Dear Woodstop45,

I didn't think that a page had to "say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia" to be included in WP, as that's a pretty subjective and unspecific requirement. For example, there are many things included in a biochemistry encyclopedia that are too specific for the Encyclopedia Britannica (e.g. the EPRS gene). Explaining why every topic was important would be an unnecessary use of resources. That's why WP:A7 and WP:A9 are for specific categories.

The beauty of WP is that it is a) searchable and b) linked by cross-references. This means that very specific entries do not get underfoot, when they most certainly would, and hence are inappropriate for inclusion, in a traditional physical encyclopedia.

The reason that I have contested your deletion is as follows:

• Though a very narrow facet of organic chemistry, aminoacyl groups are an important aspect of protein synthesis and tRNA charging—and that's just one example of their importance.
• Many (if not most) articles on WP do not state the reason for their importance. Said importance is evident to the user searching the topic. A good example is the hydroxybutyric acid page. Anyone interested in the subject knows that α-hydroxybutyrate analysis is an aspect of diabetes diagnosis, but to an "uninitiated" user, the hydroxybutyric acid page probably looks pretty useless.
• Because aminoacyl groups are important to some users, and a page does not need to state its raison d'etre, this page should remain un-deleted.

Please review the WP:SPEEDY, specifically the WP:ACSD section.

Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Valeria Baroni. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!!
