Indo-Greeek kingdom[edit]

I would love to discuss what refs you exactly have issues with on the FAR, and correct mistakes if there are any. PHG 05:44, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paragraphs not having sources, and some sources in Whitehead not telling what they tag. There are likely other thigns there. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:07, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've renominated this for FA status. Any chance you could comment on the article at the above link? Much appreciated if you could comment! :) Davnel03 14:44, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to take a look... I don't really like rocking up if I know I can do the necessary improvements but then dont. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:07, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK[edit]

Would you give me some advice on this. I want to be part of DYK but I feel like I an not allowed to be. I am very sorry for hurting Ivo's feeling and truly did not mean to. I made a bad misjudgment. He will not forgive me. and now another person is posting bad things about me on the DYK talk page. [1]

How can I be part of it again? Am I really such a bad person? Do I deserve all this badness being said about me. I was truly just trying to be part of the group but maybe I am too much of an outsider. I was surprised that Ivo was allowed to use profanity against me on DYK and no one said anything. I do not understand what is going on or what I should do. Ivo forbade me to post on his page ever, but I apologized to a friend of his who said he would relay it to Ivo.

What should I do? Is it that I am not wanted and there is nothing I can do about it? It seems to me that being part of DKY is not open to me. I am excluded. I have asked how I can be helpful and get not response. Sincerely, --Mattisse 07:07, 22 October 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Who can I ask if you will not answer? Please, please recommend someone. Mattisse 08:03, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see it is hopeless. Never mind. Sorry to have troubled you. Goodbye, --Mattisse 08:54, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think ducking might be the best option. Sometimes it's better to say less. I don't know why you crossed your comment out so quickly after just one hour. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:07, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think this is interesting enough for a DYK? It's a variety of Chinese duck dish that's much less known than Peking duck, smoked with camphor and black tea. Is it too short? Badagnani 06:20, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It needs probably at least 3-4 more sentences to scrape home. And refs is the main thing. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:21, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dammit, Janet![edit]

I nominated Dammit, Janet! for DYK,[2] but it was listed it at AfD and Articleissues and the research tags were placed on the article. My DYK nomination was removed (I was unable to find the diff). The AfD was very clear that the article met Wikipedia's standards and showed no support for the tags placed on the article. I don't know how I attracted such attention, but apparently such efforts are meant to teach me a lesson. I think the DYK time should be tolled because of the AfD. Would you please consider removing the tags on the article and use my DYK suggestion to list Dammit, Janet! in the Main Page DYK section. Thanks. -- Jreferee t/c 14:34, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think DYK needs to wait until the Dammit, Janet! DRV is over. -- Jreferee t/c 15:05, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think the filibustering may have taken its toll on the place of this article in the queue. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:07, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ottawa Panhandlers Union[edit]

consensus: (noun) agreement in the judgment or opinion reached by a group as a whole

Apparently on Wikipedia, consensus means, "Everyone who agrees with me after I ignore everyone with a different opinion." Not that I expected anything different, but I wanted you to be aware that your grossly inappropriate judgement did not pass unnoted. I have also taken the liberty of informing the people whose views you consider worthless that you regard them as sockpuppets. SmashTheState 02:18, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent and well reasoned close. Clearly you saw through the admitted sockpuppetry and meatpuppetry in this circus of an AfD, and saw that there was a paucity of reliable sources. Don't be intimidated by people who are just using articles like this as a political soapbox as opposed to trying to build a veritable encyclopedia. I am sure they'll clamour over your talk page -- Samir 02:58, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A bit of action from disgruntled AFD ppl might provide a bit of a change of pace. I've been subjected to about 20 DRVs and survived all of them so far. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:05, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am not a sock puppet. I am not a meat puppet. I genuinely feel the article is of relevance to Ottawa and Wikipedia in general. I can't believe you discounted all the votes to keep the article, and simply removed it. It's very upsetting. --Nik 20:24, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You wrote: "Grand total of 84 edits form this chap and he was canvassed as well. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 23:40, 29 October 2007". Just so you know, I was NOT canvassed. I keep an eye on that article. Yes, I edited it in the past and I was offering to edit it in the future. And yes, I watch it. Isn't that how Wikipedia is supposed to work? People like an article, watch it, edit it, offer to fix it up to code if others think it has flaws. You know -- colaborating.
I continue to be baffled by the treatment the Ottawa Panhandlers Union article received and would love a genuine explanation of what just went down. Seriously. Send me a message or something. --Nik 13:01, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I AM NOT A PUPPET! I AM A HUMAN BEING!! The Ottawa Panhandlers Union is important expansion to IWW page, as it explains a current campaign. it is analogous to the starbucks workers union article. I am offended that my voice is not heard in the discussion. I hope the Ottawa Panhandlers Union is back up before we know it. Transcona Slim 02:46, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It'ss be removed per {{db-repost}}. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:09, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bad faith delete based on political/poverty bias. An editor has asked for a deletion review of Ottawa Pahandlers Union. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Apples99 09:52, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

