Replaceable fair use File:1971 Najat Al Saghira.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:1971 Najat Al Saghira.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nick—Contact/Contribs 18:34, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Thank you for your query.

Sadly, we don't have the rights to the photo of Nizar's letter to Najat. Nobody has the rights to it; it is widely circulated in Damascus and we don't have the original.

Best regards, Sami Moubayed

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Najat Al Saghira the child on stage.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Najat Al Saghira the child on stage.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 01:43, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling Error in new Page Title[edit]

A new page was developed today titled "Mohammad Hosni The Galligrapher". The G in the last word of the title should be C. Could someone advice on how to access the editing of this page title and correct the spelling error, please (YdhaW (talk) 23:35, 21 July 2015 (UTC)).[reply]

Response The subject of the page is Mohammad Hosni the Egyptian master calligrapher who died more than half a century ago in Cairo. This same photo is also used in Wikipedia Arabic page to define the subject of the page which is the same purpose of including it here in the Wikipedia English page {YdhaW (talk) 21:19, 12 August 2015 (UTC)}.[reply]

My contribution to Soad Hosny Page[edit]

This page was in need of further expansion by additional content and inline references. I have added substantial contributions to enhance it as shown in https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Soad_Hosny&oldid=677240556 only to be entirely undone by (User:Rms125a@hotmail.com) without explanation! Could someone advice on how to revert the current page to the above enhanced revision? Is there someone out there who could review the two revisions, compare and arbitrate? Is their away available to tackle vandalism in case this is one? Any constructive help on safeguarding the undone improvements to this page will be appreciated {YdhaW (talk) 02:23, 22 August 2015 (UTC)}[reply]

Rms125a@hotmail.com did provide an explanation. It is written in the so-called "edit summary", which can be viewed in the "View history" tab at the top of the page, to the left of the search bar. In this case, the explanation was: Undid revision 677240556 by YdhaW (talk) undo POV, OR. Such abbreviations can be looked up in the WP:Glossary, where you will find that:
  • POV = Point Of View, frequently meaning that the added content was perceived to be a biased opinion instead of neutral facts.
  • OR = Original Research, meaning that the added content was regarded as something written without reliable sources to support the claims in that content.
Final word of advice: carefully check on what Talk page you are discussing things. This Talk page for example, is associated with your own Wikipedia account. A question like you had asked above, would be more suited for the Talk page associated with Soad Hosny. If you want to stay updated on those discussions, consider adding them to your "watchlist" (link all the way at the top) by clicking on the star button to the left of the search bar. - HyperGaruda (talk) 10:56, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I thought I referenced virtually every statement in my contribution and sincerely feel I made no opinions of my own in this contribution. Any how, Thank you for the feedback and will take your advice on board. Cheers. YdhaW (talk) 18:14, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Najat Al Saghira page in Arabic[edit]

I have established a new page in https://ar.wikipedia.org/w/index.php? titled نجاة الصغيرة (المطربه الكبيرة) on 30-31 August 2015 supported by large number of references. I did this instead of adding new contributions to the existing page titled نجاة الصغيرة because the contributions would be much larger than the content of the existing page which is also lacking in inline references. It appears my new Arabic page has been blocked or rejected without explanation. Can someone please look into this? YdhaW (talk) 21:22, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I assume that you're fluent in Arabic, so please take a look at the revision history for the page that you wanted to create. The reason for the "deletion" is likely to be in the top version by Meno25 (not sure, but I do not understand Arabic enough). If you want to discuss "ar.wikipedia.org" articles, then do so over there on the Arabic "ar.wikipedia.org" and not here on the English "en.wikipedia.org" - HyperGaruda (talk) 10:25, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Originator Response

Thank you for the feedback. My said contribution of 30-31 August 2015 has now been added in "ar.wikipedia.org". On another note, My Article titled "Mohammad Hosni" in "en.wikipedia.org" needs a small amendment, namely changing the title from "Mohammad Hosni" to "Mohammad Hosni The Calligrapher". I believe this change will enhance the notability of and the traffic to it. I do not know how to change this title. Your help on this will be highly appreciatedYdhaW (talk) 21:07, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mohammad Hosni page[edit]

In contrast and further to the above message "Najat Al Saghira page in Arabic", I have also established this page "Mohammad Hosni" - the Calligrapher in English only to find it translated to Arabic Wikipedia by some one without reference to myself as the originator! Can someone please also look into this, please? YdhaW (talk) 23:42, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merger discussion for Sex with Reference to Quran[edit]

An article that you have been involved in editing—Sex with Reference to Quran —has been proposed for merging with another article. If you are interested, please participate in the merger discussion. Thank you. Pixarh (talk) 11:25, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on suggestion to merge the following two Articles; Article 1: Sex with Reference to Quran Article 2 : Islamic sexual jurisprudence

I, the writer of Article 1, would kindly object to the above suggestion for the following reasons;

1. I presume “the poor references”, mentioned by Flyer 22, are the bloggers I have referenced. I would agree that these references are not suitable to be considered in the same context as Jurisprudence references. They are my attempt to illustrate some of the problems that Muslims of today are facing in the light of their sexual orientation. They want to know if and what solution(s) is open to them within the verses of Quran. This is precisely why I am not in favour of Articles 1 and 2 being merged. They want to know what the Quran says.

