Permission to use an Images[edit]

Hi Willow

I have seen the images of double point knitting needles and wale slip stitch that you have uploaded to Wikipedia which I would like to include in a textile text book which I have written and am requesting your permission to use them. As much as the commons licence implies the images can be used my publisher wants written permission from the owner of an image.

I look forward to hearing from you

Regards Bev's Book (talk) 15:03, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Bev' book[reply]

Dear Bev,
Sorry to be so tardy in replying and perhaps the point is now moot, but of course you have my permission to use my image. Good luck and viva la knitting! :) Willow (talk) 07:12, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Article on the dihedral angle[edit]

Hi I did quite a bit of editing on dihedral angle but I also noticed that your picture does not follow the IUPAC Gold Book (you seem to look at it from the back , so in fact it gives the same angle, only I think it could make it all confusing (and it is allready confusing enough I think :) , I think we should just follow the Gold book. Could you make an image that does follow the Gold book, and also could you check the 'chemical' parts of the page? Thanks in advance WillemienH (talk) 19:37, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear TenPoundHammer,
I have no objections to its deletion. When I first created the template in 2007,
Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Plants/Archive14#Algae_taxonomies_from_NCBI
it was intended to earmark taxonomic articles that needed better sourcing and to collect them in a single category an a convenient work-list. That re-sourcing has been happily accomplished in the past ten years! So the template isn't needed anymore. Fond hellos and best wishes to all Wikipedians, Willow (talk) 07:04, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Acidococcus has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This genus doesn't seem to exist and its unclear it ever did. There is no entry on the NCBI taxonomy page (the reference points to a "no results for that query" page), the external links to pubmed search et al reveal no results. It doesn't seem to be in Desulfurococcaceae in LPSN (a common taxonomy of bacteria resource). Best I can tell, it is mentioned only once in [dx.doi.org/10.1080/01490451.2010.520075 this paper], which I assume was a mistake... So I think this is a rare example of a genus article that's best deleted...

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. A tag has been placed on Category:Type of residence user templates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Hello from a fellow Wikipedian interested in WikiProject Textile Arts[edit]

Hello WillowW. I'm reaching out because I see that you created Wikipedia:WikiProject Textile Arts back in 2007. Would you mind if I did some maintenance? I've started archiving links to inactive project pages and providing current suggestions of what participants can do — apologies for not checking in with you first! If you're still active here on Wikipedia, would be glad for the chance to collaborate on this WikiProject. Enby (talk) 21:17, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Enby,
On the contrary, I'm delighted to hear that others are taking WP:TA higher and better — please do, with my blessing, and thank you for inspiring others to do likewise!
When I started WP:TA, I had high dreams and did the best I could with the technical skills and equipment I had back then. But I was all too aware of my shortcomings and of how much there was left to do and improve. Software and cameras have improved dramatically in the past 13 years! :) My life has also changed considerably and, alas, I won't find the time to do serious editing in the near future. But I will stop by now and then and make a contribution.
One small favor: I started dozens and dozens of textile articles, mostly technical ones about various techniques and principles of knitting. I was, however, surprised by one particular article that seemed to arouse strong negative emotions in some editors who otherwise had no interest in textiles: the Sweater curse. I find the topic charming and notable enough for WP, which is why I documented it. If you could watchlist it, keep an eye on it, or perhaps even improve it or add some more up-to-date sources, I would be very grateful to you. The poor article is admittedly not in the best shape, but it could yet be much improved, I believe. Thank you and good luck in everything! Willow
Willow, this article has made my day. "Charming" is just the right word. A quick Google turns up some more recent sources that look promising. I'll gladly add to Sweater curse and keep an eye on it. Looking forward to seeing you over at WP:TA whenever you're able to drop in! Thanks for the encouragement. Enby (talk) 20:42, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
