Hey, I'm an outside observer on this and not involved in this current revert war going on at Snakes on a Plane, but I really woudl appreciate it if you reconsidered your decision not to fully-protect it. Take a look at the history [1]. 3RR has been completely demolished by pretty much everyone on there and civility has gone to the crapper. There's at least 75 edits involved in this war and that's since 8 hours ago. I really think it should be reconsidered. Thanks, Metros232 20:42, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't suppose you have had a chance to review this request for un-protection. We have lot's o' people monitoring article for vandals at this point. BTW thanks for your vote of confidence in speedy keep. Hackajar 21:53, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help me? Need advocacy against troublesome user.[edit]

Name's Jes,Jessicarowls. Nice to meet you.

Cutting to the chase, I found this on my usertalk page.[6]

{{sockpuppet|Guerillafilm}}

The history of my userpage indicates editor w/handle chocolateboy is author of nasty gram.

Looking 4 advocacy from administrator. Saw you were admin involved in most recent dispute on SoaP article.

Please, would you delete the warning from my page since it is untrue/frivilous. Why was it placed on there? Banner came out of nowhere.

My field of studies is w/snakes and anthropology of snakes. Been trying to meaningfully edit the SoaP article and other snake related Wikipedia pages. My guess, after consulting SoaP history, is that chocolateboy trying to drag me into feud he's having w/ other editors.

Also: alternative explanation#1>> chocolateboy mistakingly believes I'm sockpuppeting/meatpuppeting other users because my edit history clashes w/his edit history.

Alternative explanation#2>> User with handle Guerillafilm is accusing me of impersonating him/plagarizing his contribs.

Alternative explanation#3>> chocolateboy is engaging in page ownership behavior. Our contributions have clashed few times this week. I've been using discussion page to resolve disputes w/others. I have been getting along with other editors. Although, despite good faith efforts to work with other editors, chocolateboy is only user reverting my changes w/o explanation, then places banner/nasty gram on my usertalk.

Source of irritation>> Utilization of the words "meatpuppet" or "sockpuppet often carry a negative meaning; those utilizing the term should take care that it can be backed up and isn't frivolous.

Well aware of an edit war between editors on Soap article. Just b/c I agree w/ contribs 'of some' and not contribs 'of others' does not mean I am sockpuppet/impersonator/meatpuppet of 'the some' against 'the others.'

Two desired outcomes>> #1 Removal of the frivolous warning from my usertalk page. #2 Warning against chocolateboy for frivolous behavior.

Thanks for your time sweetie. Jessicarowls 22:20, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

help needed[edit]

Hi, Yanksox. If you have the time, would you help me in a issue that may lead me or other user into violatin 3RR? I editted the article on model Lisa Fonssagrives to remove POV, for citations for weaseal wording, remove more pov and remove some unmentioned magazine cover images. Of course all this claims are my humble opinion and are open to discussion, but some user decided to revert my edits without using no edit summary. After I re-reverted the reversion asking of a reason, I got the reply as a new reversion claiming my editions where vandalism. At this poing, I contacted the user explaining I did that editions in good faith, and reverted the article again to keep my editions . The user sent me no reply and partially reverted my editions, this time adding a comment saying imagedeletionists strike again (what I believe refers to me).

I would like to have a 3rd part input in this dispute, before it gets worse. Thanks in advance. Best regards, --Abu Badali 23:06, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apology[edit]

Hey man. I just wanted to take the time to apologize to you for any comments I may have said in the CVU discussion which were wholly out of line and may have been offensive to you. That was not my intent, but in retrospect, I can see that I made some pretty cheap rhetorical jabs that I shouldn't have. So please accept my sincerest apologies to you for anything I've said or done that you may deem to have been inappropriate. Dr Chatterjee 05:17, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re Wdefcon[edit]

I don't get the move of the Wiki defcon. Can't it be sprotected instead? Is moving it really going to deter vandals, anyway? The German solution doesn't apply here, I don't think. Reverting Vandalism[edit]

Policy on page protection[edit]

Hi there. Where is policy on page protection discussed? I think it's crazy that page protection on a page like Dog is considered more important than protection on the page of a living billionaire once described by Vanity Fair as the most litigious man in Britain. Do you agree that the potential financial risk to Wikipedia is greater from defaming the latter than the reputation risk due to some misinformation about dogs?
