December 2014[edit]

Why is the listing of the Athlon Sports All-America team removed? They are a reputable source. What determines what selectors are used and which are not?

Athlon was not used before last year, so it should be discussed at Wikipedia:WikiProject College football.--Yankees10 17:45, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying it's not allowed it's just that they weren't used before (Athlon prior to 2013) so it would be best to discuss before adding. You can go to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College football to start a discussion if you'd like.--Yankees10 00:06, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the work you do and the suggestion. I'll add it as a discussion point -- wscsuperfan 19:31, 18 December 2014
Same thing with Phil Steele. it needs to be discussed first.--Yankees10 18:04, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Standings[edit]

You really shouldn't update the standings table until the game is over. I see you've added the OSU result, but there are still 21 seconds left in this game as I write this. The encyclopedia should reflect reality, and for a few minutes, people are going to see a standings table that is not accurate. MrArticleOne (talk) 03:25, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 2015 College Football All-America Team, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2014 College Football All-America Team. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 23:30, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2017 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team[edit]

Please exercise caution when copying and pasting text directly from outside sources. In almost all instances this is a copyright violation. The article's text (http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=211665076) can be used and cited in the article, but the content must be re-written in your own words. Additionally, when adding text be sure that it follows a neutral point of view. The huskers.com article, obviously, has a bias towards Nebraska. If you have any questions, or need help with this, please let me know. BarkeepChat 14:09, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nebraska edits[edit]

Hi, I reverted your revised formatting of the "Head coaches" section and added a citation. We generally don't use individual columns for head coach data such as W–L–T data, as it makes the records very hard to read. You can see reflected consistently throughout "Head coaches" sections in FBS team articles, see List of NCAA Division I FBS football programs. Also, the new Nebraska Cornhuskers football#Series records section is unsourced and undated. This new section has been tagged accordingly. Also note, W–L records (and game scores) are separated with a wider – (en dash) rather than a narrow - (hyphen). Ex, 10–1, 21–17 vs 10-1, 21-17. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2022 College Football All-America Team requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://allteamchoices.blogspot.com/2018/03/2017-college-football-all-america-team.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wscsuperfan, please stop putting external links in the body of the articles, as you just did at 2023 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. UCO2009bluejay just mentioned this a few days ago at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College football. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 17:57, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why? The source column added is the exact same link as what was in the score column. I don't see what the issue is.Wscsuperfan (talk) 14:25, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The issue that it's inappropriate formatting. As Wikipedia:External links states, "External links normally should not be placed in the body of an article". There's a difference between an in-line citation and an external link in the body of an article. Furthermore, the proper way to make a citation is not just with a URL, but with a citation template that contains information about the source. See my most recent at 2023 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 04:51, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
