coffee & women[edit]

Amended the Coffeehouse & history of coffee pages - women were banned - but it was not universal, or even universally enforced. I'm sure someone will argue & I'll have to dig up more refs, but hopefully this sets soem of the record straight. thanks for finding the contradiction..Bridesmill 21:05, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pupil vs student[edit]

It may be common US parlance, but last time I looked, Wikipedia was not an American encyclopedia.Iain1917 (talk) 07:24, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So you want to avoid 'British dialect' use (not actually true) because it is not universal, and wish to substitute 'common US parlance'. Hmmm. There seems to be something slightly out of kilter there, but maybe that's just because I'm a dumb European. In addition, I have no idea why American children would wish to be associated with the term 'student' given the nature of the beast across all cultures.Iain1917 (talk) 14:59, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
