Sorry, you did put the hangon tag in the right place. Bubba hotep 20:33, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

re your addition to the Jamie Lee Curtis article

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions, including your edit to Jamie Lee Curtis. However, please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not be libelous. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Needleconan.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Needleconan.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:14, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Greenlee Smythe

Hello, Wlmg. This link...[1]...in the Greenlee Smythe article isn't a vandalism reference. It's a book that documents Greenlee's role as a villainess, not just homosexuality on All My Children. Thus I've returned that reference. Flyer22 (talk) 18:27, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

The other reference you removed wasn't a vandalism reference either, but I may replace that one with another reference in that article that provides the same information. Flyer22 (talk) 18:29, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Here. Flyer22 (talk) 18:56, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
I suppose I don't have to tell you to keep checking my talk page for further discussion of this. Flyer22 (talk) 19:40, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Needleconan.JPG

Thank you for uploading Image:Needleconan.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:33, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Yosef Ben-Jochannan

Hello Wlmg:

I noticed your revert on the article Yosef Ben-Jochannan where you changed 'formally educated' back to 'claims to have been educated'.

I'm posting here because I'm interested to learn more about this unusual article.

I'm curious how large a credibility gap Yosef Ben-Jochannan has developed to have the article say 'claims to have been educated' and 'claims to be the son of'.

It seems to me there is sort of a double requirement for sources in order to say someone "claims to be ABC". A source to verify that the person has made the claim and also a source that casts serious doubt on the claim. If someone claims to be ABC and there is nothing that throws doubt on that claim, the normal wording would be (I think) that "they are ABC", not that "they claim to be ABC". (Ie, assuming good faith unless there is contradicting evidence.)

The reference says he misrepresents himself as an Egyptologist. Nothing about his ethnic heritage.

As I say, I'm curious about this.

Any light you can throw on the matter would be appreciated.

Greenlee's Picture

The reason I change the picture to the promo shot since other soaps are moving toward these types of picture. One reason is because they are having clearer, more descriptive, higher resolution instead of lower quality screenshots. Most pages are being like this , such as The Young and the Restless (i.e. Heather Stevens and Sharon Abbott), The Bold and the Beautiful (i.e. Bridget Forrester, Donna Forrester), Days of our Lives (i.e. E.J. DiMera and Max Brady), and some on All My Children (i.e. Kendall Hart, and Krystal Carey). Candyo32 (talk) 23:12, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I see that the picture from the ABC site has Rebecca Budig's name in large type, and Greenlee Smythe is in a much smaller font. Imho it does not illustrate the character Greenlee per se. There are other pics from the source that have Greenlee working at Fusion. That would be an unequivocal picture of Greenlee the same as a screen shot is. Fair use wikipedia pics are supposed to be low-res, so a high-res pic of Budig or Greenlee is a violation of wikipedia policy. Wlmg (talk) 03:48, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Candyo32, that's still a promotional shot, no matter whether it's more so of Greenlee or Rebecca. I don't have a problem with you using promotional headshots for the main picture, but Wlmg has a point about which rationale, promotional or screenshots, is the strongest.
Oh, and I agree that there has got to be a better promotional headshot of Greenlee than that. It does not have to be from 2008 either. She still looks the same from however long she's been on this show. Until that "right" promotional headshot is found, the screenshot that is there now should remain. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Fictional Femme Fatales, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Fictional Femme Fatales was previously deleted as a result of an articles for deletion (or another XfD)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Fictional Femme Fatales, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Supercouple articles on Wikipedia must be of couples that have actually been deemed supercouples by most fans and the media, which is attributed to valid references proving such; these articles must show that these couples are notable.