It seems the DRV agreed with me. Blnguyen (bananabucket)
Bully for you. Can I expect an apology any time soon for your saying I was canvassed and your implication that I'm a sock full of meat? --Nik 11:26, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Evidently not. >:-( --Nik 18:38, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA and articlehistory[edit]

Hi, BInguyen, I sweep the articlehistory error category daily, and review all new FACs to make sure the talk pages have the correct templates in place before GimmeBot goes through. I wanted to make sure you're aware of how to use the GA templates and {{Articlehistory}}; I made corrections to two recent GA nominations (incorrect use of template and wrong result field, wrong current status field). These cause the error category to be populated; when you finish updating an articlehistory, you can scroll to the bottom of the talk page to see if the red error category is lit up. Best regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:13, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:40, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Short question[edit]

Would you say that the first three issues you had with opt-outs in the European Union are resolved with my recent edits? I'll have to do a bit of research for suitable sources regarding the controversy surrounding the opt-outs, though. Thanks! —Nightstallion 23:07, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed some of the problems you found, and I've got a few questions on your comments. I'd appreciate it if you could take a swing by the talk page and see what I've written. JKBrooks85 03:21, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I've fixed all but one thing you listed, and I've got a question on that one. Could you take another swing by the talk page? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JKBrooks85 (talkcontribs) 02:02, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Think I've got it now. One final swing should do it. I'm planning to submit it for FAC, so don't hesitate to mention something if it's bothering you. It'd just come up later, though it'd give the people at FAC something to complain about -- they seem to like that sort of thing. JKBrooks85 02:22, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for all your help and comments. It's definitely a far better article now than before the review, and I really appreciate it. I hope someone will find it useful. JKBrooks85 02:35, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you look...[edit]

At Template_talk:Did_you_know#Articles_created_on_October_25. There are two good DYK articles that I don't think should slip through: Minority Treaties (mine) and Bandurist's Pogroms in Ukraine.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  03:02, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was a bit hesistant about the Treaties one itself, since the vague comment is actually the POV of one writer, although most people would agree that the LoN is bad. That's why I didn't really grab it the first time, perhaps there is somethign better. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:09, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I don't think anybody could really argue that LoN was not flawed and ineffective. As much as I support international organizations and I admire the spirit of LoN, I am not aware of a single modern reliable source that would claim otherwise. It was a failure, and I do think that comparing MT to its parent - LoN - is interesting. But I will see about adding alternate hooks.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  03:15, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Presque Isle State Park[edit]

I think I have made the changes that you have asked for, but I don't understand what you mean by this [the daughter article does not have the relevant sources]. Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't eve know that it was up for GA. Glad I found out. Dincher 00:41, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I meant that the history section didn't have enough refs. If the corresponding part in the daughter article had refs then it would be OK per WP:SS. In this case it didn't. Usually if the daughter is reffed then the subsection in the parent need not be. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:40, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

that is against policy I am afraid. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:35, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Blnguyen, I changed my vote to support in the FAC and had some last nitpicky comments. Overall a very well done article and I learned a lot about something I knew very little of before. Here are two more tiny things I forgot to mention at FAC. The sentence "Their place of burial has never been disclosed by the junta..." makes it sound as if the junta still exists - perhaps "Their place of burial was never disclosed by the junta..." is better. Also in Memorial Services you mention thousands gather at the purported gravesite, but do not specify which of the possible sites you discussed above this was.

