Ο Σεμπάστιαν Μπιένιεκ ( Sebastian Bieniek) γεννημένος την 24η Απριλίου 1975 στην πόλη Czarnowanz της Πολωνίας, είναι γερμανός ζωγράφος, φωτογράφος, συγγραφέας, ηθοποιός και σκηνοθέτης του γερμανικού κινηματογράφου. Μέχρι το 1989 έζησε στην επαρχία Opole. Το 1989 μετανάστευσε στη Δυτική Γερμανία, σε ηλικία 13 ετών. Το 1994 Sebastian Bieniek καταγράφηκε ως ο χρόνος το νεότερο μέλος της Ομοσπονδιακής Ένωσης των Καλλιτεχνών. Μέχρι τότε, το έργο του αποτελείται κυρίως από έργα ζωγραφικής.

Το 1996 ξεκίνησε τις σπουδές του στην Ακαδημία Τέχνης στο Braunschweig (HBK Braunschweig) με τον John M. Armleder και για σύντομο χρονικό διάστημα με την Μαρίνα Αμπράμοβιτς.  Από το 1998, συνέχισε τις σπουδές του στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών στο Δυτικό Βερολίνο (UdK Βερολίνου) υπό την επίβλεψη της Katharina Sieverdig, όπου ολοκλήρωσε τις μεταπτυχιακές του σπουδές. Έκτοτε ζει στο Βερολίνο.

Το 1999 ο καλλιτέχνης συμμετείχε στο «3ο φεστιβάλ νέων πειραματικής τέχνης» στο Βερολίνο, με το περφόρμανς «χέρι χωρίς σώμα» στο οποίο το χέρι του ήταν ενσωματωμένο σε μια λευκή στήλη και κοβόταν ημερισίως για 16 ημέρες με ξυράφι [2]. Μέχρι το 2002 ο Bieniek συμμετάσχει σε πολλές εκθέσεις στο εσωτερικό και στο εξωτερικό [3]

Το 2001 έλαβε υποτροφία για πρακτική άσκσηση από το Γραφείο γερμανο-γαλλικής νεολαίας (DFJW) στο Rennes [4]. Στο μεταξύ, αποσκίρτησε από τη ζωγραφική και μετατόπισε το ενδιαφέρον του για την τέχνη του performance (performance art), την εννοιολογική τέχνη και την τέχνη του βίντεο. Από το 2002 άρχισε να σκηνοθετεί στη Γερμανική Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου και τηλεόρασης στο Βερολίνο (D.F.F.B.), ταυτόχρονα με τις σπουδές του. Το 2007 ίδρυσε την κινηματογραφική παραγωγή TENLETTERS [5] με την οποία δημιούργησε την «no budget» ταινία «Οι παίκτες» (Die Spieler), η οποία είναι η πιό χαμηλού προϋπολογισμού ταινία που έλαβε ποτέ μέρος σε φεστιβάλ Α τύπου (Διεθνές φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου στη Σαγκάη). Από τότε παρουσιάστηκε στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Καΐρου, στο Παγκόσμιο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου και στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου της Mar del Plata. Βραβεύτηκε με τον τίτλο «πολύτιμης» ταινίας από το Συμβούλιο Εξέτασης Ταινιών του Βισμπάντεν. Από το 2008 ο Sebastian Bieniek ζωγραφίζει ξανά. Ζωγραφίζει σειρές από έργα που αποτελούνται πάνω από τριάντα πίνακες. Η κάθε σειρά, χαρακτηρίζεται από ένα συγκεκριμένο θέμα ή ιδέα. Από τις πιο γνωστές σειρές είναι οι εξής: «Αρκούδα» (Bärenreihe, 2009), «Οι φαν μου του Facebook» (my Facebook fans, 2009), «Εσωτερικής Ασφάλειας» (Homeland Security, 2012) και «Περιστροφή Πινέλου» (Brush Rotations, 2013). Παράλληλα με τη ζωγραφική, ο καλλιτέχνης ασχολείται με την τέχνη της performance. Έτσι, το 2009 διοργάνωσε παράσταση με το όνομα «Burqa» [6] στο Art Forum του Βερολίνου όπου παρουσιάστηκε ο ίδιος και ένας συνεργάτης ντυμένοι με μια μπούργκα. Το 2010 έγραψε ένα βιβλίο με τον τίτλο «Realfake». [7] Το βιβλίο ασχολείται με τον σχηματισμό ομάδων στο πλαίσιο των κοινωνικών δικτύων (κυρίως του Facebook) και παράγει κάποιες θεωρίες. Το βιβλίο θεωρείται ένα σημαντικό έργο σχετικά με τον κοινωνικό ιστό και την τέχνη. [8]

Το Σεπτέμβριο του 2013 ο Sebastian Bieniek γίνεται γνωστός σε μεγάλη μερίδα του κόσμου με τη σειρά φωτογραφιών «Doublefaced»[9]. Η σειρά η οποία εξαπλώθηκε μέσω των κοινωνικών δικτύων, έλαβε παγκόσμια κάλυψη από τον Τύπο. [10] Η ίδια σειρά αποτελείται από περίπου 20 φωτογραφίες που στα μάγουλα ενός μοντέλου ζωγραφίζονται δύο ή και τρία πρόσωπα