For soap opera, for example, they must show that the couple has had a significant impact on the soap opera medium, as well as outside of it. Any soap opera couple or supercouple article that does not show that will be deleted from Wikipedia sooner or later. Likewise, the List of fictional supercouples article can only contain couples who are proven to be supercouples by valid references (the sources you see in that article). This is why I have reverted or tweaked your edits relating to the topic of supercouple. Flyer22 (talk) 21:52, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Ghauri missile nickname

Since you nor I can find a good reference for the missile's nickname, do you mind if I just comment out that line? If there is no reliable reference then the info can't be verified, and the text under the edit window clearly states "encyclopedic content must be verifiable".--Hj108 (talk) 21:32, 5 April 2010 (UTC) I've supplied a valid reference. References that are within paid archives are still valid references. A reference need not be readily viewable i.e. many wikipedia articles have references to books that haven't been digitized. Disie Carter Article.

wlmg,

please stop vandalizing this page. I have been a follower and fan of Dixie Carter, and changinmg her name to Johnny repepatedly and adding unverifiable/incorrect information is not funny to anyone but you. Please refrain from making irresponsible changes to pages on this system. --- wbp —Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.4.176.145 (talk) 14:53, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

IP. I have no idea what you are talking about. I didn't make the destructive edits you say I did. I added a cited reference about her HGH use and reverted edits of other sourced material about her relations with gays that had been deleted. As the article stands now my edits are still there. I didn't change her name to Johnny so direct your attentions elsewhere.

Wlmg (talk) 21:28, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Elizabeth Wurtzel

Uhm, that is not vandalism. Category:Jewish American writers is a sub category to Category:American Jews, hence making "American Jews" a superfluous category. I do not appreciate your condescending tone. Nymf hideliho! 19:35, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Also, see this: Wikipedia:Categorization#Categorizing_pages. Second paragraph. Nymf hideliho! 23:39, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Since it is clear to me that you do not wish to discuss this, I'll just go ahead and revert it again. Nymf hideliho! 10:36, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia conventions for article layout, etc.

Hi. Seeing your recent work at articles like DeSisto School, it occurred to me that you might appreciate some pointers to refresh your memory about Wikipedia conventions for various aspects of article development:

Application of this guidance would enhance the articles you've been working on (and likely would be more satisfying for you than having someone else come in and "clean up" the articles that most interest you). --Orlady (talk) 03:49, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. —DoRD (talk) 17:11, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi there. We no longer use those empty images in articles to request images. If you find an article lacking an image of a person, you can request an image via the talk page through the WPBiography Wikiproject template found here (just put in "yes" in the needs-photo parameter). That will add the article to the "Actors needing an image" category for the project. Pinkadelica 00:32, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure why you made this comment, but it is highly inappropriate! Calling him a socio path and then accusing him of having numerous socks etc. not good! I'd encourage you to retract that --Errant [tmorton166] (chat!) 08:21, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

I came here to issue a major warning, and perhaps a block if warranted by past warnings - retraction would be a mere start. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 08:56, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

I retracted the comment. I agree it was a very bad idea. I got caught up in the frenzy. It shall not happen again. Wlmg (talk) 10:58, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

We use WP:Strikethrough to retract, not WP:REFACTOR :-) (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:39, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Ok I put it back in with strikethrough. I didn't know that rule.Wlmg (talk) 11:54, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

I wasn't 'inseting' patent nonsense into the article. It was already there. 'Mt', according to the referenced article, is the abbreviation for million metric tons. --71.214.221.164 (talk) 00:00, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

No perfect answer, but...

I see this as a case of passive-aggressive behavior, online. I think this is the best advice, to the extent that it's possible to do that. --Orlady (talk) 21:27, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. I think I'm already doing that with my bare bones mechanical responses, but apparently that's enough for the editor to continue to prattle on. I shall ignore her entirely. Wlmg (talk) 21:40, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi. "Trivia" is a nono word on wikipedia. We are an encyclopedia. You'll find various tags for trivia adhering to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trivia sections). As his article is a GOOD article it should certainly not have a trivia section. Some of the information is borderline trivia but may be useful to the reader so may be termed "other". So we name the section "other" or "miscellaneous". I hope you understand better now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:06, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