2. I wrote Article 1 as an alternative to Article 2 and not as complementary to it, otherwise I could have instead simply edited Article 2 with my contribution. Article 1 refers to 142 verses from the Quran and only one well-known hadeeth (statement from Prophet Mohammad). The focus of Article 1 is primarily on the Quran. Unlike the scope of Article 2, Article 1 does not rely on the various Muslim cultures, traditions, sects, scholars or historical jurisprudence and the word “Fatwa” is deliberately not mentioned in it.

3. Article 1 makes it clear from the start that Muslims believe in “personal responsibility” and do not believe in “vicarious atonement”. The Quran repeatedly stresses the message to mankind that each person is responsible for his or her own actions and that on Judgment Day everyone will be resurrected and each human will individually have to answer directly to GOD for their every word, thought and deed. Muslims are therefore required to listen to the Quran and comply, and may also listen to scholars and fatwas but without obligation. There has been erroneous Fatwas on some vital issues; including but not limited to “marriageable age” and “lesbianism”.

4. Only through closer and direct contemplation of the Quran can one comprehend the vast gulf between traditional practices and the Quranic position on such practices. For example; words like “homosexuality” and “gay” traditionally refer equally to men and women. The Quranic position on Man-Man Sex and Woman-Woman Sex are very different, the first is deplored in no uncertain terms whilst the second is not.

It is hoped that future editors to Article 1 find it the proper platform to write their contributions with only focused citations from and references to the Quran, as Article 1 title suggests. YdhaW (talk) 18:39, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

{NB. Please note I am not a student and Article 1 is not a "Student Assignment")YdhaW (talk) 19:26, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Debate on the Hadith[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Debate on the Hadith. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Criticism of Hadith. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Criticism of Hadith – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. FreeatlastChitchat (talk) 03:28, 17 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Response from originator of “Debate on the Hadith” The first response to my article from your good selves was to place a tag for “speedy deletion” on it. Shortly after this another editor or editors confirmed the article as containing new material with non-duplicative content. I thought the matter was closed, but today I see you have deleted it. I cannot agree with your suggestion that I edit the existing Article “Criticism of Hadith” to incorporate my new material in it. I have given careful attention to the existing Article and I find it differs from mine in content and format. Furthermore, I am of the opinion that the very title of the existing Article may alienate some potential readers among the Muslims public. I have written eight Articles for Wikipedia (5 English and 3 Arabic) in the last six months and this latest one “Debate on the Hadith” is the only one to suffer deletion and so quickly. Its deletion represents a waste of over 250 man-hours from a qualified, knowledgeable and experienced writer on this subject. I have read through hundreds of pages of publications and numerous contents in over 150 active web sites for relevant material to summarize and accumulate the various views “for and against” which is indeed complex and particularly difficult to comprehend if the reader is not an Arabic speaker. The new Article is, in my opinion, a fresh update that is relevant at this point in time. It reflects the most recent and current discussions on the internet as well as key publications from both schools of thought. It’s neutral; it does not agree or disagree with either side. A more constructive action would have been to direct “Criticism of Hadith” to “Debate on the Hadith” and not the other way around. In this context I have failed to find one like it within any existing Article in Wikipedia. Might I suggest that the deletion of this 8th Article of mine is the result of lack of specialist knowledge of the subject? Its deletion is a great disappointment to me and, I feel, a loss for Wikipedia readers particularly since it has been done by a Wikipedia Administrator rather than an outsider. I find myself severely discouraged by your action in this matter.YdhaW (talk) 22:53, 18 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

articles like this: Debate on the Hadith, are the main reason i still bother to donate my money to wikipedia. you YdhaW, have done an excellent job compiling these critically important areas within islamic schools of thought and teaching- into a single coherent article. considering the article was very recently created it will undoubtedly need refinement over the weeks and months to come, specifically the opening statements of the article, and the section "whats next?", should be rephrased to fall more inline with the encyclopedic standards wikipedia seeks to maintain. thanks for your contribution, - The5thForce (talk) 15:24, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Response from "Debate on the Hadith" originator: Sorry for the inconvenience. Yesterday, I have removed the reference to the blog, even though I would assure you that the content of this particular blog is reliable. Please note I was inserting a link to my new Article “Debate on the Hadith” to integrate it with other relevant Articles in Wikipedia as I normally do each time I create a new Article for Wikipedia, but this time I added it with the first sentence of it with the blog ref.