Good luck with the FAC. I have not had an article in it for a while and was surprised to find that it seems very slow now in terms of number of responses - maybe too many candidates and not enough reviewers? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:49, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you![edit]

Thank you for removing the completely unwarranted vandalism accusations from my talk page. The story was that Recent Deaths linked to an obit an Wikipedia page for Frank Gaffney and I added the information to his Wikipedia page. Apparently, it was a different person, so I made a mistake (same name, an honest mistake in my opinion). Perspicacite then accuses me of vandalism and asks me to "provide a diff" for his death, which I assumed he made a mistake and asked for a source. So I provided a source, explained what happened and reminded him sternly to assume good faith. The response was to template me with a warning about adding "nonsense" to Wikipedia. I'm trying to ignore this to avoid it becoming a big issue, but I'm not going to leave a demonstrably false accusation on my talk page. Any suggestions if the user continues to press the issue? Cheers, CP 02:40, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, actually you are allowed to remove the warnings since you have ownership over your page. If they continue to insist then it is harassment. The keeping of warnings is only mandatory for obvious vandals so that they can't hide their history from observers. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:45, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

{{C-uploaded}} images[edit]

I guess I have to remind you again.[5] Whenever you upload a {{C-uploaded}} image, please make sure you also copy the source, licence tag, and other attribution information from Commons onto the image description page locally here on Wikipedia. What is Tag & Assess MMVII? We'd better explain. A month or so back, we ran a script to list all the articles in categories related to military history. This gave us about 165,000 articles. Some of these are already tagged and assessed as military history; some are military history but not yet tagged and assessed; some are not military history articles at all. This huge project — working thorough 165,000 articles — is called Tag & Assess 2007. To make it manageable, the list has been broken down into 330 ranges each of 500 articles. This is where you can help.

Just... adopt-a-range from the available worklists then keep track of your tally on participants' list. The tagging is easy, just follow the simple instructions. Afterwards, as our way of thanking you, you'll be presented with service awards and barnstars based on the number of articles you process. Remember... the ranges are broken down into sub-sections of ten articles, so you work through them at twenty or thirty articles a day if you wish. To make Tag & Assess 2007 a success, we need your help. Please sign up now. Thanks.

Guy Fawkes Remember, remember, the fifth of November?
Thank you to everyone who participated in my Request for adminship, which was successful at 50/5/0 on November 5th, 2007.
It became, as you may know, rather contentious toward the end (though fortunately no gunpowder was involved), and I appreciate the work of other Wikipedians to keep it focused. --Thespian 02:31, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Kusum Nair[edit]

A tag has been placed on Kusum Nair requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wallowing in my RfA: This time it's personal...
My sincere thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 51 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Doubtless it was an error to put one of the government-bred race of pigmen in any position of authority, but I hope your confidence in me proves justified. Even a man pure of heart and who says his prayers at night can become a were-boar when the moon is full and sweet. Fortunately, I'm neither a were-pig nor pure of heart so this doesn't appear to be an imminent danger to Wikipedia for the moment. Fortunate as well because were-pig hooves are hell on keyboards and none too dexterous with computer mice. If ever I should offend, act uncivil, misstep, overstep, annoy, violate policy, or attempt to topple the fascist leadership of Wikipedia, please let me know so I can improve my behaviour and/or my aim. I am not an animal; I am an admin. And, of course, if there is any way in which I can help you on Wikipedia, please do not hesitate to ask me. Despite my japes, I am indeed dedicated to protecting and serving Wikipedia to the best of my foppish and impudent abilities. I will strive to be an admirable admin, shiny and cool, reasonable and beatific. Pigmanwhat?/trail 05:25, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Post Scriptum: I believe my collaged graphic at left, which incorporates the WP globe and mop image, falls under the rubric of parody for my purposes here. Or is it satire? Regardless, it's a legitimate and legally protected First Amendment usage under US law. Complaints and allegations that this is an improper "fair use" image will be entertained on my talk page, probably with fruit juice, finger food and exotic coffees.

Thank you[edit]
