Re:Porn Wikileaks

Yes - I think you are probably right. The whole thing is a bad situation - I suspect it's the people who were outed by the site who are probably trying to retaliate against the people who outed them. I'm sympathetic to the people who were outed, but we can't be party to a revenge drama. Do you know an oversighter, or I can take it to RFO?--Kubigula (talk) 17:09, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

MSU Interview

Dear WikiLeon,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

 • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
 • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
 • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
 • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
 • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar — Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.9.115.210 (talk) 21:50, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Make administrator topicon output conditional

Hi. The output of the administrator topicon should be conditional at User:WikiLeon/header. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Konsulromanum&oldid=392743319 uses this template () and that user is not an admin, causing misidentification. Adding an {admin} parameter should address this. --MZMcBride (talk) 01:07, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Odd request, but Done subject to change upon WikiLeon's discretion to however he would like to address the issue. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 01:30, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 14:26, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Ichthus: May 2012

ICHTHUS

May 2012

From the Editor

This month marks the observation of Pentecost, one of the most important feast of the Christian liturgical year. It is our hope here that all of you, regardless of your religious affiliation (if any), find that the holiday, and its accompanying activities, an enjoyable and beneficial experience. We also hope that this "Birthday of the Church" is one which gives you the same joy as the birthday of yourself or your loved ones.

Ichthus is the successor to the long running WikiProject Christianity newsletter, run under the WikiProject Christianity’s Outreach department. As such, you will continue to see information about our latest featured and good articles, DYKs, as well as new members who have joined our project. You might also see links to Christianity related news from the mainstream media!

With that, I wish you all happy reading!

John Carter, Asst. Editor

P.S. Please click here to add the new Christianity-related topics Noticeboard to your watchlist to follow the latest discussions relevant to WikiProject Christianity and subprojects.

Help Bring Wikipe-tan "into the fold"

As many of you may know, our unofficial mascot, dear Wikipe-tan, hasn't yet indicated any particular beliefs. However, yes, as we all know, ahem, some people might object to our beloved mascot running around in a French maid outfit. People do talk, you know. ;) If anyone might be able to develop an image of the dear lady in a image more, well, "Christian," I would like to see perhaps a vote for next month as to which, if any, image of the dear girl we might make our own unofficial mascot. Please post your images here.

Christianity in other wikis

As many of you might now, there are a large number of other Wikimedia Foundation projects, including WikiSource, Wiktionary, Wikibooks, WikiQuote, and others. I certainly believe that Wikibooks and Wikiquote might be among the more directly relevant sister projects. If any of you can think of any particular efforts in these other projects which you think would benefit from more input, please let us know here, so we can help spread the word around.

By John Carter

Spotlight on the Outreach department

Ichthus will spotlight a different subproject or workgroup of WikiProject Christianity. This edition will spotlight on our vital Outreach department. This comparatively small, but vital, project unit is dedicated to welcoming new editors to Wikipedia and the Christianity related content, and to providing information to the various project members, in forms like this newsletter.

The scope of articles with which this group deals is truly enormous, and, given the wide variety of material with which we deal, we would very much welcome the input of more individuals, particularly individuals who are particularly knowledgeable of the less well-known and less frequently monitored articles related to Christianity.

Speaking personally, I would be very, very gratified if we were to have this become a very, very large and active unit, with members from the broad spectrum of Christian beliefs, practices, and groups. The broader the spectrum and areas of expertise of members we have, the better we will be able to help manage the content. Please consider whether you believe you might be able to contribute in this vital area.

... in the statements contained in the Nicene Creed. I believe that the Bible is one of the two defining bases for belief. The other is the Sacred tradition, which provides us with means of interpreting the Scriptures, as well as some teachings which have been handed on by God outside of the scriptures. A tag has been placed on File:Opera Mini 7.5 screenshot.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Orphaned non-free media (File:American Canyon Transit logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:American Canyon Transit logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. fact tag usage

