name. Sometimes they left the "e" off of her first name. I have added more references. This was an African-American woman who was concertizing in the segregated South in the 1940s and 50s. Often her work was not mentioned in white publications. Please keep this in mind while considering her "notability." Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nina07011960 (talkcontribs) 17:46, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nina07011960: It is unfortunate that her talents were not recognized by the press of her time, but Wikipedia can't right that wrong. If there are no sources, there are no sources. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:17, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have added more sources - one from the LA Times and a few from newspapers.com. If you are an American, you MUST understand the injustices suffered by African-Americans in the 20th century, and do all that you can to correct those wrongs. It is up to us to make sure that our history isn't lost by "revisionist historians." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nina07011960 (talkcontribs) 19:31, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nina07011960: I do understand the injustices, but again, Wikipedia in 2018 cannot undo those unjustices. The sources you've added (in particular, the LA Times article, but the others as well so far as I'm able to read them on the newspapers.com site) barely mention Mrs. Kennedy. The LA Times article, in particular, states, "[Matthew Kennedy's] wife, Ann Gamble Kennedy, is the group's pianist." That's it. One sentence barely mentioning her. I feel bad for you that you can't find more sources, and for Mrs. Kennedy that her career may have been underappreciated. But that doesn't change Wikipedia policy. I recommend that you seek help from appropriate WikiProjects. Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians or Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red might be able to help. @Nina07011960: Newspaper.com references are fine; I just don't have a subscription so I'm not sure I'm seeing all of the text, but from what I can tell, they do not comprise significant coverage (more "Ann Gamble Kennedy is the group's accompanist" type of coverage). Also, please post new messages at the bottom of the page, so that the dialogue reads in proper chronological order. Thanks! WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:18, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have shared my difficulties with the Fisk University National Alumni Association, and they are waiting to see this article on Wikipedia. Her hundreds of piano students are also waiting. Fisk University is an HBCU, so you may not have seen the kind of coverage of it that you are used to for other (white) colleges and universities, but Fisk has a rich, international history. Wikipedia is doing itself a disservice by not including this article. Nina07011960 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:04, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nina07011960: Once again, I will state that I fully understand the problem that Black artists in this country (especially in the mid-1900s) were under-represented and under-reported. That is a tragedy. But it is not a tragedy Wikipedia can fix. I also note that you may have a conflict of interest related to this subject (noting that your contributions to Wikipedia thus far have concentrated largely on biographies of Matthew Washington Kennedy, Nina Gamble Kennedy, and now this draft -- all three members of the same family). Your loyalty is laudible, but I can't change Wikipedia policy. That being said, the entire discussion about your draft has been between you and me. You are free to simply publish your draft on your own (be bold). I will likely nominate it for deletion at that point, but then the discussion will get a much wider audience, and other voices than mine will get to weigh in on whether or not this subject merits inclusion at Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:20, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well, these articles are long overdue. One of her former students has said, "The people at Wikipedia should be ashamed of themselves for not publishing this article." By invalidating her, you invalidate her students. Nina07011960 (talk)

@Nina07011960: I think we're done here. You want the article because you think the world needs it; I don't think the article merits inclusion because there are insufficient sources. You and I are not going to agree on this, so we'll have to agree to disagree. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:04, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi WikiDan61, what is it that is missing in my article? Please make me understand, I have cited several references but still is rejected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnkizito (talkcontribs) 21:50, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Johnkizito: What's missing is evidence of notability. Kizito seems to have garnered attention for being the youngest FIBA-licensed agent in Belgium. That's a pretty niche-level claim to notability. I'd like to see Kizito covered for more general accomplishments rather than just youth. That's just one man's opinion though. Others may differ.
