Can somebody please tell me why I still have the "tagged for speedy deletion" below? I had thought this issue was resolved? Or is this just for a record? Please help and explain!!!

Also, the article says that it is currently "orphaned." I have a lot of category links but isn't this enough? How do I resolve this issue? THANK YOU SO MUCH PLEASE HELP SOON!!!! Arigatou!

The notice stays on, unless you (or someone else) removes it. If you've dealt with it, get rid of it.

'Orphaned' means there are no other articles that link TO yours.

Can I ask questions here? Please tell me what about this article is self promotional and blatant advertisement. I think this is a very fair representation of the journal, and everything stated in the article is a verifiable fact. I provided references and links to known sources.

I also want to say that I have permission to use the images from the website coordinators. But I do not know how to change the classification of these images so that Wiki will take it. I was not sure which categories to choose when I uploaded the images so I just chose "I got it from somewhere," which ,is not untrue. But I do have a permission. How can I go about this?

I'm new to Wiki, please help. I worked really hard on the article, please do not delete.

Thank you. Yayoikoi (talk) 04:29, 2 April 2009 (UTC) (Is this the correct way to sign my posts?)[reply]

Relax. I'll help. We'll fix it. Deep breath.
Don't worry about deletion; everything can be un-deleted. I'll stick a copy in your user area.
There is no deadline. More soon.  Chzz  ►  04:45, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Update: The article was not up for deletion. The "speedy delete" request was declined by an administrator - see this edit. Reason, "As reviewing administrator, I think the article is not entirely promotional, so speedy deletion declined. Check for copyvio".
The "{{hangon}}" message was left behind, by mistake. I'll remove it now.

Ok, now that's out of the way;
  • Regarding the image - "permission to use it" is not enough. All images on Wikipedia have to be free. Really free. Not 'allowed to be used on Wikipedia', but 'allowed to be used anywhere, for any reason, without conditions'. The copyright holder has to give the image away, forever. The reason for this is, everything in Wikipedia can be copied, by anyone, no conditions. If someone wants to copy part of Wikipedia, and use it to advertise, that's fine. So - if you can get the copyright holder to agree to 'give away' the picture, we can use it. Otherwise, we can't. If you want to get permission from them, you must get them to fill in a suitable email. Here is an example of the email you could send them;
I would like to use the picture at this URL on Wikipedia;

PUT THE ADDRESS OF THE PIC HERE, IE HTTP://WHATEVER.COM/IMAGE-NAME.JPG

Wikipedia can only use images that are free of copyright; you are the sole copyright holder
of, and are prepared to release it, please complete the declaration below, attach the file,
and send it back.

Remember to fill in the Date and your name at the bottom.

Many thanks, - Yayokoi

I hereby assert that I am the creator and/or sole owner of the exclusive copyright
of the picture at this URL; PUT THE ADDRESS OF THE PIC HERE,
IE HTTP://WHATEVER.COM/IMAGE-NAME.JPG

DATE, NAME OF THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER

  • If you can get that, you forward it to OTRS, and that fixes the whole copyright thing.
  • Regarding the remaining problems - every single fact on your article needs to be supported with a reliable source. Please understand what is meant by that - a newspaper article, a book, etc. Think of it this way - the reader must be able to 'check the facts' - by following the reference, the reader should be able to make sure for themselves that the facts are true.
Example; "Published weekly, its coverage spans geopolitics, history, economics, society, culture, and international relations."
  • How can I, as a reader, *prove* that it is published weekly? Prove it to me. Show me a national newspaper that says, "The Asia-Pacific Journal is published weekly." - if you can't find a reliable source that says it, then you can't say it.
  • How can I *prove* it covers all those things?
  • etc etc, for the whole article.
  • Top tip: remove everything from the article that is not referenced by a reliable source. Then, later, slowly, add back the information - backing up each fact with a reliable source.
OK, I'm hoping this answers your questions; I would suggest the following;
1. Remove the pic, for now.
2. Remove most of the article, leaving just a few lines, asserted with reliable sources. Like, "The Asia-Pacific Journal: Japan Focus, founded in 2004 as Japan Focus, is an open source, refereed electronic journal." - with a reference - and that's it. Delete everything else.
3. Learn a bit about Wikipedia. Lots of stuff about that below.
4. After you've learnt a bit, start to add to the article, one fact at a time, with sources.
This is my suggestion. Good luck with whatever you decide; if you want more help, you know how to get it. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  05:21, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[edit]

Hi, Yayoikoi. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  05:21, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Japan Focus.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Japan Focus.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 02:23, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Asia-Pacific Journal: Japan Focus has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable journal. Not indexed in any selective databases, no independent sources. Does not meet WP:NJournals or WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Orphaned non-free image File:Japan Focus.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Japan Focus.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:40, 22 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
