Some General Advice[edit]

Ycxu2019, I am assuming that you are Xu You Cheng who wrote three articles (doi:10.1016/j.bbagen.2008.10.012, doi:10.12688/f1000research.18134.1, and doi:10.3390/sym11121445) that are referenced in the non-helical models of DNA structure article. The last of these was added by you, and so it appears that you are seeking to add citations to your own work, which needs to be done with great care and in line with the advice at WP:SELFCITE. You also should acknowledge and act on the advice at WP:COI regarding editing with a conflict of interest. I note that a conflict of interests exists even if you are not Xu You Cheng but are editing at his direction or on his behalf. I apologise if my assumption is incorrect and hope you can understand why your user name and edits lead me to this assumption.

I have began a discussion on the talk page of the article, which you are welcome to join. Wikipedia can certainly benefit from the contributions of scientists but we do need to reflect the consensus in mainstream sources and with due weight to their prominence within the literature of science. The addition of your paper from F1000Research, for example, is problematic given it has two reviewers requesting modifications and one outright rejection which, I am advised by Evolution and evolvability means that standard practice would regard it as a preprint and not yet published.

As a new editor, I encourage you to make use of the teahouse and article talk pages, and even talk pages for users (such as this one for you), to ask questions and seek advice. The talk pages of relevant WikiProjects (like the Genetics WikiProject, the Molecular and Cell Biology WikiProject, and the Chemistry WikiProject) are also great places to seek assistance and to build connections with editors with similar interests. Feel free to contact me at my user talk page, too. EdChem (talk) 02:23, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