Hi, WikiLeon. I noticed this edit you made on the California State Route 37 article incorrectly uses the fact template. You put the material needing citation inside the template as a parameter. That's incorrect. The template should go after the material. The template supports a "reason=" parameter where you can give a reason why you are tagging the material, but that parameter should not be the material itself, which it defaulted to in this case. The "reason=" ought to be used otherwise the page ends up in Category:Pages containing citation needed template with deprecated parameters. Alternatively, you can use the citation needed span template if you wish to highlight the questioned material. I will use this later approach on the article. Cheers, Jason Quinn (talk) 04:24, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks. I thought citation needed span was merged. --wL<speak·check> 05:15, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Paul Schwartz (politician) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • Paul Schwartz (born 1 April 1940, București is the current president of the Jewish Community of [[
 • {[stub}}

Deletion of Louis L. Carter

Hi, I worked on the article previously. I updated the article based on the comments and added few additional references to support the article.

Here are few references that belong to secondary sites that may be acceptable: I would like to re-write the article and post using the below references.

 • www.johnsmilitaryhistory.com/Vandergriff_Officers_Briefing.ppt‎

Also the following wikipedia articles have mentioned Louis

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_Goldsmith‎ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organization_development http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leadership_development

Any additional feedback would be great! I will only want to whats right!

Thanks in advance! Pilot03 (talk) 00:34, 29 June 2013 (UTC)Pilot03

Deletion of Miss Asian Global/America

Hi WikiLeon,

We would like to consult with you on a recent deletion of the Miss Asian Global/America page, and we saw the below notations by you:

16:25, 27 June 2013 WikiLeon (talk | contribs) deleted page Talk:Miss Asian America (G8: Talk page of deleted page. (CSDH)) 16:25, 27 June 2013 WikiLeon (talk | contribs) deleted page Miss Asian America (A7: No indication that the article may meet the guidelines for inclusion (CSDH))

We just want to clarify with you on a possible mistake on this deletion because we are not spamming or an organization that performs illegal or wrong practices.

Our organization is a licensed not-for-profit organization that contributes to local community-based organizations. We have recently expanded to our sister event "Miss Asian Global" while sticking to our original brand "Miss Asian America" for over 25 years. We also have a valid homepage www.missasianamerica.org.

In addition, this page is linked to other pages such as the Miss Sing Tao Pageant, Miss New York Chinese Pageant, former winner and television actress Gwendoline Yeo, former winner and Hong Kong television actress Fala Chen, and more that supports our credibility.

We hope you can reconsider by undoing the deletion. We look forward to discuss with you further on this matter, and we are more than happy to provide more information on content to meet Wikipedia's criteria, is necessary.

Thanks Miss Asian Global/America Organization — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.14.43.18 (talk) 20:14, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Another article called Miss Asia Pageant North America is now on Wikipedia. Is this the article you wish to have restored? --wL<speak·check> 03:21, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

Today's motto...

You can safely assume that you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do. === November ===

Nominate one today!

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).

Thanks for uploading File:Justin.tv screenshot.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

HasteurBot CSDs

Hi there, couple points:

 1. The hasteurBot talk page is fully protected to prevent users (like yourself) from accidentally sending messages that will not be read by an automated process. Please undo your additions to the page.
 2. CSD:G13 says any page that has not been edited in the past 6 months prior to the nomination so as to indicate that nominating a page does not instantly make the page ineligible.
 3. The bot takes the even more safe position of only nominating pages that have gone unedited for 6 months + 30 more days to give editors more time to try and save their work by logging a single registered edit.
 4. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dual-Purpose Cowpea was eligible for G13 as of the nomination as the previous edit prior to the G13 nomination was July 3rd 2014 which makes it at least 6 months and 30 days stale.
 5. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Fiona Finlay was eligible for G13 as of the nomination as the previous edit prior to the G13 nomination was July 6, 2014 which makes it 6 months and 30 days stale.

If you hare having difficulty with understanding the policy and practice of CSD:G13 either ask questions or stay away from evaluating CSD:G13 nominations. If this behavior of turning down perfectly valid G13 nominations continues I will ask other admins who have evaluated these nominations in the past (such as DGG and Sphilbrick) to help enlighten you on the policy. Hasteur (talk) 11:44, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Duly noted. I must have misread the timestamps from DGG's reviews on both AfCs. My apologies. --wL<speak·check> 12:33, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
